Saint Clare's Behavioral Health Focus:

Mental Health

Mental Health Treatment Centers focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Rehab Services:

Psychotropic Medication

Psychotropic medications (aka psychodynamic medication) are any medicines used specifically to affect and/or alter a patient’s mind, emotions, and behaviors. Such psychiatric medicines are often used to change chemical levels in the brain that impact a person’s mood and behavior. These medications include mood stabilizers, antidepressants, anti-ADHD drugs, and anti-anxiety medications.

What does Saint Clare's Behavioral Health offer?

Outpatient (OP)

Outpatient programs are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Dual Diagnosis/Co-Occurring Disorders Treatment

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person’s mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Treatment Types:

Individualized Treatment

Certain drug and alcohol rehab centers have standard treatment regimes they expect all patients to follow. Others offer individualized treatment, meaning they tailor treatment to a person’s specific background and needs. For example, a rehab facility may adjust a treatment program to take into account the type of drug or addiction from which the person suffers, their age, medical condition(s), religious beliefs, or lifestyle.

Family Program

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Therapies Offered:

Individual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Group Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

Couples Treatment

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person’s life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Saint Clare's Behavioral Health Highlights:

Saint Clare’s Counseling Services provide psychiatric services along with individual, group and family counseling for adults, children and families. Their counselors can help individuals and families to cope with crisis and change, such as the death of a loved one, divorce, separation, or the loss of a job; or to manage ongoing situations such as conflict within the family.
Their counselors, in collaboration with the individual or family, complete a detailed assessment and recommend an individualized plan of care to address specific needs and goals. During treatment, counselors provide education, support and guidance to ensure that the individual’s or family’s needs are addressed.
Saint Clare’s Transitions program provides a step-down from psychiatric inpatient care or an alternative to unnecessary psychiatric hospitalization for Morris County adults with a primary psychiatric disability or a co-occurring psychiatric and substance abuse disorder. The multidisciplinary treatment team includes a psychiatrist, advanced practice nurse, licensed clinicians, and counselors. Programming emphasizes wellness and recovery and includes a variety of evidenced-based treatment options. Services are provided through one of three tracks: Acute Partial Hospital, Partial Hospital, or Intensive Outpatient. Treatment plans are individualized to meet the needs of each person.
Saint Clare’s Community Support Services program provides in-home support for Morris County adults 18+ with a primary psychiatric disability, toward the goal of obtaining and maintaining independent living in the community. Counselors work with individuals to locate permanent lease-based housing, to negotiate leases, and to develop positive landlord-tenant relationships. Support is provided with community integration, and with household, financial, and personal care skills management.
