Inpatient facilities are harder to find

Success depends on whether you believe holistic treatments work

This was my second tine in DFC outpatient treatment, the reason I chose DFC was their teaching, there, client, and the friendly environment. I have been to many treatment centers in my past when I knew in my heart I was serious about recovering from drugs and alcohol. There was no other place that I wanted to go other than Design For Change. They give group and individual counseling tailored for the individual which helped me tremendously. They help me find out what I want and how to go about getting it in the group setting they don’t allow disturbances. They make sure everyone is focused. An attentive, which makes it easy to learn. I have attended the Family Workshop many times. It is so amazing and has helped me so much. Dealing with addicted loved ones is so hard. You must have a support system to help you navigate all of the scary, stressful heartbreaking realities of this disease. The Design For Change staff have become like family to me. I know I can call on them when I need advice, someone to listen or just a shoulder to weep on. They understand and are always willing to help. I feel so very blessed to have found them. I wish every suffering addict and their family members would come to DFC for support and help. I am stronger and definitely more educated in dealing with my addicted loved ones one. I truly loved this place. During my time here, I struggled a lot the first couple weeks, and that was intentional on the programs part. It’s not supposed to be easy and you can adjust to the difficult aspects by truly letting go of wanting to control and accepting why you came to get help. I grew more here in a month than I ever could have in the real world.
I loved the staff, the doctors, the clinicians, the nurses, and my housemates. I never thought I’d say this but I actually miss being here! The forced structure was comforting and having small responsibilities daily helped me stay accountable. I miss making my bed after breakfast and tending to my little plant. I miss racing to the kitchen after group before 9 am hit so I could have one last cup of coffee. I miss that. I miss making things special as opposed to just having carte Blanche to drink caffeine whenever I want now, it takes the meaning out of the actions we choose when we live with no rules or structure.
The content of learning was helpful, and yes at times repetitious, but that’s how we change. Changing isn’t learning something then doing it perfect the next day. It is tedious amounts of reps and time that add up to meaningful change, it’s not glamorous like the world makes change seem. This program is HARD. And that’s what I wanted. I wanted challenge, I wanted growth, and I was sick and tired of being tired. This time in my life I decided I wasn’t the expert on how to do things considering how badly things were going. Please know that if it’s hard or you think it should be your way, it’s okay to let go and let them be the experts in their field. I am forever changed from this place, and I hope you will be too. And I am better for it because of this place, the friendships and love from staff alike.❤️

It was a difficult and impulsive decision to throw myself into treatment, I honestly went to the first place that said they had a bed, and I was beyond lucky that that place was White Sands Plant City.
The staff is incredible, the course selection was diverse and informative. The culinary team works very hard and the food was excellent, especially considering 3 meals a day for that many people.
I was scared going in, I had no idea what to expect. It was much less clinical than I thought and that is a good thing! Still with constant medical care, nurses and doctors if you had questions or concerns.
The BHT’s, Case Workers, and Discharge, all were so personable with every single patient, and it was easy to feel like a part of the community almost instantly.
Mostly I want to shout out KeSaundra, she really helped me process my feelings and always was there to listen. Gonna make you proud girl!
This was one of the most moving experiences of my life, and I will always be grateful for White Sands.

In 2020, I went to the Aloha house in West Palm, after treatment. I was a chronic relapser and out of hope. The structure and support at the house set my feet on a path of victory and recovery. My experience at Beachway was not perfect, as nothing truly is. However, I would not change a single thing. I learned so much and was embraced and understood for what feels like the first time in my life. Words can not express how thankful I am for the staff, the therapist, and the facility as a whole. I want to specifically thank Tripp, my primary therapist, and Brandon, my trauma therapist. Without these two gentleman I would not be living the life I am today. As I write this I have almost 7 months sober, moving into my own place, have a great job, and so many connections within the recovery community. This was a great place to learn how to grow up. As an alcoholic, I avoided adulthood and had a ready made excuse as to why I didn’t achieve or succeed in things. “I’m a drunk.” Once I removed the bottle, I quickly saw how much maturing I needed to do in everyday, regular life. The guys at RBC get you moving towards adulthood.
There are simple rules to be kept and standards to live up to; youre required to work the 12 steps, get a job, and respect the grounds and the people that live and work there. They are simple rules that many of us come in not knowing how to follow or have bucked at all points in our active addictions. Slowly but surely, this place guides you away from old habits into new, more productive ones.
All in all, this place takes you from beaten and broken to strong and empowered if you follow the rules and suggestions laid right at your feet. I’d recommend RBC to anyone serious about changing their life and “becoming the man they were meant to be.”

I completed 1st Step’s IOP program here and I just felt like there is no way I couldn’t leave a positive review about them. What makes 1st Step special is how abundantly clear that the Clinicians are doing what they Love, and not clocking in and clocking out at work. They understand recovery, have their own recovery journeys, and enjoy helping others. Every group i attended, I felt like I came out better or with more knowledge. Day by day. Being a Pompano Beach local my entire life, I will also advocate their sober living/php location is Prime time. If I was in php/sober living level of care, I would want to be at that location. No questions. Anyone who says otherwise, should probably practice gratitude. East side near the water in a chill part of town. (P.s – I was not in their sober living and php, but I know where it is, and I see many of the members around the neighborhood) My hats off to first step. And No this review is not botted or paid. I’m just a local who came here to get better after going off the wagon in college. 🙂

I came to The Center in the lowest place of my life, and left 4 weeks later filled with a new found hope for my future. The stuff are all outstanding people who genuinely care for every client who walks in the doors. The housing accommodations were great and having good roommates made the experience even better. The Center is a well-structured facility that fosters healing and recovery. Everyone was so kind and welcoming. The whole team of staff provided encouragement, empathy, compassion.
