I would joke with my dad that I might have to go there. Well all jokes aside I found myself walking through that front door. I was greated by staff and treated like a human being from all the staff. I mean it is a rehab it's not summer camp. Everyday wasn't sunshine and rose's. The morning meditation down to the one on one with my counselor " straight to the point and no BS!" This was and I hope my only time going. I was there in the middle of covid and snow storms but the friendships and experience I will always remember. I highly recommend Richard Jimenez 9 months ago I wanted to wait a year before i left a review about my experience at Vista, and here we are. I am 1 year and 1 month sober !! When i first came to the facility i was in terrible shape, physically and mentally. I fought the treatment for weeks before i saw that i was actually getting better. I found my higher power in this place and my life has changed in dramatic ways. I have no urge whatsoever to return to my previous way of life and i must give the credit to Vista. Throughout the United States, New Mexico has my number one. Vote for the healthcare for all veterans, and I've only been to 2 others lomelinda, California, which is always busy and always slammed for the veterans, and then there's the one on oho street in Tucson Arizona, where I was sent to go by the VA from New Mexico. For special medical treatment that the VA back then do not offer here. But they found me a facility where I could go and get my medical treatment done. Randal had helped me become more confident in myself while Richard had helped me understand my relationship with life and god deeper, and they gave me the opportunity to go forward to another sober living out in Huntington Beach, which has all lead to me coming up on 2 years sober this months, a finance I love, and a life that I feel like I’m thriving in. Shadow mountain was a fundamental part of my life changing from relentless drug abuse and hurting myself and others around me, to growth in myself and a life where I have value and purpose. The staff, led by the amazing Randall Staton, is extraordinary; many professionals passionate about helping people like me. The facility itself is nestled in Shadow Mountain and it is well maintained and very comfortable. The mountain itself is a very spiritual place. It has a lot of power and one can feel it just by being there. If you or a loved one needs help with addiction, I highly recommend Shadow Mountain Recovery in Taos, New Mexico. Don't let courtesy stop you from asking to change to a different provider. However it's a bit unfortunate they removed services from over the phone for those that live far but don't have the means to video call. I saw incredible improvements in all of the patients there irregardless of what each individual health needs were. It is a top notch facility and kept very clean as well. The social worker is very knowledgeable about things and is very helpful about making arrangements for appointments and anything else that's needed. He's a very down to earth person, he listens to the clients, and he truly cares about both his employees as well as the clients whom dose here! He's an awesome counselor and person as well!! He always makes time to talk with me or any of the other clients!!! And last, but definitely not least Crystal, one of the nurses is an awesome lady! I got a good job, my relationships with my girlfriend, family, friends are a 100 times better. My health is better, my mind is clear, I am learning everyday to love my sober self again thanks to Cenakor! Honestly, I can't really complain. I had 3 meals a day, plus fruits as a snack. Yes, we shared a dorm but I had a good dorm group for the most part. We had a comfortable bed, a small laundry room with 2 wash days, we had easy chores to keep our minds busy that helped with the rehabilitation process. I did dishes the whole time I was there when we weren't attending our classes and AA meetings etc. Which sometimes involved activities throughout the day, we had plenty of free time. We could smoke cigarettes, that was a plus for me. I would play basketball, volleyball, I learned to play spades, and make bracelets. We would also play music on the speaker at night time, we would get chips and salsa for our night meetings, we got popcorn when we watched movies. I know Cenakor isn't a Marriott hotel but for what it's business purpose is, I don't have a single complaint. I am truly grateful for Cenikor and the BHTs I got to know while I was in recovery. Shout out to the staff members Daphne, Michael, and Kayla. They were a big part of my recovery and still are. Also, to the entire medical/nurse staff. The worst part about Mesilla valley is the mattresses and pillows they give us to sleep for days on as we're withdrawing. They destroy our backs and our necks. The south building has always been way too cold, but a tech named Matt actually spoke directly to a maintenance man and got it a little warmer in there. We all truly appreciated that more than words can say. Mesilla valley's biggest downfall is that they need better beds for people to be withdrawing in. The only other downfall I can think of is the new bedding does not allow us to wrap ourselves in a blanket to stay warm in a building that feels like the middle of winter. Though I definitely appreciated the thicker blanket. It was still so cold in there though that you had to take the whole thing off the bed and sleep under both the bed cover and the top blanket. But like I said they fixed it mostly, it's still a bit too cold sometimes, but it is no longer unbearable unbearable. I would like to give a special shout out to a the best tech ever and I happen to have known from working there 30 years ago, Jose. A spiritual sanctuary (a lot of which came down to Shendo -unsure if Shendo is still part of the program). Compassionate, competent, knowledgeable staff. Vista Taos was not just a calling for it was life pr death. I drove by VT many a time on the way to elk hunts up by the CO border. I would joke with my dad that I might have to go there. Well all jokes aside I found myself walking through that front door. I was greated by staff and treated like a human being from all the staff. I mean it is a rehab it's not summer camp. Everyday wasn't sunshine and rose's. The morning meditation down to the one on one with my counselor " straight to the point and no BS!" This was and I hope my only time going. I was there in the middle of covid and snow storms but the friendships and experience I will always remember. "Update" 4y 10m 21d sober and counting and still working the program. I highly recommend

I wanted to wait a year before i left a review about my experience at Vista, and here we are. I am 1 year and 1 month sober !! When i first came to the facility i was in terrible shape, physically and mentally. I fought the treatment for weeks before i saw that i was actually getting better. I found my higher power in this place and my life has changed in dramatic ways. I have no urge whatsoever to return to my previous way of life and i must give the credit to Vista. I want to thank all of the people there for helping me see things differently. God is all around this place if you recognize the many signs.

After getting out of the Marine Corps, I settled in New Mexico and have used the VA facility for over 37 years now and let me say New Mexico truly has none of the finest medical facilities. Throughout the United States, New Mexico has my number one. Vote for the healthcare for all veterans, and I've only been to 2 others lomelinda, California, which is always busy and always slammed for the veterans, and then there's the one on oho street in Tucson Arizona, where I was sent to go by the VA from New Mexico. For special medical treatment that the VA back then do not offer here. But they found me a facility where I could go and get my medical treatment done. That's what I call looking out for a veteran during a tough situation.

I had went to shadow mountain a few years back, and they have really helped me change my life for the better. I went in anxious and insecure, and everyone here (including Randal and Richard, and a lot more staff I can’t remember the name of) had lifted me up and supported me in ways I’ve never experienced in other facilities. Randal had helped me become more confident in myself while Richard had helped me understand my relationship with life and god deeper, and they gave me the opportunity to go forward to another sober living out in Huntington Beach, which has all lead to me coming up on 2 years sober this months, a finance I love, and a life that I feel like I’m thriving in. Shadow mountain was a fundamental part of my life changing from relentless drug abuse and hurting myself and others around me, to growth in myself and a life where I have value and purpose. I definitely recommend shadow mountain to anyone who is serious about overcoming their addiction and changing their life. Thank you all!!

This is an exceptional treatment experience for addiction. The staff, led by the amazing Randall Staton, is extraordinary; many professionals passionate about helping people like me. The facility itself is nestled in Shadow Mountain and it is well maintained and very comfortable. The mountain itself is a very spiritual place. It has a lot of power and one can feel it just by being there. If you or a loved one needs help with addiction, I highly recommend Shadow Mountain Recovery in Taos, New Mexico. It's one of a kind and truly effective.

I’ve seen a few different therapists and have learned everyone has different teaching methods that may not suit you individually. Don't let courtesy stop you from asking to change to a different provider. However it's a bit unfortunate they removed services from over the phone for those that live far but don't have the means to video call.

A very caring facility. The doctor, nurses, therapists are very caring and professional. I saw incredible improvements in all of the patients there irregardless of what each individual health needs were. It is a top notch facility and kept very clean as well. The social worker is very knowledgeable about things and is very helpful about making arrangements for appointments and anything else that's needed. The open door policy is very good with everyone there. I highly recommend this facility for whatever rehabilitation needed. Definitely a Five Star facility.

The team there is great! I've been on methadone for over 30 yrs and dosed at probably over 10 clinics not counting courtesy dosing. This clinic is one of the best clinics I've been at. The staff seem to genuinely care! The nurses, the counselors all the way up to the program coordinator. I'm very pleased to be a client here. I'd recommend this clinic to anyone who needs help with addiction treatment.

I've been going here for 4 years and I have always been treated well! I will say that the newest Director, Robert, is a very good man. He's a very down to earth person, he listens to the clients, and he truly cares about both his employees as well as the clients whom dose here! Since he has become the Director, it's been positive all around. I would also like to give a big shout out to my counselor, Robert M., (a different Robert)! He's an awesome counselor and person as well!! He always makes time to talk with me or any of the other clients!!! And last, but definitely not least Crystal, one of the nurses is an awesome lady! I voluntary went to cenakor September 10 2025 for the 30 day program. I have not relapsed once. I got a good job, my relationships with my girlfriend, family, friends are a 100 times better. My health is better, my mind is clear, I am learning everyday to love my sober self again thanks to Cenakor! Honestly, I can't really complain. I had 3 meals a day, plus fruits as a snack. Yes, we shared a dorm but I had a good dorm group for the most part. We had a comfortable bed, a small laundry room with 2 wash days, we had easy chores to keep our minds busy that helped with the rehabilitation process. I did dishes the whole time I was there when we weren't attending our classes and AA meetings etc. Which sometimes involved activities throughout the day, we had plenty of free time. We could smoke cigarettes, that was a plus for me. I would play basketball, volleyball, I learned to play spades, and make bracelets. We would also play music on the speaker at night time, we would get chips and salsa for our night meetings, we got popcorn when we watched movies. I know Cenakor isn't a Marriott hotel but for what it's business purpose is, I don't have a single complaint. I am truly grateful for Cenikor and the BHTs I got to know while I was in recovery. Shout out to the staff members Daphne, Michael, and Kayla. They were a big part of my recovery and still are. Also, to the entire medical/nurse staff.

This place is absolutely terrible.....is what I would say if I had no brain. The people who complain about this place genuinely have no reason to. I went about a year ago, and it was the best time of my life. However. It is not five stars, because there were barely any group sessions. We mostly watched TV and played music. But that's my only complaint (if you can call it that) The other patients were so calm compared to some hospitals *cough cough Mesilla Valley* but this place is amazing. I recommended it to my friends mom <3

This place has helped me so much in my recovery , the staff is always positive & welcoming , my counselor Patricia is awesome tho I havent seen her in a month or 2 kinda got me worried but for the most part this place is really good , I haven't had a bad experience , they let you do more stuff like getting take homes the more progress you show , the staff has showed that they care about seeing my progress and I'm so glad I never walked away from stepping into that door I'm finally able to function like a normal person again and as a young single father be back in my 5 yr old daughters life thanks to methadone .

About 85% of the staff are great, and there to help you. The worst part about Mesilla valley is the mattresses and pillows they give us to sleep for days on as we're withdrawing. They destroy our backs and our necks. The food situation is good though because if you don't like what the cook made you can always go to the salad bar. The south building has always been way too cold, but a tech named Matt actually spoke directly to a maintenance man and got it a little warmer in there. We all truly appreciated that more than words can say. Mesilla valley's biggest downfall is that they need better beds for people to be withdrawing in. The only other downfall I can think of is the new bedding does not allow us to wrap ourselves in a blanket to stay warm in a building that feels like the middle of winter. Though I definitely appreciated the thicker blanket. It was still so cold in there though that you had to take the whole thing off the bed and sleep under both the bed cover and the top blanket. But like I said they fixed it mostly, it's still a bit too cold sometimes, but it is no longer unbearable unbearable. I would like to give a special shout out to a the best tech ever and I happen to have known from working there 30 years ago, Jose.

Great experience with Salvation Army. They did need to reschedule with me but they were very kind and flexible with my timeline for clearout. The gentleman who came were also kind and moved quickly.
