I’m a past client of A Place of Hope. My experience was a personal, professional and personalized program. It literally brought me out of complete self-despair. For anyone who surfers from anxiety, depression, drug abuse, personal abuse, mental disorders, PTSD, suicidal remuneration, abandonment or divorce, this was me . I recommend you at least stop in and be evaluated and go through A Place of Hope’s interview process. Be prepared for an accountability, being treated with respect and challenged to look inward, with a support network to walk alongside of you, with compassion. For me personally, this helped reframe my thinking and within my 30 day program. I left with a feeling of respect for others, myself and a new understanding of self-worth. As an alumni, I recently reached out to the Center for some personal assistance with my own self-care. Within hours the staff accompanied my request, gave me a plethora of resources to assist me. Offered me a book to be sent to my home, that they said, “You may find it helpful”. They also reminded me that I have access to their weekly Zoom meetings, for peer support. I’m grateful for there support and for me it’s was this support that reminded me the Center is there still for me in a time of need. Life continues to happen and we never know when you may need to ask for help. It’s ok to ask for help. You don’t have to do it alone. I’ll close with this.

The Center saved my life, and changed my life forever. I have never felt so cared for as I did here. The structure is just like it was in school— and the housing reminded me of dorms! And the housing is free, so it allows you the opportunity to start fresh. The sense of community paired with the support of the staff makes a difference. I was actually sad to leave! (Also, being 5 minutes from the ocean…so worth it haha) For those struggling with addiction (EDs, Alcohol, etc) this is the place to go.

RMTC was the best experience I’ve ever had . The equine therapy was the best experience I’ve ever had as well. I’ve been sober 2 years and 2 months since I left treatment and my life has changed in a positive way, im a different person now and I love me. Lorna really helped my family and I through some really touch stuff , she is an amazing lady. I want to thank everyone who was there when I went through. I remember Bobby coming to see me when I was in detox he prayed with me and sang it was beautiful he is so good at what he does thank you Bobby. I refer my patients to RMTC as I work at the providence psych ward as many people who go through our place are addicted and need help! I can’t say enough about RMTC Thank you

After creating what seemed like complete chaos and destruction in my life and running away from my problems for years, I found my way to Rocky. I showed up with nothing but the clothes on my back and the sliver of hope that I could return to living a life I was proud of. I was hesitant, as I have already been to treatment three other times, but with the support of my family, I made the decision. I was definitely terrified, but what I learned as I got acclimated, is that everyone there truly wants you to succeed. All of the staff have experienced addiction in one way or another, most being addicts or alcoholics themselves. The building is unassuming, but is rooted in a history of spirituality, which is something I was able to reconnect with during my stay, thanks to bible study and wellbriety. Side note: being a repeat treatment offender, I expected to already know most of the “curriculum”. This was not the case. I had never heard of Wellbriety (which turned out to be one of my favorite parts of the program) and everything was presented in a way that just made sense. Their equine program is exceptional and helped rebuild my confidence, which is something I was sorely lacking in. One thing I was particularly anxious about was family week. I had somewhat of a traumatic experience with family week at a previous treatment center. Yes, it was anxiety inducing, but the gifts I’m already receiving from it (more honest and open communication, strengthened relationships and understanding, the ability to own my past mistakes/shame/guilt, and increased self awareness) greatly outweigh the feelings of dread and despair I had before. I also appreciate being able to attend meetings outside of the facility. I chose to stick around Great Falls when I got out, so having that established support community was very helpful upon my discharge. I never thought I would be going through treatment again, but I’m so glad God led me to the doors of Rocky in Great Falls. It’s definitely not a magic pill for a better life, but if you’re willing to put in the hard work, be open minded, and tough out the difficult moments, I think you’ll find your experience to be pretty life changing. I know I did.

I found Crestview for my family member after a friend highly recommended it based on her experiences with it for her family member. My first point of contact was Garrett. As a psych/ER nurse myself, being on the other side of this moment was terrifying. He walked me through everything with empathy, kindness and true compassion. Our experience with Crestview Recovery Center exceeded every expectation we had. The level of care and compassion shown by the entire staff is truly exceptional. I came to Oregon Trail Recovery Services not as someone unfamiliar with addiction treatment, but as someone who has spent more than 15 years working in the behavioral health and substance use treatment field as a counselor, clinical supervisor, administrator, and advocate. That background gave me a unique perspective. I know what quality treatment looks like. I know the standards. I know the difference between simply providing services and truly helping people heal.

This experience has also reignited my passion for the behavioral health profession. Free goes beyond addiction and helps you to explore the reasons for your addiction. Most places treat the symptom but at Free they treat the symptom and the problem as long as you're open and honest with yourself.

I went into the inpatient program because my case manager at tue time works there and I had a bad weed addiction. They taught me a lot of skills to cope with the problems that I have that have lead me to use, such as DBT and ACT. The food there was amazing (we had a personal chef); we had days where we went to the gym, and we had movie nights. In all, I had a very good experience.

Most grateful for this treatment center on my 7th anniversary sober from alcohol. The seeds Hazeldon planted saved my life! Shame on whoever is letting Susan Nice run meetings out of your building. She let a stranger stroke my leg her entire meeting and never stopped it once. Had the audacity to ask if it was my boyfriend after. Knowing I live with PTSD from abuse being my longtime 'godsponsor'. She just spoke at the Canada opening. How are you letting someone so detached from reality speak to those in need of help? How many meetings has she been to? Her suggestions along with Laura Ws (whos Mom works with congress scary enough) and the ladies of AA in particular are reckless. Suggested I do my first lead of life and didnt show up. How many woman have you sponsored Laura? You suggested more fellowship and ditched me at my first AA dance. 2 ladies came to Windy City Church women's big book meeting on Mondays and felt so shamed the went home and killed themselves. Those ladies made me feel the same but I refuse to kill myself though your careless suggestions made me feel like I should. The ladies in AA arent doctors. Thanks for being professionals Hazeldon. Alano clubs are hot spots for gossip that's ruining lives. Grateful to be alive and sober. Thanks for starting my journey with me 14 years ago!

Does First Choice Health Cover Addiction Rehab?
Self funded employer plans are not required to offer coverage for addiction or mental health, but many of them will. One of the key services First Choice Health provides to interested employers is access to behavioral health programs and resources.
All insurance plans focus on covering medically necessary care so you’ll want to work closely with your doctor to create a treatment plan. This treatment plan will help you know what kind of care to look for and provide proof of medical need.
However every self funded employer plan is different so be sure to talk to the benefits specialist at your company to get the full details of your insurance before you commit to treatment.
What Are First Choice Health Plans?
First Choice doesn’t offer insurance plans directly — they help self funded employers offer insurance to employees by offering access to high quality medical networks and other services.
First Choice Health has a PPO network that has over 120,000 providers that represent all medical specialties. The network extends through 11 states: Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, Nebraska, and both Dakotas. The company helps employers with cost and medical management.
They also have health plan administration services to help employers manage their health plan and effectively offer insurance to employees. They can offer third party claims administration and cost containment along with data analysis.
Finally there are some specialty services available from First Choice Health. These include a clinically integrated network that can add support that traditional care team can’t. This can be helpful in complex healthcare situations and provides coordination between multiple facilities.
First Choice Health also connects employers to behavioral health services. This includes addiction treatment and mental healthcare. They provide a directory of in network providers to encourage members to stay in the network and they also have a behavioral health program with case managers for specific diagnoses so members have someone to guide them through the process of getting high quality care.
What Inpatient Addiction Treatment Does First Choice Cover?
While self funded plans are not required to cover addiction treatment under the Affordable Care Act many still will.
Insurance coverage is typically focused on medically necessary care which is why it’s so important to have a treatment plan with your doctor. If you need help in a residential facility your provider may rely on the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) assessment to determine if you meet certain criteria.
Once your doctor has assessed you you can discuss the possibility of medical detox and inpatient care — it may be safer for you to detox while under the care of medical professionals. Inpatient addiction care — with or without medical detox — is an intensive program that allows you to focus fully on your recovery.
What Outpatient Rehab Does First Choice Cover?
Outpatient treatment looks different for everyone. It is ideal for those with family or work obligations because you are at home outside of treatment sessions. Treatment consists of education and individual counseling along with group therapy. You’ll also have monitoring and help with relapse prevention.
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a day outpatient treatment. You spend your day in an intensive structured recovery program but you go home at night.
An intensive outpatient program (IOP) is another option and is ideal for those who need support after completing an inpatient program. It provides therapeutic processes for those who need support but you’re able to work the treatment around your work or school obligations.
Remember that self funded plans vary widely in requirements and limits as well as coverage so it’s always a good idea to check with your benefits specialist before committing to a treatment program.
Does First Choice Cover Methadone & Suboxone (MAT)?
If medically assisted treatment (MAT) is covered by your insurance plan it’s a valuable tool in the arsenal against addiction.
Medications like suboxone and methadone suppress cravings and block the high many get from using drugs and alcohol. These medications work well on a long term basis to manage cravings and help patients stay stable during treatment. They’re highly successful at preventing relapse.
Does First Choice Cover Other Mental Healthcare?
While self funded plans are not required to cover mental healthcare, many do. You must review your policy closely before starting any type of health care.
Mental health treatment generally includes counseling and crisis support for concerns such as depression and anxiety as well as PTSD and other diagnoses.
Addiction often goes hand in hand with mental illnesses which is known as co occurring disorders. It’s a vicious cycle as these conditions can move people toward addiction to cope and then addiction can make the conditions worse.
Treating mental illness and addiction at the same time is the most successful way to avoid relapse because these conditions feed into each other and you can’t successfully address one without the other.
Does Addiction Treatment Need to Be In Network?
First Choice Health offers out of network coverage as a PPO network. However, if you choose to go out of network for care, it’s important to remember that your copayments and deductibles will be significantly higher.
If possible, stay in network for your treatment to maximize your insurance coverage. Review your plan carefully and understand the costs before you choose an out of network provider.
What to Do if First Choice Won’t Cover the Cost of Rehab
Most self-funded plans cover some type of addiction treatment but if yours doesn’t — or doesn’t cover as much as you need — it’s still important to get the care you need.
Some treatment centers have a sliding fee scale based on income, and others offer payment plans or scholarships.
If you have savings or family help rely on that to help you get into a treatment program. There are also low cost and free rehabs that allow you to work rather than pay. One example of this is the Salvation Army.
Remember that no matter what your insurance coverage says you can’t put a price on your life.
How to Verify Coverage With First Choice
If you have questions about your coverage contact your benefits manager at your employer. If you have a customer service number you can use that as well. First Choice may provide benefit advice and help determine what treatment style you need and where you can get it based on your insurance plan.
You don’t want to ask a treatment center to verify your coverage because self funded plans are one of a kind and the center won’t have the most accurate information. Instead, talk to your benefits specialist or First Choice directly.
