ComPsych was founded in 1984 and is a significant provider of mental health services. They offer their services through the GuidanceResources® brand which provides employee assistance programs (EAPs) and behavioral health support along with absence management tools for businesses.
The company has a team of in house experts that coordinate with providers to help ensure every member gets seamless and appropriate care while controlling costs for the company.
The behavioral health program is fully integrated with ComPsych’s EAP and work life balance services and offers a worldwide network so employees can easily access care no matter where they are.
Does ComPsych Cover Addiction Rehab?
ComPsych allows insurance plans to access a wide variety of behavioral health and support tools. However, the employer and insurance company will determine what coverage is available and at what level so be sure to get the insurance details before you start treatment.
ComPsych services are tailored to an employer’s budget, needs, and other considerations, which makes each plan unique. Most plans that use ComPsych will have at least some coverage for addiction and mental health treatment. You may need a doctor’s referral and/or preauthorization before you begin treatment.
Insurance plans want to cover medically needed care so it’s important to work with your doctor to come up with a treatment plan that’s appropriate for your needs. This will help you understand what type of treatment center to look for and can help prove medical necessity to your insurance carrier.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Exceptional Care, Life-Changing Experience at Asana Recovery
My journey with Asana Recovery has been nothing short of transformational. Walking through their doors, I wasn’t just another patient entering a treatment center—I was a person in need of compassion, structure, and genuine guidance. From the very beginning, the team at Asana made me feel seen, heard, and supported in a way that very few treatment centers truly deliver.
After just two months in recovery, I was given the incredible opportunity to become a house manager, which was a breathtaking experience. Not only did it deepen my recovery, but it allowed me to support others walking the same path. That chance to step into responsibility and service was life-changing, and it’s something I will always carry with me.
What sets Asana apart is the people. Jonathan and Linda, in particular, are shining examples of what makes this place extraordinary. Jonathan’s ability to connect with individuals on a deeply human level created a sense of trust that allowed me to open up and truly engage in the process. His wisdom, steadiness, and encouragement gave me tools that I will carry for the rest of my life. Linda’s presence is like a beacon—warm, nurturing, and absolutely unshakable. Her kindness and dedication went far beyond a “job”; it was clear she cares about every single person who comes through Asana’s program as if they were family.
And it isn’t just them—the entire Asana team embodies that same commitment. Whether it was the counselors guiding me through difficult conversations, the medical staff ensuring I was safe and cared for, or the support staff who brought positivity into every interaction, each person played an important role in making recovery feel possible. They created an environment that blended professionalism with heart, where structure and accountability were balanced with compassion and encouragement.
I’ve been to other facilities and spoken with countless people who have gone through recovery in different settings, and I can say without hesitation that Asana stands in a class of its own. Their approach is holistic, their community is genuine, and their impact is lasting.
To anyone considering Asana Recovery—whether for yourself or a loved one—know this: you will not just find treatment here; you will find hope, healing, and a family that will walk alongside you every step of the way. I am deeply grateful to Jonathan, Linda, and the entire Asana Recovery team for helping me reclaim my life.

Amazing residential home! Or at least the one I was at in Huntington beach. Love the food, staff, nd they also helped me get a job towards the end of my treatment!!
BEST PLACE EVER. I have tried various other doctors/clinics and none of them even begin to compare to this one. The staff here is absolutely amazing. I can’t even make a single complaint. Dr Son is the best as well. He explains everything and you truly feel like he understands you. I can proudly say this, this place saved my life. If you or someone you know needs help getting off opiates do it right the first time and come here. You won’t be disappointed. If you are specifically struggling with fentanyl please don’t waste your time with other ways. I have tried 6 other methods from lazer therapy to having the earpiece to suboxone. Methadone is the key to our current fentanyl crisis. This clinic makes recovery possible again!

The nurses at the hurst location and also Samantha the receptionist are all so kind and compassionate!! They all go above and beyond the call of duty. They should all be praised for their hard work and their kindness to their patients!!
Highly recommend this company! This is a great program for either first timers or if you are looking for something different to try in your recovery journey. The staff are supportive of your individualized needs and you get ample attention as opposed to fading into the background. Here you can build strong and trusting relationships with both staff and others seeking treatment. The IOP also helps you to continue building upon a foundation of mental and physical health as you move towards a more positive future. This is a review of them coming from the heart!

I was a patient at DFC rehab facility and recently graduated. I can say hands down they saved my life . Not only did they teach me about alcoholism and what it means to be in recovery . i developed long time friendships that i know will help me to stay sober . i also loved how caring the staff where. I wasn't the easiest patient at first but with their love and support i was able to not only become a recovering alcoholic but i have become a whole new person . I would highly recommend going here if you or a family member is still struggling

This was my second tine in DFC outpatient treatment, the reason I chose DFC was their teaching, there, client, and the friendly environment. I have been to many treatment centers in my past when I knew in my heart I was serious about recovering from drugs and alcohol. There was no other place that I wanted to go other than Design For Change. They give group and individual counseling tailored for the individual which helped me tremendously. They help me find out what I want and how to go about getting it in the group setting they don’t allow disturbances. They make sure everyone is focused. An attentive, which makes it easy to learn. DFC, my wife says thank you for giving her her husband back.

I don’t even know where to begin. This treatment center is truly changing lives. My husband attended their program during one of the hardest times our family has ever faced, and I can confidently say they gave us hope and confidence in his recovery.
From day one, the staff treated him with compassion and dignity. They weren’t just professionals—they were caring, patient, and truly passionate about helping people rebuild their lives. The counselors went above and beyond, not just helping him work through addiction, but helping him rediscover who he is without it.
What meant the most to me as a spouse was how they kept family involved and supported throughout the process. I felt heard and understood. This wasn’t just treatment—it was transformation.

Discovery Point is an amazing place. I’ve only been here for a week, but it already feels like home. A pool, nice gym, great staff, and amazing chefs. Drew (chef) on top of her great cooking, is so positive and always smiling, and Star makes the best desserts - we even get desserts at breakfast when she’s here!! At the support staff and nurses are so kind and patient.
So if you need a place to heal and recover from your addiction issues - this is the place:)

This place goes above and beyond for its clients. Let’s just say I’ve been there more than once on my road to recovery. The staff have become my second family. They have an alumni person that’s reaches out to clients to follow up after treatment and I call her my guardian angel. This place saved my life more than once and I believe it could do the same for you or your loved one. Highly recommend!

Great experience working through the telehealth program. Both counselors were awesome and I really felt connected to the group and they created a very safe environment.
These people have helped me recover from the worst point in my life to become a much better happier person today. I owe my life and my family to this place. Especially Leia, Cynthia, and Mary. But I want to thank everyone else for being a part of this process.

Everytime I come here the staff are beyond amazing very personable no judgement passed on and extremely helpful always quick and easy Cynthia is still my favorite though ;)
I could say a million things, but what I will say is this place saved my life. They really care. They get to the root of the problem, they don’t do a quick band aid fix. When I first arrived from Georgia I only intended to stay for residential but I went to php and graduated and I am now in sober living. I am truly thriving. My clinician through treatment was Shifra and no words could describe the role she played in my treatment. I never questioned not once if she cared. She is amazing, along with all the staff they know you by name and they love you. When I arrived I really felt like I had no soul and I wasn’t sure anything would help, but I took suggestions and I am still taking them. I am in the sober living part of first step and I have close to 5 months sober. A true miracle. I LOVE FIRST STEP AND EVERYTHING it stands for.

I was scared at first with the unknown of treatment. I felt the care th staff has, even Gus. I learned a lot from his groups. My clinician, Mrs. Deborah, was amazing! She knew what I needed and made sure everyone was taken care of with any issues. I enjoyed my roommates had a blast just hanging out and talking. I couldn’t have asked for a better place. I’m over 5 months sober and can’t wait for my year anniversary because I want to be apart of this program and help others. I would love to build a career here and that’s my goal. Highly recommend!!

Frequently Asked Questions
What ComPsych Services Do Employers Offer?
ComPsych offers service bundles under their GuidanceResources® brand. However, not every employer or insurance plan will have every service.
One of the most common ComPsych services you will see is an EAP. They have access to a large global network of providers so even multinational companies can offer cost effective employee support.
A ComPsych EAP will generally include work life services that help you address family and elder care issues along with financial or legal struggles. They have programs such as FamilySource and FinancialConnect along with LegalConnect and ElderOutreach.
Of course almost all ComPsych plans include behavioral health services. This includes mental health options and addiction treatment. ComPsych can connect plan members with all levels of care and promises a quick 24 hour turnaround on preauthorization requests.
Does ComPsych Cover Mental Healthcare?
ComPsych is an Employee Assistance Program provider. This means mental and behavioral health coverage is fully integrated into ComPsych’s plan options. However your specific insurance plan may have limits or requirements on coverage so be sure to get the details before you get started on a program.
Common mental health services include therapy and counseling along with crisis support and peer support services if needed. You can get help if you struggle with mental health issues such as depression or anxiety as well as PTSD and bipolar disorder and more.
Many people who have addiction issues also have a mental health diagnosis. This is known as a co occurring disorder or dual diagnosis. If you have a dual diagnosis it’s very important to get integrated care that addresses both issues at the same time in order to maximize your chances of long term recovery.
If you have a dual diagnosis make sure your doctor knows about both concerns so they can create an appropriate treatment plan for your needs.
What Inpatient Addiction Treatment Does ComPsych Cover?
ComPsych has resources for inpatient addiction treatment but your specific plan will ultimately determine what’s covered and at what level. Your insurance coverage focuses on medically necessary care which is generally determined from the treatment plan by your doctor.
You may need to take the ASAM assessment to help ascertain whether you need inpatient care. Residential care may involve a period of medical detox followed by 3-4 weeks of staying at a rehab facility for further treatment. Some residential care lasts up to 90 days. You’ll get counseling and group therapy along with recreation and help with overall wellness.
What Outpatient Rehab Does ComPsych Cover?
You may encounter three different types of outpatient rehab.
The shortest and least intense of these is general outpatient treatment. An intensive outpatient program (IOP) is the next step up in intensity, and the most intense outpatient program is a partial hospitalization program (PHP) which is also known as a day program.
Outpatient programs of any level allow you to live at home or in sober living while attending treatment. Your doctor will help determine the level of care you need and you may start with more intensive treatment and move down as you improve.
Does ComPsych Cover Methadone & Suboxone (MAT)?
ComPsych has resources for medication assisted treatment (MAT) but your specific insurance plan will determine what is covered and at what level. MAT is commonly used at the beginning of treatment for opioid use disorders. It may also be used for alcohol use disorders.
Methadone and suboxone are both medications that act on the same receptors as opioids. However, they are long acting and don’t deliver a high. The main difference between the two is that suboxone isn’t as strong as methadone. Both can be used for longer term treatment to help you stay stable during treatment and to lower the chances of relapse.
How Long Will ComPsych Cover Rehab?
Your insurance plan will determine the specific coverage limits. However the recommended length of care is determined by what’s medically necessary.
The average length of inpatient addiction treatment is three to four weeks but it can be as long as 90 days. Intensive outpatient care averages 8 to 12 weeks but it can be as few as six weeks or as much as 24 weeks. General outpatient care often offers programs of 30, 60, or 90 days.
What’s important is that you complete the entire treatment plan to set yourself up for long term recovery.
Does Addiction Treatment Need to Be In Network?
You’ll need to understand your insurance plan as well as ComPsych benefits to fully understand your coverage. Many insurance plans do not cover care outside of a specific medical network but some plans do have out of network care.
If they do cover out of network care it will generally cost quite a bit more than in network care. It’s generally easier and more affordable to stay in your network whenever possible.
If you’re considering an out of network provider it’s important to carefully review your plan and ensure that you fully understand the costs before you commit to treatment.
How to Verify Coverage With ComPsych
It’s important to verify your overall insurance details and the available benefits from ComPsych to get a full picture of what’s covered on your plan. You can verify coverage by logging into your member account online or calling ComPsych customer service.
If you have a treatment center picked out, you can also ask them to verify coverage. For this approach it’s important to give the center the exact plan name and not just the insurance company as there are a wide variety of plans.
Calls to any general helpline will be answered or returned by a paid advertiser.
