Alcoholism

Alcoholism is a term used to describe a level of drinking that causes harm to a person’s health. Also known as alcohol addiction or alcohol use disorder (AUD), the dependency involves a strong, often uncontrollable urge to drink.This condition is treatable through alcohol rehab in Kentucky. Clients typically continue to work and reside at home, but may engage in daily therapeutic sessions, depending on need. Outpatient treatment generally involves individual, group, and/or family therapy, recovery-focused life skills training, and a variety of ancillary services, such as career counseling or vocational training. Outpatient rehabs often encompass multiple levels of care, including partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), sober living, and standard outpatient.

Aftercare Support

After completion of treatment, the counselor will make referrals to community resources which include, but aren’t limited to Celebrate Recovery and other faith based initiatives, 12-step groups and other counseling services specializing in substance abuse services.

Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.
