From the first time I visited Able to Change I could tell when I first walked in by the amazing Energy in the beautiful office. Able To Change is a very-very special place. And then I met SarahLyn Cohen the owner and let me tell you she's changed my life from that day forward. Mick Armfield is a shining star in our industry. He has more love in his heart than most people put together. He will do anything he can to help clients as well as help his colleagues.. I would absolutely 100% send my children, grandchildren or family members to Able to Change. I know that they would be in very safe, loving hands. I thank you, SarahLyn For turning tragedy Into triumph. You save lives, help families heal, and help me to believe that there are still good people programs in our field. I am honored to call SarahLynn and Mick Armfield, my friends and mentors. And by the way, they will love you until you can love yourself. They will love your loved one until they can love themselves.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

When addicted, quitting your drug of choice suddenly can be dangerous. That's why experts agree a medically assisted detox is the safest way to remove addictive substances from the body. Usually done in an inpatient setting, your vitals signs and overall well being are consistently monitored and rechecked in order to keep you safe and ensure the detox is successful.

inpatient iconInpatient

Inpatient rehab provides intensive treatment for clients exiting detox, those in early recovery, and those at an elevated risk of relapse. Unlike outpatient drug rehab, clients receiving inpatient care reside at the facility for the duration of the program. The length of stay may range from two weeks to 18 months or more, depending on the client's needs and the program's design. Inpatient treatment typically involves extensive addiction education and recovery-focused life skills training.

partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program

Commonly known as "day treatment," a partial hospitalization program (PHP) is an intensive form of outpatient treatment where clients meet during the day and return home in the evening. PHP treatment doesn't require 24-hour care and often serves as an alternative to inpatient hospitalization or a step-down after a residential program. With PHP treatment, you can receive daily support for 6 to 8 hours which includes evidence-based therapies and medication management. The cost of PHP treatment typically varies but averages 90 days.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive outpatient programs (IOP) support a client's sustained sobriety as they exit detox or step down from an inpatient program. IOPs are also designed for clients who are at an elevated risk of relapse. Intensive outpatient treatment typically requires clients to engage in a minimum of nine hours of therapy per week, but clients may receive up to 20 therapeutic hours weekly. IOP treatment modalities often combine psychotherapy, recovery-focused life skills training, and medication assisted treatment (MAT).

outpatient iconOutpatient

Clients receiving treatment at an outpatient rehab typically do not require hospitalization or intensive supervision and support. Outpatient addiction counseling and recovery education are often offered during the morning, evening, night, and weekend, allowing clients to tailor treatment to their own schedule. Partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) programs are the most time-intensive and are designed for clients who are at an increased relapse risk and/or who need more robust therapeutic support.

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Rehab aftercare programs offer clients in addiction recovery a robust continuum of care after clients have completed active treatment. These services address recovery as a life-long process and are designed to evolve with clients' changing needs. Clients may partner with their case managers and/or addiction recovery team to identify the rehab aftercare services that are right for them. They may receive career counseling, housing assistance, peer coaching, 12 step program induction, among many other services.

Treatments

Alcoholism, or alcohol use disorder (AUD), is defined by alcohol dependence. This is a state the body reaches when it experiences withdrawal symptoms in the absence of alcohol. A person who has AUD craves alcohol and continues to drink despite adverse consequences. Because withdrawing from alcohol can pose health risks, individuals with AUD should seek professional alcohol rehab in California to overcome their alcohol addiction. This process typically involves medical detox, rehabilitation, and maintenance.

Drug rehab in California teaches participants constructive ways to stay clean and sober. Treatment revolves around helping individuals stop using the substance they are addicted to and learn healthy habits to avoid relapse.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

In California, substance abuse treatment programs can help individuals with any type of substance use disorders and co-occurring conditions. These rehab programs typically encompass various levels of care, including medically assisted detox, intensive outpatient, outpatient, residential rehab, and partial hospitalization. You can expect clinicians to utilize evidence-based therapies like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and mindfulness to help you achieve and sustain your recovery. The rehab's clinical team can provide a comprehensive assessment to determine the appropriate level of care and medical support you may need.

In California, dual-diagnosis addiction treatment programs offer comprehensive care for individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. Programs include medically assisted detox, intensive outpatient, outpatient, residential rehab, and partial hospitalization. Using an evidence-based approach, clinicians utilize therapies like cognitive behavioral therapy, or dialectical behavioral therapy and mindfulness to address substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health challenges. Additional services include 12-Step recovery, group therapy, family counseling, and relapse prevention to promote sustained recovery.

Inpatient treatment for drug and alcohol addiction with a focus on mental health is a good fit for people who need closer monitoring and care. Treatment may occur in a hospital setting, a clinic, or a luxury rehab center. Mental health counselors and staff are available 24/7. Therapies typically include group and individual counseling, relapse prevention education, and emotional coping skills training.

Programs

Adult program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image

Program for men

Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image

Program for women

Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image

Young adult program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive behavioral therapy in California is a method that therapists often use for the effective treatment of substance use disorders. It is based on the principle that substance abuse stems from unhelpful ways of thinking and patterns of behavior, which can be changed by helping the individual learn better ways of coping.

While participating in dialectical behavior therapy in California, you'll focus on four key areas of skill development: mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, emotion regulation, and distress tolerance. Treatment includes weekly individual and group sessions.

Family therapy offers a platform for members to have an open dialogue about the challenges that addiction has placed on the family unit. Through guided sessions, therapists can help families develop healthy communication skills and address unresolved issues. By working together toward a common goal, they help to support their loved one's sobriety.

During group therapy, men and women learn to express their emotions openly in a non judgmental setting. This helps you process your feelings and reduces feelings of social isolation that are often associated with addiction.

Individual therapy for drug addiction includes a customized treatment plan that considers your history and life circumstances. During your therapy sessions, the therapist helps you uncover underlying issues and triggers for addictive behavior that support a holistic approach to recovery.

Trauma therapy is a structured approach used by therapists to help you heal from a past traumatic event. Your therapist works with you to identify the traumatic memory and process the information so you experience emotional healing and a sense of safety and stability.

My sincere gratitude to Able2Change! As a mom, I was feeling so desperate, so scared and hopeless, if Im being honest. My 26 year old son was in pretty bad shape, mentally. He was unable to function in a healthy way. Due to his mental illness caused by his addiction, he was unable to work, finish college or live on his own. That is what brought him back to living in our home. This was creating complete chaos in our lives. His life and ours. Every day, our hearts were being ripped opened. I spent countless hours (literally) on the phone and in person, researching different rehab type places only to be disappointed or turned away. The first person I spoke to at A2C was Mick, who was absolutely amazing. He was kind and reassuring at a time we needed it the most. We set up a time to meet and I immediately felt at ease, maybe things were going to be okay. Our next encounter was with Saralyn, CEO of A2C. There are not enough words to express how kind, empathetic and lovely she was. I immediately felt A2C was the right fit for our son. Our son began treatment immediately. PHP then IOP. His therapist/case mgr, Jessica, was extremely instrumental in his recovery. She has a way about her that is kind yet professional. Its obvious she is very good at what shes does, brings back a sense of self and normalicy to someone who is suffering. A huge THANK YOU to Jessica. Christian was his psych np who was able to convince r son its okay to take medication to help his symptoms. That in itself was a miracle as he was extremely opposed to medication prior to going to A2C. 3 months later, r son has moved to his own place and is planning to attend university to complete his BS degree. I know, going forward, our son will have to do his part in recovery to be successful in life but, I have to say with absolute certainty, A2C was the catlyst for our son's new beginning!!

Response from the owner
Thank you so much for your kind and heartfelt words. It truly means the world to all of us at Able2Change to hear that your family found support and healing during such a difficult time.

We’re honored to have walked alongside your son in his recovery journey and to have played a small part in helping him rediscover his strength and potential. The courage and commitment your family showed — especially your love and advocacy as a mom — were powerful and inspiring.

Every step of recovery takes effort, hope, and trust, and we’re just grateful to have been part of that process. We’re so encouraged to hear about the positive changes your son is making, and we’ll continue to cheer him on as he takes the next steps in life.

Please know that our doors remain open to you — and we’re here whenever you may need support again.

I'd like to thank Saralyn the excellent counselors and staff at this awesome establishment. I was a wreck coming into this facility. I was lost in my life. With the help from Able to Change I'm exiting with direction in life and a new found purpose. I've learned to not look for in others what I need to find within myself. It wasn't always sunshine and rainbows, but I've succeeded in gaining an excellent sense of self and accomplishment. I was reminded that no matter how people treat you, and the circumstances life puts you in are not always your fault, but to trudge through the hard times while taking the next indicated step, success is possible and the harder the struggle the greater the reward. Special thanks to my wonderful therapist, Jessica and Brooks my house manager. I hope you continue to show people that it's worth it as long as you just keep trying and there's a light at the end of the tunnel of despair. Update: I'm thriving. Doing great!
