Zepf Center - Ottawa House is a residential sober living environment for individuals with a substance abuse problem or who are in recovery. Zepf Center - Ottawa House is located in Toledo, Ohio.

Zepf Center - Ottawa House Focus:

Substance Abuse

Substance Abuse Treatment Centers focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Opiate Addiction

Opiate Addiction Treatment Centers specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Alcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Dual Diagnosis/Co-Occurring Disorders Treatment

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person’s mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Rehab Services:

Methadone Maintenance Treatment (MMT)

The philosophy of the Opioid Treatment Program is to provide client centered treatment to individuals who need medication assisted treatment to obtain recovery. The goal of the OTP is to provide daily doses of methadone to decrease or alleviate symptoms of withdrawal so individuals served can abstain from alcohol and drugs. Individuals in OTP attend individual counseling for one hour per week and group counseling for two hours per week. Clients may remain in the program for as long as it is beneficial to their well-being.

Opioid Dependence Treatment

Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) is the use of medications in combination with counseling and behavioral therapies to provide a whole-person approach to the treatment of Opioid Dependence. The goal of MAT is to increase the level of daily functioning by providing medical stabilization and recovery skills for long term recovery. By reducing or eliminating the craving for opioid drugs and preventing the onset of withdrawal, the physician supervised medication administered provides the client with the opportunity to effectively engage in treatment. Services provided include: Methadone maintenance, Suboxone treatment, full antagonist Outpatient Treatment (Vivitrol), and medication-assisted therapy for opioid dependency during pregnancy, Individual and Group Therapy, drug screening, and case management.

Buprenorphine Detox and Treatment

Similar to methadone, buprenorphine is a drug meant to help with long-term treatment for opioid addiction. Those recovering from heroin addiction or other opiate addiction may be prescribed buprenorphine (Suboxone and Subutex) to help wean the body off of opioids safely, over time. Buprenorphine helps lessen the discomfort and danger of detox and withdrawal.

Vivitrol used for Addiction Recovery

Vivitrol has proven to be extremely effective in the treatment of opiate and alcohol abuse, especially when complimented with an effective rehab program. Vivitrol is a non-narcotic, non-addictive medication approved by the FDA that is used to suppress a person's cravings for a substance.

Psychotropic Medication

Pharmacological Management Services provides psychiatric assessment, medication management and monitoring, and medical consultation or referrals as needed to address the mental health needs of Zepf Center clients. The service assists in the ongoing stability of clients in collaboration with support services.

What does Zepf Center - Ottawa House offer?

Residential (inpatient) Treatment

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatment Types:

Individualized Treatment

The Diagnostic Assessment Service is a face-to-face assessment with individuals that are seeking to receive ongoing services from Zepf Center. The assessment is client centered, sensitive and responsive to the needs of persons from varied ethnic and cultural backgrounds, and persons with disabling conditions. Areas of clinical significance noted in the evaluation include the client’s level of functioning, determination of mental and physical health needs, addiction issues, exposure to trauma, and vocational needs. This results in referrals to Zepf Center services as appropriate.

12-Step

12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex & Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

Family Program

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Aftercare Support

Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn’t spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community  programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Individual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma Therapy

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Group Therapy

As part of Intensive Group Therapy (IGT) clients attend two groups per day, lasting two hours each. They attend these groups seven days a week. Clients transitioning in our detox unit begin this program as soon as post detoxification is completed. Those in early recovery participate in this level of care. There is a minimum of thirty hours of treatment per week. Community Based Intensive Group Therapy (CIGT) is for those clients that have safe, sober housing but need more support than IOP offers. Typically a participant will attend two groups per day, five days per week with a minimum of ten hours per week.

Couples Treatment

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person’s life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Creative Arts Therapy

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to.
