This place is amazing! Sobermans truly saved my life! I had been to 2 places before & unfortunately neither one helped in the long run. I was literally on the verge of destroying my entire life with an opioid addiction & don’t even remember the days before detox or the first few days in detox, it was that bad. So while I was in detox, I was on the verge of hopelessness sitting in regret & overwhelmed by past trauma when someone came to me and said, your only option at this point is Soberman’s. I had never heard of them before, but at this point I’m willing to try anything so, let’s get it going as soon as I leave detox. All I can say is this place is magical! From the first night until the last I felt like I was exactly where I was supposed to be. For the first time in my life everything made sense & I felt safe because of Soberman’s way of doing things. The labyrinth has an energy like I’ve never felt before, it’s like everyone who had been there before left a little part of themselves to help those to come. The staff all have stories of their own & are some of the most beautiful human beings I’ve had the pleasure to be around. The Alumni are great & very supportive! I was fortunate enough while I was there to do 2 Alumni dinners, so I was able to meet a lot of them during the dinner. I’ve also had the pleasure of going to one dinner since I’ve been out which was fun. The Alumni are very supportive & always available, which is something I’ve never had before. A group you can always call on & they also have a weekly zoom call to check in too. Sobermans helped guide me to my recipe for success & I will forever be grateful! I’ve been Sober for 8 months now & have no desire to use, but if I do I now have the skills to deal with it in a healthy way. Thank You to everyone at Sobermans!

Soberman’s Estate was everything I needed for my recovery. The staff, the program, physical activity and culinary experience were top notch and essential. The program is well designed and worked better than I expected. The staff is remarkable - professional, considerate and genuinely caring. My time there and being removed from alcohol for five weeks was everything I needed to remove my craving for alcohol. Soberman has changed my life in ways I never could have imagined. I feel confident, secure and grateful for my new life. I have reconnected with my family and friends. Thank you Soberman.

I had my phone the whole time. For anyone coming from a detox program where everything gets locked away, that's worth knowing. Being able to stay in contact with family and handle things in my life while doing the program made it feel sustainable, not like I'd put everything on pause.

Friday mornings are alumni speaker meetings. Someone who's been through the program and come out the other side sits with the current group and talks about what it looked like. That's a different kind of session than anything a therapist can run, and it became the part of the week I looked forward to most.

The clinical building being separate from the housing is a detail that sounds small but makes a big practical difference. You go there to work, and you come back to somewhere calmer when the day is done. That separation gave the whole experience a clearer shape.

Friday afternoons they bring in alumni speakers. Sitting in a room listening to someone who's been through it and come out the other side is different from any group session with a counselor. It was one of the parts of the week I genuinely looked forward to.

The weekly family group, held online so family can join from wherever, is something I wasn't expecting. My family had been through a lot and being able to include them in the process, even from a distance, changed how I felt about what I was doing here. Recovery doesn't happen in a bubble and a program that actually acknowledges that is worth noting.

The staff truly cares about their patients and provided care that met my needs. The whole program exceeded my expectations and I can't thank everyone enough for the impact they made on my life and mental health. Deciding to seek treatment was not an easy thing for me but I am so glad I chose Footprints to Recovery. It wasn't all just sitting around doing therapy all day and we got the chance to do yoga, art and music therapy, and also go outdoors with Adventure Recovery. If you are considering treatment I highly encourage you to invest in yourself and give Footprints a call!

Footprints was an absolutely stellar facility to go to after completing inpatient addiction treatment. The staff were all very patient and understanding during my biggest ups and downs during treatment, and I never felt any judgement even at my lowest points.
Recovery is such a serious rock to carry but the groups and providers helped me collect the tools necessary to be able to tackle this journey on my own.
The nursing team was incredibly helpful in finding me medications that are actually helping my mental health and addiction cravings. I've had more success in the three months I got to share with Footprints than the years I've worked with my primary care and therapist.
Andrew with case management is hilarious and hugely helpful with resources and managing work and life alongside treatment.
Anika is an incredible therapist and I am sad to leave her care, but know she will continue to do amazing things for other clients.
If you are struggling with any substance abuse, I highly recommend seeking help with Footprints. They will absolutely get you back on your feet.

I did a 30 day program at HIR and can honestly say it was the best thing I could have ever done for myself. From the daily therapy, the meetings, the food provided by the chef and the outings, this program is made to work if you want it to. All the staff were beyond great and very attentive when needed. I couldn't have asked to be at a better rehab then HIR.

Having known the CEO for years, I can say firsthand that his commitment to helping others comes from a deeply authentic place. Having walked the path of recovery himself, he truly understands what it takes to heal and rebuild a life. That personal experience—combined with his love for the outdoors and nature-based healing—is woven into the core of Hawaii Island Recovery. He is a stand-up guy with a genuine heart for people, and anyone looking for a compassionate, top-tier environment for recovery will find it here.

To say that I’m simply "on the road to recovery" would be a cliché. My situation is deeply complex—there are no quick fixes or simple answers. But through it all, I have never experienced so much genuine honesty, so much authentic care, or such an unbelievably straightforward, understandable holistic approach to healing.
I would like to express my most profound appreciation to the entire team at Hawaii Island Recovery on the Big Island for everything you have done for me.
When I first reached out, I was at the absolute end of my rope, completely exhausted and feeling adrift. You met me with a level of dignity, respect, and deep human compassion that I was simply not used to receiving. That foundation alone has lit a fire in me that will propel me forward for a long time.
To Kevin in Admissions: When I first called, I felt completely lost at sea. Kevin Schroeder didn't dismiss me or brush me off—he came after me with a true sense of urgency, refusing to let me drift away. That initial lifeline made all the difference.
To Dr. Denzer: You are leading a crucial wave of authentic, holistic recovery. By viewing each person as a completely unique, individualized blend of chemistry, life experiences, spiritual depth, and complex medical needs, you put outdated "symptom treatment" to shame. You don't cover up the obvious parts shameful, for hidden, undesirable no—you look at the mechanism of the entire clock, every intricate gear, and bring harmony back to the whole person in a way that is clear and understandable. We need you in numbers unimaginable. Thank you, Dr.
To Chris, Program Manager: For the love of all that is dear, please never lose Chris. He is an absolute treasure of a man—the strong, silent type whose single focus is what he can do for others, never what he can gain for himself. They simply do not make people like him anymore. And many other beautiful people who decided to be a part of the solution. Thank you.
What Sets Hawaii Island Recovery Apart:
Before finding you, every place I called fell into one of two categories: snobbish, "luxury" programs whose high price tag bought a fancy menu rather than real healing, or overwhelming, assembly-line facilities where you are treated like a lamb led to the slaughter—just another number in a system.
Hawaii Island Recovery is in a league of its own.
The true value here comes from people who care so deeply they lose sleep over you. These are experts who will stay up late, building a dynamic, custom systems designed specifically for your complex needs. They don't give in to ego, status, or a "do you know who I am?" attitude. They will look you straight in the eye, tell you directly what the challenges and barriers are, and give you honest, unfiltered ttruth. They work as a team they solve each case with fresh perspective and always renewed urgency. That level of dedication is almost unheard of in healthcare today.
From Hopelessness to Dignity,
This center is not just a facility; it is a sacred space where you go to rediscover who you are and fix the parts of you that have malfunctioned.
It is where you stop feeling like a label, a statistic, or an addiction, and begin to feel like a true, complete human being again.
It is where you step out of the prison of your past and build a real, actionable plan for tomorrow, next week, next month, and next year.
It is where you transform from hopeless to dignified.
Words in the English language fall short of describing the transformation that took place inside me in just a few short days, but I promise you this: I am not going to stop until I am completely healthy.
Thank you so much to the extraordinary staff at Hawaii Island Recovery! Thank you for treating me as a human being.

As a family member, I cannot say enough wonderful things about Mountainside Treatment Center in Huntington. From the very beginning, the staff treated both our loved one and our family with compassion, respect, and genuine care during an incredibly difficult time.
The communication throughout the process was thoughtful and professional, and it was clear that everyone involved truly wanted the best possible outcome. Mountainside provides best-in-class treatment in a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment. Knowing our loved one was in such caring and capable hands gave us comfort and hope when we needed it most.
We are deeply grateful for the support, guidance, and dedication of the entire team. Highly recommend.

As a clinical social worker running a local group practice, I regularly collaborate and refer clients to Mountainside Treatment Center. Their staff has always been exceptional, especially Courtney Hulse and Dan Sexton, who go above and beyond in tailoring their treatment plans for each client and family. Mountainside serves as a tremendous resource, providing quality substance abuse treatment that is critically needed here on Long Island. We are enthusiastic about continuing to work with Mountainside to best serve our community and families. Thank you for all you do Mountainside. Highly recommend!

I’m extremely grateful for my experience at Recovery Centers of America. From the moment I arrived, I was treated with kindness, respect, and genuine care. The entire staff goes above and beyond to make you feel comfortable and supported throughout the process.
The nurses, therapists, case managers, and support staff were all amazing and truly cared about helping people get better. I also want to give a shoutout to the kitchen staff—the food was great, and they were always friendly and accommodating.
What really stood out to me was how welcoming and understanding everyone was. You never feel like just another patient. I met some great people and learned a lot about myself during my time there. I’m incredibly thankful for the staff and everything they did for me.
I would absolutely recommend Recovery Centers of America to anyone who is serious about making a change and getting their life back on track.

Rick - alcoholic & an addict.
RCA is one of the best in MD. Great people, great therapists, unbelievable setting and the food - kudos to the chef & his group.
The only downside is the feeling of being confined... with all of the scanning, the white band only gets you out 2 hours. There has to be a better way.
Thanks for letting me share.

I have been in the DARKEST place for so long. Symetria was my saving grace. My counselor Callie (my saving grace) showed me that I actually really do matter and gave me a sense of belonging for the FIRST time in my life! She truly cares and has helped me in so many ways that I can't thank her enough. If it weren't for her, I'm not sure where I'd be in life right now without her. Ms Callie, if you see this, thank you again. To all of the concerned mothers/fathers out there, I promise you, this is the best methadone clinic in the United States. Thank you for taking the time to read my comment, I promise I wouldn't steer you the wrong direction. <3 Please take into consideration coming to Symetria. I finally have hope.

Does American Family Cover Drug and Alcohol Rehab?
Yes, American Family provides coverage for drug and alcohol rehab at varying levels. Plans typically cover at least part of the cost for the following:
Screening
Extended stays at rehab facilities
Inpatient therapy
Detoxification
Outpatient sessions
Support group attendance
Medication-Assisted Treatment: Does American Family Cover Suboxone & Methadone?
Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) is another common form of substance use treatment that may be covered by American Family plans. MAT uses FDA-approved medications, combined with behavioral therapies, to treat addiction. Suboxone and methadone are commonly used for MAT, so they may be covered as part of your treatment. However, copays may apply, and the cost varies based on your plan.
American Family Mental Health & Behavioral Health Coverage
Federal law requires insurance companies to provide mental and behavioral health coverage equal to or better than their medical coverage. For example, if a copay for a surgical office visit is $20, American Family can’t charge more than a $20 copay for a mental health professional visit. However, coverage varies based on the level of the plan and the type of treatment.
Typical behavioral health services covered by insurance include:
Counseling
Inpatient mental health care
Intensive outpatient mental health programs
Medication treatment for behavioral health disorders
