As someone who has gone through this program twice in one year I can say many good things and many things that truly need to be fixed. Starting off with the negative, This place deserves not help treat anger issues or help with anger management. They claim that every emotion is valid but when it comes to anger you receive a response of shame and are treated as if your are a violent criminal, even if you do not threaten violence and have never been physical. They also tend to baby and shelter any individual who is a bit different or difficult because they dont want deal with it, many times an individual left me feeling very uncomfortable and because I knew how to speak up and advocate for myself they thought I was strong enough to handle it, that person still makes me traumatized at the thought and if you were a staff member there from January 2024 through February 2024, im Sure you were also left traumatized by this patient. There were so many times I was left feeling ashamed, embarrassed, and like I was a bad person because they chose to protect that patient. They also spend so much time trying to prevent individuals from being triggered that they end up not teaching them how to deal with he real world. If you have a voice and advocate for what you believe is right, prepare to be silenced half the time. ending of with the positive, Specific staff member truly dedicated the long and hard hours to supporting each kid. My clinical mentor Mikayla was amazing and so was my therapist Brenda. Some of the CC's were amazing (Jessica S, Vanessa, and Val all need a raise). The teachers were AMAZING Steven and manahill made me want to school and were supportive to every kid no matter how difficult they were. They also made it possible for there to be 2 outings a week, one choice outing, and nights that we would eat out. They had community meetings which gave us the possibility to hold eachother accountable and lear how to be respectful even when dealing with confrontation. The food by chef alba was amazing and at times they made it comforting to be there even tho I hated it sometimes. Even tho the first time was not productive do to my lack of effort I left with many tools and reasources!! Please interview your staff better and stop hiring CC's who hate their job, hate kids, and just want to get there supervised hours and want to move on to being a therapist. do better!

⚠️ Mission Prep Healthcare Review: A Warning to Parents If you are considering placing your teen at Mission Prep Healthcare, please think twice. Our experience with this facility was not only disappointing—it was traumatizing for our entire family. What began as a hopeful decision to help our 15-year-old son with depression turned into one of the most distressing and unprofessional situations we’ve ever faced. About four weeks into their so-called “six-week therapeutic program,” we were blindsided by a false report to California Child Protective Services (CPS) filed by Mission Prep Healthcare staff. Without any prior conversation, clarification, or evidence, they accused our family of neglect—claiming our home had no electricity, running water, or food. These were blatant lies. CPS conducted a full investigation. They found a spotless, well-kept home with all utilities running, a stocked pantry, and our children living in comfort. Investigators were visibly shocked by how far from the truth Mission Prep Healthcare’s report was. The case was dismissed immediately, but the emotional damage and humiliation of being wrongfully accused of child neglect is something no parent should ever have to experience. When we confronted Mission Prep Healthcare, they admitted to filing the report—without apology or explanation. They never once attempted to clarify anything with my wife, who regularly attended family sessions and Sunday visits. Their reckless behavior could have easily resulted in serious legal consequences or temporary loss of custody based entirely on false claims. This incident exposed just how unprofessional and dangerous this organization truly is. Mission Prep Healthcare appears quick to call CPS rather than communicating with parents, showing an alarming lack of judgment, ethics, and accountability. Further research revealed that our experience wasn’t unique. Multiple other families have reported: - False or unnecessary CPS involvement. - Unsafe living conditions where teens have escaped unsupervised. - Staff outbursts, self-harm incidents, and overdoses within the facility. - Poor communication, broken promises, and unqualified or temporary therapists. These are not isolated incidents—they are a pattern. Mission Prep Healthcare’s high staff turnover, questionable clinical practices, and disregard for family communication make it clear this program is not the safe, therapeutic environment it claims to be. If you value your child’s safety, privacy, and emotional well-being, do not trust Mission Prep Healthcare. There are far better, more ethical treatment centers available that truly support teens and families instead of traumatizing them. We are now pursuing legal action against Mission Prep Healthcare for filing a false CPS report and causing unnecessary emotional distress. Parents deserve to know the truth: this facility is not safe, not professional, and should not be trusted with your child’s care.

No residential treatment program is going to be perfect, but after looking into multiple options I chose this program for my child. Ultimately, when they came home they had mainly positive things to say about the program and most of the staff members. They have a number of organized outings and there was a good balance of therapy and social activities. The one thing I think could be improved on are the food options as my child is very restrictive with dietary needs. However, they did offer me to send a care package to accommodate these special needs. I appreciate all of the time and efforts of the staff to make the environment welcoming during a challenging time for my child.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Clients receiving treatment at an outpatient rehab typically do not require hospitalization or intensive supervision and support. Outpatient addiction counseling and recovery education are often offered during the morning, evening, night, and weekend, allowing clients to tailor treatment to their own schedule. Partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) programs are the most time-intensive and are designed for clients who are at an increased relapse risk and/or who need more robust therapeutic support.

Inpatient rehab provides intensive treatment for clients exiting detox, those in early recovery, and those at an elevated risk of relapse. Unlike outpatient drug rehab, clients receiving inpatient care reside at the facility for the duration of the program. The length of stay may range from two weeks to 18 months or more, depending on the client's needs and the program's design. Inpatient treatment typically involves extensive addiction education and recovery-focused life skills training.

Intensive outpatient programs (IOP) support a client's sustained sobriety as they exit detox or step down from an inpatient program. IOPs are also designed for clients who are at an elevated risk of relapse. Intensive outpatient treatment typically requires clients to engage in a minimum of nine hours of therapy per week, but clients may receive up to 20 therapeutic hours weekly. IOP treatment modalities often combine psychotherapy, recovery-focused life skills training, and medication assisted treatment (MAT).

Using telehealth options in California allows you to share health information with your provider via phone call, video chat, or healthcare apps. You can meet with them virtually as well as submit health information online so they can track your progress without having to meet with them in person.

Treatments

Inpatient treatment for drug and alcohol addiction with a focus on mental health is a good fit for people who need closer monitoring and care. Treatment may occur in a hospital setting, a clinic, or a luxury rehab center. Mental health counselors and staff are available 24/7. Therapies typically include group and individual counseling, relapse prevention education, and emotional coping skills training.

Programs

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.

Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.

Clinical Services

During group therapy, men and women learn to express their emotions openly in a non judgmental setting. This helps you process your feelings and reduces feelings of social isolation that are often associated with addiction.

Individual therapy for drug addiction includes a customized treatment plan that considers your history and life circumstances. During your therapy sessions, the therapist helps you uncover underlying issues and triggers for addictive behavior that support a holistic approach to recovery.

Family therapy offers a platform for members to have an open dialogue about the challenges that addiction has placed on the family unit. Through guided sessions, therapists can help families develop healthy communication skills and address unresolved issues. By working together toward a common goal, they help to support their loved one's sobriety.

Trauma therapy is a structured approach used by therapists to help you heal from a past traumatic event. Your therapist works with you to identify the traumatic memory and process the information so you experience emotional healing and a sense of safety and stability.

Cognitive behavioral therapy in California is a method that therapists often use for the effective treatment of substance use disorders. It is based on the principle that substance abuse stems from unhelpful ways of thinking and patterns of behavior, which can be changed by helping the individual learn better ways of coping.

While in rehab treatment, you may work on developing various life skills to help you in long term recovery. These may include resilience, interpersonal skills, and self awareness. The focus will be on developing healthy habits for self care and relationships so you have the skills you need to manage day to day life.

Don’t send your child here. This place is not good. I did my due diligence with trying the find the right RTC for my child and since I have voiced concerns and want to seek other help for my child they are holding my child so they can get more money and reporting me to CPS. I cannot stress enough this is the absolute wrong place to send your child. Don’t do it. They don’t require the children to participate in services. I hope my child will be able to come home soon so we can get the right treatment.
