Hands down the best decision I made for myself to save my life. I had no idea what to do with my life as I was spiraling into a seemingly inescapable abyss until I reached out to Treehouse. I had my reservations about going to a place like Treehouse as a member of the LGBTQ+ community but the amount of support and acceptance I received even before I committed to going was incredible. I gained the knowledge and tools that I use on a daily basis that help me live life to the fullest potential. I discovered new things about myself while going through the program by living outside of my comfort zone and allowing myself to try things I never thought I would be interested in. Treehouse was able to create a space where I could explore these new things and create strong bonds with guys that impacted my recovery in the best way possible and gave me a stronger foundation to move forward with my life. The therapy was life changing, shoutout to Chuck and Ryan, they saw something in me that I could not see for myself and helped me bring that out. The coaches were incredible as well, shoutout to Dylan, he taught me so much that went above and beyond physical fitness and weight training. Vechi and Brandon were instrumental in working with me to get me the help that I needed and incredible human beings. Words cannot express how grateful and honored I feel to have gone through and graduated from this program. If you're looking for a place that'll give you the best chance at success in recovery, this is it. You are worth it.

Accepted Insurance

Tree House Recovery works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.
sober-living iconSober Living Homes
Sober Living Houses (SLHs), aka sober homes or halfway houses, are safe, substance-free, supportive living facilities for those recovering from substance abuse. Ideal for those who've just been through inpatient or outpatient treatment, SLHs are supervised environments with rules that support sobriety, such as curfews, shared chores, and therapeutic meetings. Residents are also often trained on life skills and coping skills to make it easier to transition into society. SLHs also provide a strong sense of community that can lead to the kind of deep and lasting connections with other sober individuals that supports a new, healthy lifestyle.
12-step icon12-Step
Participants engaged in 12 step programs receive intensive peer coaching (sponsorship) and community support. Spiritual development as a means of achieving psychological and emotional healing and growth is the cornerstone of 12 step recovery, but religious affiliations are not required. Meetings are free, anonymous, and open to the public, though specialized formats are available, including groups for seniors, teens, and family members. Evening, night, and day meetings are conducted year-round in most communities.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in California teaches participants constructive ways to stay clean and sober. Treatment revolves around helping individuals stop using the substance they are addicted to and learn healthy habits to avoid relapse.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Fitness therapy blends exercise with psychotherapy for a fun, inspiring, and effective way of treating addiction and other issues. By incorporating movement into counseling sessions, clients become more empowered, motivated, and goal-oriented, all while strengthening their bodies and becoming more flexible. Fitness Therapy is usually used to complement a course of treatment (inpatient or outpatient) to make it even more successful. Increasing the connection between a patient’s mind and body helps both with healing as well as in creating new, healthy habits.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life. One of the many things that sets Tree House Recovery apart and above other programs is the fact that their Primary One-on-One Therapist is also their Clinical Director, providing her with direct, unfiltered contact with each of their residents. An additional and vital bonus that comes with this structure is the reality that absolutely nothing gets lost in the communication and/or translation of information and progress between the therapist and the Clinical Director because, at THR, those two key roles are filled by the same person.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

I showed up to Treehouse ready to change but i didn't know how to make these changes. Anything i tried alone always seemed to fail until i was accepted into the treehouse family. They showed me how to handle simple to complex tasks with a rational clear thinking mind. They gave me the tools and confidence to stay in a state of gratitude day in and day out. They solidified my hard working ethics and gave me a place to call home. We worked hard and we had a lot of fun. I particularly love the ocean (surfing, diving, skimboarding) so being on the boats with the team was my favorite part of the physical modalities. I owe it big time to the clinical staff for listening intently, caring and asking the right questions at the right time to help me work through a lifetime of baggage.

When I first walked through the doors at Treehouse, I was lost, broken, and trapped in a cycle of addiction that I never thought I could escape, Never! I had become a prisoner to alcohol and drugs, and my life was spiraling out of control. The guys at Treehouse, there programs, and there unwavering support, helped me find my way back to the person I was meant to be! At my lowest point, I felt like there was no hope But within the walls of Treehouse, I found Compassion, Understanding, and the TOOLS I needed to fight for my sobriety. Through counseling, support groups, and the kindness of those who had walked this path before me, I learned that I was NOT alone. I discovered strength within myself that I never knew existed, and for the first time in a long time, I believed in the possibility of change. I learned to take Responsibility for my Actions, to heal from the pain I had caused myself and others, and to embrace a FUTURE filled with HOPE. TREEHOUSE gave me the courage to rebuild relationships, to Chase Dreams I had long abandoned, and to live a life of PURPOSE and CLARITY. Today, I am proud to say that I am sober. Every morning, I wake up with a sense of Gratitude instead of dread. I have regained my health, my relationships, and most importantly, my sense of self-worth. NONE of this would have been possible without the GUIDANCE and SUPPORT that Treehouse provided me during my darkest days. I just want to say Thank You for being the place where I found healing, hope, and a second chance at life. I have and will carry the lessons I have learned within me ALWAYS, and I hope to one day give back to others who are fighting the same battle. Because of you, I am no longer just surviving, I am truly living! Much Love..

The principles and values taught at Tree House recovery are what i built my foundation of sobriety on. The head on and realistic approach to teaching the ways of a sober lifestyle is a unique technique that I’ve only ever heard of happening at tree house. I’ve built lifelong friendships as a result of successfully completing this program. I would recommend tree house recovery to anyone who’s ready to take back control of their life and get on the path to recovery.

I have taken the Tree House family program and highly recommend it. The family program helped me immensely to understand the disease and addiction. I've also been attending the monthly t Alumni meetings. A great group of supportive people. I have found Karen and the staff at Tree House very helpful in handling my loved one. I knew nothing when I was handed an overwhelming situation with my son. I was totally unprepared. I fell into unhelpful ways of interacting with him that I had no idea we're not helpful until I was educated by the Family program and interactions with Karen and the staff at Tree House. Karen is amazing and teaches in a way that someone who's unfamiliar with the material can understand and quickly apply . I feel supported in the family program. It has been an important part of my life. And helps keep me on track with my loved one. Victoria O'Shea

Treehouse was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. It’s really difficult to reach out and ask for help but as soon as I entered through the front doors I felt a sense of belonging. Through Treehouse I became apart of a community of people that shared the same desire to improve our lives. Would highly recommend to anyone that is struggling with addiction. It’s a super great experience that will give you the tools to go after the life you dream of.

Treehouse was everything advertised and more. Truly a life changing experience that has left me a better man and family member. It is a tough program in someways but big problems often require big solutions. To me Treehouse has certainly been a big part of that solution. The community that has been grown around Treehouse has been amazing to see and be a part of. Highly recommend if you or a loved one is struggling.
