The counselors, therapists, and support staff truly went above and beyond. They believed in me even when I struggled to believe in myself. Through their guidance, encouragement, and dedication, I gained valuable tools, confidence, and hope for the future. Instead, I felt supported every step of the way by people who genuinely cared about my success and well-being. K J 3 months ago this was the best rehab i’ve ever been to (out of many) the staff -nurses, admin, group leaders were amazing and the therapists were incredible. i got a lot of therapy even in the smaller group sessions and was able to really dive in and work on my mental health - they offer emdr which was life changing. very nice facility and great food. i would recommend this place to anyone and if i need to go back this is where i would go 100%. i cant reiterate how great of a rehab is enough. there is one on one help available at all times and he environment is very supportive. it’s the perfect blend of therapy, getting used to a healthy lifestyle again, eastern and western approaches to healing and the schedule is flexible to fit ur needs. I do want to say, respectfully, that there are always two sides to every story, and this reflects only one perspective. From my personal experience, Hope by the Sea has helped many people I have personally referred—including many individuals who returned home to Hawaiʻi and remains clean and sober today. That matters deeply to me. This is a faith-based program, and while AA or NA may help some, I truly believe lasting freedom comes through Jesus Christ. He is the author and finisher of our faith, and no program—on its own—can replace Him. I also believe it’s important to be mindful of how we share criticism. Dwelling in negativity does not glorify God, and there are ways to express concerns while still extending grace. That said, I sincerely pray you find the right support and the healing you’re seeking. If you are reading this, you or a loved one are probably in need of help, my heart is with you, you CAN recover from the hellish trap of substance use. Please stop reading and call Chapters, they are the best you will ever find and they will help you today. I knew, most importantly that I needed a place that could specifically treat the things in my life that threatened my sobriety. Chapters Capistrano came up right away in my search for its gorgeous amenities and outstanding ability to individualize treatment needs. One wonderful difference from most is being able to keep your phone the whole stay. The company is large with resources beyond belief. I had an unbelievable amount of input and choice in my care plan. Going to treatment is scary, and trying to understand how you are going to stop, is the most confusing and complicated feeling you will ever have, but I promise Chapter’s offers. I felt like a guest on a beautiful wellness retreat, and so did all of the other clients in my home, even the ones who came in drunk. The staff go to every length to make sure that even tho you are there for treatment, you never ever feel like a “patient”. My insurance would not cover my treatment b/c the medical necessity wasn’t there, so I had to pay cash. I would pay it all over again. I have been in therapy once a week for several years, and it has been incredibly helpful, but the intensive therapy I had while being at Chapters, was so much help that I didn’t even know I needed, b/c life was good without substances anymore. The food was fabulous. We could order take out if we wanted. We had DoorDash ice creams on a whim and made s’mores in the fire pit on the balcony. We healed all while sitting in the hot tub overlooking the ocean. We played at the beach, went to the farmers market on the weekends, and even had a zip lining excursion for those who wanted to go!! This is not your average spin dry. I call it a wellness retreat. ☺️ I hope this helps someone trying to make a decision. You are worth it. Your life is worth it, and there is such a beautiful world out here just waiting for you❤️ I will add a bit more detail here, just incase someone wants to know what an actual day is like here. We had group sessions in the morning, in the living room of our home. They were led by our therapist, and the topics for the day changed depending on our specific needs as a group. Everything from people pleasing, to things that trigger us with family, job stress, etc.. Each day was geared to whatever topics were populated by the current clients. There were only 5 of us in the group, so it was very personal and productive vs. being in a large group and feeling like one of 30 in a generic “class” about why drugs are bad. This was time for discussing what really hindered us. What things we were going through on a daily basis at home, and how to fix them. Mid-day was one on one with our personal therapists. They covered everything that was not a “whole group” issue, one on one stuff, like maybe sexual abuse, toxic relationships, legal matters, horrible job conditions, all and any individual troubles. In the afternoon we had time to go to the gym, have massage therapy, acupuncture treatments, private yoga class, art therapy, and REST. In the later evening, we had the option of attending outside community meetings of the many various kinds of organizations you would find in your local areas, so that you can leave with an understanding of each programs offerings, and know exactly what to do and where to go when you get home so you can keep applying all that you have learned to the new life ahead of you. They go above and beyond. I need to give a shoutout to the M4 staff. They went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and at home…so thank you, Justin, Jose, Allen, Alex, & Theresa! The program is excellent and you learn everyday tools that you can implement into your everyday life to stay sober. My Case Manager, Cecilia and my therapist, Scott were amazing! Cecilia was on top of filing all my paperwork from FMLA to Short Term Disability. Scott…therapist of ALL therapist. He is absolutely amazing and I feel so blessed to have had him as my therapist. John A (The Director of Operations) has been excellent at his job & while I was in treatment (90 days) I saw a huge improvement within the company. We went on a lot of fun excursions like kayaking, biking by the beach, whale watching, ect. They offer yoga and you can workout with a personal trainer during the week. We also went on little excursions during the week such as, walking on the beach or grabbing ice cream on the pier. The coolest thing is that you could keep your phone & other electronics to stay in touch with your support system & what’s going on in the outside world. Whereas most rehab facilities look down upon keeping your electronic devices. The homes are well kept. Rooms and bathrooms are clean and comfortable. I have absolutely no complaints about the housing accommodations. Food is a 10/10. If you have dietary restrictions they will accommodate your dietary needs whether it is a gluten free diet to a vegan diet. The food is pretty delicious and you get pretty large portions. I cannot say anything negative about this company. As a client they have treated me with kindness, respect, helpfulness , & have been empathetic to my situation. They have gone above to teach me the tools I need to live a healthy sober lifestyle. If you’re ready to take that leap of living a sober lifestyle then this is the company to take that leap with.
