Assisted Recovery Center

Assisted Recovery Center is a state-of-the-art medical treatment for alcohol and opiate addiction. Assisted Recovery’s overall mission is to combine the very latest tools that medical science has to offer with one-on-one counseling to conquer alcohol and drug addiction.

Assisted Recovery Center Focus:

Substance Abuse

Substance Abuse Treatment Centers focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Opiate Addiction

Opiate Addiction Treatment Centers specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Alcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Dual Diagnosis/Co-Occurring Disorders Treatment

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person’s mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Rehab Services:

Opioid Dependence Treatment

Opioids are any drugs based on the chemical composition of opium. An opiate is a synthetic (man-made) version of an opioid, also known as a narcotic. Opiate pain medications include prescription painkillers, like Oxycodone, OxyContin, and Percocet. Other opioids include morphine, codeine, hydrocodone, buprenorphine, methadone, and heroin. Dependence or addiction to opioids is treated in a similar fashion to other drug and alcohol addictions, with an eye towards helping the body detox safely before other treatment commences.

Buprenorphine Detox and Treatment

Similar to methadone, buprenorphine is a drug meant to help with long-term treatment for opioid addiction. Those recovering from heroin addiction or other opiate addiction may be prescribed buprenorphine (Suboxone and Subutex) to help wean the body off of opioids safely, over time. Buprenorphine helps lessen the discomfort and danger of detox and withdrawal.

Naltrexone

Naltrexone is often used along with psychiatric counseling and social support to treat individuals undergoing drug or alcohol rehabilitation treatment.

What does Assisted Recovery Center offer?

Medically Assisted Detox

This is a program for clients who need medical intervention to eliminate alcohol or drugs from his or her body. This medical detox is performed in a private suite. Medications and other interventions are provided by specially trained, licensed nurses under physician supervision to help clients manage the symptoms of withdrawal. After completion of this program, the client and family will have the opportunity to participate in one of our outpatient treatment programs. To participate in this program, clients must be medically stable with no history of seizures, not currently pregnant, do not have acute hepatitis, uncontrolled hypertension, or any other uncontrolled mental or physical illness. This also includes no history of violence towards self or others.

24 Hour Clinical Care

At certain points in the recovery process, it’s important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.

Intensive Outpatient (IOP)

Their Intensive Outpatient Program is for individuals who request or require a greater amount of individual or family therapy. This program is designed for clients who live in the Savannah area and can come to their offices at least twice a week for therapy. Group therapy sessions last for about 1.5 hours and are facilitated by a licensed therapist. These group sessions are not 12-step based and also utilize cognitive-behavioral therapy and cognitive restructuring methods.

Outpatient (OP)

This program is for clients who live in the Savannah area and can come to their offices at least twice a week for therapy. Group therapy sessions last for 1.5 hours and are facilitated by a licensed therapist. These group sessions are not 12- step based and utilize cognitive-behavioral therapy and cognitive restructuring methods. With the help of the therapist and group members, clients learn how to adjust to life without the use of alcohol or drugs. Clients will have the opportunity to work individually with a licensed therapist for ten hours. Based on the needs of the client and the therapist's assessment, these hours may be used for individual or family therapy. These hours will be scheduled at the convenience of the client, family, and therapist.

Residential (inpatient) Treatment

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatment Types:

Individualized Treatment

Certain drug and alcohol rehab centers have standard treatment regimes they expect all patients to follow. Others offer individualized treatment, meaning they tailor treatment to a person’s specific background and needs. For example, a rehab facility may adjust a treatment program to take into account the type of drug or addiction from which the person suffers, their age, medical condition(s), religious beliefs, or lifestyle.

Family Program

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Therapies Offered:

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Individual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma Therapy

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Group Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

Assisted Recovery Center Highlights:

Although their program is not incompatible with 12-step programs, they don't use any social engineering. Instead, they focus on treating the addiction medically, as the disease it is. They use the latest neuroscience and drug therapies to re-align and repair the brain chemistry which is altered by the use of drugs and alcohol and keeps the person in the vicious cycle of addiction.
Assisted Recovery Center also offers Day Treatment. The accelerated program incorporates as much of our 3-month outpatient as possible into a two-week outpatient program. Individuals in the Savannah area who need to jump-start their recovery or stabilize any physical or mental health problems can utilize this program as well. Out-of-town clients who will not be able to participate in a 3 month outpatient service can also utilize this program. This program includes individual and group therapy along with daily group activities at their offices.
