If you are really looking for help with your recovery don't come to this place, the counselors are not trained to treat patients with drug addiction. They prefer that the addict is at home than in a residential program, that was the recommendation we received, that makes me think that they don't really care about patients achieving the goal of getting out of their addiction.

Psychotropic Medication:

Psychotropic medications (aka psychodynamic medication) are any medicines used specifically to affect and/or alter a patient's mind, emotions, and behaviors. Such psychiatric medicines are often used to change chemical levels in the brain that impact a person's mood and behavior. These medications include mood stabilizers, antidepressants, anti-ADHD drugs, and anti-anxiety medications.

Level of Care:

12-Step:

Their inpatient residential treatment programs rely on the 12-step philosophy as an integral part of recovery. Clients attend Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous as part of their treatment regimen. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way.

Aftercare Support:

Encouraging continued specialty treatment care after a stay in a residential facility, or providing resources that promote sustained sobriety, can be key in helping a client successfully achieve abstinence. In order to give their clients the best possible chance at remaining sober, they offer aftercare programs that provide some structure, oversight, and planning post-treatment. They consider client wants and needs when making arrangements for aftercare. If the client was part of a residential program, staff may recommend that they step down into an intensive outpatient, outpatient, or partial hospitalization program to continue specialty treatment. Other aftercare options include halfway or transitional housing.

Inpatient:

Adults in their residential treatment programs live on-site in a structured setting where they will receive education, therapy, and medical care to assist them in working through personal issues and ultimately overcoming their addiction. They focus on educating clients on the disease of addiction and giving them the tools and skills they need to be successful in recovery outside of residential treatment. Clients have access to gender-specific housing and amenities and participate in recreational activities.

Individualized Treatment:

Certain drug and alcohol rehab centers have standard treatment regimes they expect all patients to follow. At Pyramid Healthcare, they tailor treatment to the unique experiences and treatment needs of the individual, including unresolved grief and trauma, feelings of low self-worth, unhealthy relationships, and co-occurring disorders.

Outpatient:

Their outpatient treatment programs provide individual counseling, group therapy sessions, and life skills workshops to give clients the tools necessary to live a sober and healthy lifestyle. Individuals and their families are also educated on the nature of addiction, how to avoid relapse, and strategies for maintaining a drug-free lifestyle. Clients in their outpatient treatment programs continue to live in their own homes, allowing them to uphold work, family, and academic commitments. They may not reside in a guaranteed sober environment, and may be forced to confront and cope with triggers present in their everyday lives during recovery.

Treatment Focus:

Opioid Addiction:

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance Abuse:

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Alcoholism:

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Therapy Programs:

Life Skills:

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Individual Therapy:

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma Therapy:

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Family Therapy:

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group Therapy:

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.
