South Bay Community Services - Brockton Day Services' mission is to encourage the self-sufficiency of disadvantaged people through behavioral health care and substance abuse services that are grounded in the community.

South Bay Community Services - Brockton Day Services Focus:

Opiate Addiction

Opiate Addiction Treatment Centers specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Alcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Mental Health and Substance Abuse

A combined mental health and substance abuse treatment center has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Dual Diagnosis/Co-Occurring Disorders Treatment

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person’s mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Rehab Services:

Psychotropic Medication

Psychotropic medications (aka psychodynamic medication) are any medicines used specifically to affect and/or alter a patient’s mind, emotions, and behaviors. Such psychiatric medicines are often used to change chemical levels in the brain that impact a person’s mood and behavior. These medications include mood stabilizers, antidepressants, anti-ADHD drugs, and anti-anxiety medications.

What does South Bay Community Services - Brockton Day Services offer?

Intensive Outpatient (IOP)

South Bay’s Intensive Outpatient Program offers short-term programming for those who do not require the intensity of a full day Partial Hospitalization program. IOP consists of intensive treatment within a stable therapeutic setting. Like a full day Partial Program, IOP provides daily management and active treatment in an outpatient setting and consumers have continuous contact with their psychiatrists on a regular basis. Some psychiatric illness is more manageable with access to the correct help and support, and consumers may use this program to avoid the more intense option. Through IOP, their staff provides a hands-on, comprehensive level of support that consumers access each day in order to maintain a healthy and productive lifestyle.

Outpatient (OP)

South Bay’s Structured Outpatient Addiction Program provides short-term, clinically intensive, structured addiction treatment services. This program is designed to enhance continuity for consumers being discharged from acute treatment services (Level III) or medically managed (Level IV) detoxification programs as they return to their homes and communities. SOAP is also appropriate for consumers whose symptoms indicate a need for more intensive addiction treatment than can be provided in a regular outpatient program. Clinical programming is primarily group-oriented, with additional individual and family counseling services available.

Treatment Types:

Individualized Treatment

For quality care and exceptional services, their Mental Health and Substance Abuse department treats each individual with specific programs tailored to their needs. South Bay Community Services strives to provide the proper programs, certified staff members, and clinicians for the perfect combination of professional therapy and guidance. In order to assist individuals with a variety of needs, they implement a number of diverse programs and therapies to fully contribute to all counseling services.

Family Program

Their team of CBHI (Children's Behavioral Health Initiative Services) clinicians focuses on strengthening the family and making it possible for a child to remain in the home. Their interventions are highly structured, tailored to the family’s strengths, and designed in collaboration with all stakeholders. They offer a variety of specialized services, programs, and highly trained professionals to properly assist the child with their exact behavioral health concerns.

Aftercare Support

Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn’t spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community  programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Therapies Offered:

Individual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma Therapy

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Group Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

Couples Treatment

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person’s life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

South Bay Community Services - Brockton Day Services Highlights:

The Day Services teams consist of physicians, psychiatric clinicians, social workers, behavioral health counselors and other behavioral health professionals. These dedicated men and women are trained in a variety of specialty areas including substance use disorders, psychiatric illness and dual diagnosis.
The Day Services programs provide collaborative psycho social rehabilitation to adults with psychiatric disabilities through a shared culture of recovery that extends into the community. Their strengths-based treatment model is designed to address each individual’s unique areas of need and ability.
The Partial Hospital Program provides an intermediate level of care that offers the intensity and structure of an inpatient program combined with the less restrictive environment of outpatient care. This program is used as a hospital diversion solution or as a transition from an inpatient facility to the community. The services are intensive, the programming is highly structured, and consumers have continuous contact with their psychiatrists on a regular basis. Through this program, consumers can begin to ease back into their normal lives and enjoy more freedom without losing their network of support. At this stage, it is imperative that participants have constant access to their trained staff in order to make the transition less stressful and/or avoid hospitalization.
The Day Treatment is a less intensive level of care than their Partial Hospital Program. The focus of Day Treatment is on recovery. They maintain a strong belief in psychosocial rehabilitation, and their objective is to facilitate the clients’ adjustment to their psychiatric disabilities. Their staff is committed to the value of integrating recovery-oriented and consumer focused approaches within their programs. These include respecting people’s lived experiences, acknowledging their areas of expertise, and also helping promote increased decision-making.
The first three years of a child’s life are a time of profound physical, intellectual, language, social and emotional development. South Bay’s Early Childhood Services program works with children and their families to ensure growth, stability and well-being during these early years. Their approach is to help families identify their own strengths so they are empowered to foster their children’s growth and development.
