But after over a decade of my life being chaotic and out of control, I surrendered and realized it was time to get help. And that’s when I found capo! I spoke with Sean the director of admissions and knew this was the right place for me to get my life back. The entire staff is incredible. They make you feel welcome and comfortable. Although I recently found out Gino is no longer the chef, that man will forever be my favorite thing about capo! He was truly one of a kind. Special shout out to Marsalee and Aster for giving me the guidance I was ready to finally take in. There are sooooo many amazing things that make this rehab unique from others. For one you can tell they actually care about you. They listen to you. The level of care here is phenomenal. As others have mentioned they really do treat you as an individual. On top of that all the groups and panels they have really open up your mind. The environment is really conductive to self reflection. The program is well structured and the individual therapy is world class. Everyone that works there is wonderful. I miss Capo Canyon. Geof — the best advocate I could’ve asked for during some of my hardest moments. When emotions were running high, he always knew how to help me cool off and reset my mind. Sometimes that meant getting me out near the water so I could breathe and clear my head before making things worse. Just an all-around badass with a huge heart. I went in July 11, 2016. I have been sober since July 12, 2016. I was there for 82 days. I honestly wanted to stay longer, but the opportunity to even get the chance to work on my recovery in such a beautiful place was a blessing. I was terrified and did not even want to live anymore. My family talked me into asking for help. I tried to get help in my local area of Louisville Ky witch actually has some amazing recovery. However God had different plans. I called the addiction hotline and explained my circumstances. They found a place that could help me safely detox from the many substances I was putting in my body. They said we have your bed ready and your plane ticket booked. Fear immediately set in but I knew I could not continue on my path of distruction so I got on the plane. When I arrived in California I was taken under the wings of the amazing staff at ARC. I was met with compassion and care on a level that completely changed the course of my life forever. They showed me how to be sober one day at a time. We laughed together, cried together and I developed friendships that I still have today. When I was early in recovery my emotions were so strong. My therapist Jenn spent all the extra time with me that I needed. The staff met me where I was at and supported my journey every step of the way. The thing I miss the most besideds the very extravant home I was staying in was the programing, we did our classes and learned about adiction, but they also promoted healing with yoga, meditation, sound baths, harp players, you name it. They would take us on outings and show us that sober can be fun too. The 75 days spent in the ARC Program was a truly spiritual experience. After coming back home to Kentucky I was armed with the facts about my disease and a plan that they helped me set up for success. The biggest thing is though that even though I completed the program ARC still keeps in touch with me to see how im doing. I talk to Casey frequently and let her know what my life looks like as the result of what they are doing at ARC to change peoples lives. To me this verse speaks to my heart if i sacrife my old ways to follow christ god gives me authority to pick up a new life with him one with purpose and fullfilment. But i have to chose to give it up. I have to want a new life with him and for me. To be transformed by the renewal of my mind and heart. What is impossible for man is made possible with god. They have created a safe, therapeutic environment that is welcoming to all. The spiritual component of the program is available to all, but is not mandatory. You can participate at the level you are comfortable with while still receiving all of the services they have to offer. Jeremiah was an outstanding case manager who is extremely knowledgeable while also being relatable. His well rounded approach to rehabilitation was inspiring. My husband of 20+ yrs was in the In Patient Treatment at the Men’s Facility for 60 days and is now attending Intensive Outpatient Program as recommended by Mr. Ed his therapist and Jeremiah his case manager. Aaron and Andrew the house managers and Jim the night house manager all took such great care of my husband. Covenant Hills has 2 pathways, the traditional based and the faith based. The skills and tools my husband learned are leading him to a successfully sober life. Mr. Ed involves the family in recovery and teaches during family group every week. If you are reading this, you or a loved one are probably in need of help, my heart is with you, you CAN recover from the hellish trap of substance use. Please stop reading and call Chapters, they are the best you will ever find and they will help you today. I knew, most importantly that I needed a place that could specifically treat the things in my life that threatened my sobriety. Chapters Capistrano came up right away in my search for its gorgeous amenities and outstanding ability to individualize treatment needs. One wonderful difference from most is being able to keep your phone the whole stay. The company is large with resources beyond belief. I had an unbelievable amount of input and choice in my care plan. Going to treatment is scary, and trying to understand how you are going to stop, is the most confusing and complicated feeling you will ever have, but I promise Chapter’s offers. I felt like a guest on a beautiful wellness retreat, and so did all of the other clients in my home, even the ones who came in drunk. The staff go to every length to make sure that even tho you are there for treatment, you never ever feel like a “patient”. My insurance would not cover my treatment b/c the medical necessity wasn’t there, so I had to pay cash. I would pay it all over again. I have been in therapy once a week for several years, and it has been incredibly helpful, but the intensive therapy I had while being at Chapters, was so much help that I didn’t even know I needed, b/c life was good without substances anymore. The food was fabulous. We could order take out if we wanted. We had DoorDash ice creams on a whim and made s’mores in the fire pit on the balcony. We healed all while sitting in the hot tub overlooking the ocean. We played at the beach, went to the farmers market on the weekends, and even had a zip lining excursion for those who wanted to go!! This is not your average spin dry. I call it a wellness retreat. ☺️ I hope this helps someone trying to make a decision. You are worth it. Your life is worth it, and there is such a beautiful world out here just waiting for you❤️ I will add a bit more detail here, just incase someone wants to know what an actual day is like here. We had group sessions in the morning, in the living room of our home. They were led by our therapist, and the topics for the day changed depending on our specific needs as a group. Everything from people pleasing, to things that trigger us with family, job stress, etc.. Each day was geared to whatever topics were populated by the current clients. There were only 5 of us in the group, so it was very personal and productive vs. being in a large group and feeling like one of 30 in a generic “class” about why drugs are bad. This was time for discussing what really hindered us. What things we were going through on a daily basis at home, and how to fix them. Mid-day was one on one with our personal therapists. They covered everything that was not a “whole group” issue, one on one stuff, like maybe sexual abuse, toxic relationships, legal matters, horrible job conditions, all and any individual troubles. In the afternoon we had time to go to the gym, have massage therapy, acupuncture treatments, private yoga class, art therapy, and REST. In the later evening, we had the option of attending outside community meetings of the many various kinds of organizations you would find in your local areas, so that you can leave with an understanding of each programs offerings, and know exactly what to do and where to go when you get home so you can keep applying all that you have learned to the new life ahead of you. They go above and beyond. I need to give a shoutout to the M4 staff. They went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and at home…so thank you, Justin, Jose, Allen, Alex, & Theresa! The program is excellent and you learn everyday tools that you can implement into your everyday life to stay sober. My Case Manager, Cecilia and my therapist, Scott were amazing! Cecilia was on top of filing all my paperwork from FMLA to Short Term Disability. Scott…therapist of ALL therapist. He is absolutely amazing and I feel so blessed to have had him as my therapist. John A (The Director of Operations) has been excellent at his job & while I was in treatment (90 days) I saw a huge improvement within the company. We went on a lot of fun excursions like kayaking, biking by the beach, whale watching, ect. They offer yoga and you can workout with a personal trainer during the week. We also went on little excursions during the week such as, walking on the beach or grabbing ice cream on the pier. The coolest thing is that you could keep your phone & other electronics to stay in touch with your support system & what’s going on in the outside world. Whereas most rehab facilities look down upon keeping your electronic devices. The homes are well kept. Rooms and bathrooms are clean and comfortable. I have absolutely no complaints about the housing accommodations. Food is a 10/10. If you have dietary restrictions they will accommodate your dietary needs whether it is a gluten free diet to a vegan diet. The food is pretty delicious and you get pretty large portions. I cannot say anything negative about this company. As a client they have treated me with kindness, respect, helpfulness , & have been empathetic to my situation. They have gone above to teach me the tools I need to live a healthy sober lifestyle. If you’re ready to take that leap of living a sober lifestyle then this is the company to take that leap with.
