Regence Insurance is a subsidiary of the nonprofit healthcare organization Cambia Health Solutions and a member of the Blue Cross Blue Shield network of insurance companies.
Regence offers individual and family plans through employers and state Insurance Marketplaces in in four northwestern states – Idaho, Washington, Oregon, and Utah. They also have Medicare plan options. Regence members can access wellness resources for weight loss and fitness and rewards for meeting their wellness goals.
In 2020, Regence Insurance in Oregon started a new initiative that made them the first insurance company in the nation to directly address medication safety through data sharing. They partnered with two health providers–MultiCare and Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU)–to verify patient medication history upon discharge from the hospital. This collaboration streamlined the process of medication information review and ensured greater patient safety.
Does Regence Insurance Cover Addiction Treatment?
In compliance with the 2010 Affordable Care Act (ACA) most Regence Insurance plans provide coverage for rehab. The ACA requires most insurance plans to cover 10 essential health benefits which include substance use and mental health treatment.
However there are exceptions to the law and individual plans will have different requirements and limits for the coverage they offer. That’s why it’s important to verify your insurance details before you begin treatment.
It’s also a good idea to work with your doctor to create a treatment plan which will help the insurance company determine what care is medically necessary for your needs.

Great experience working through the telehealth program. Both counselors were awesome and I really felt connected to the group and they created a very safe environment.
I’m sharing my experience about someone close to me who completed Tree House Recovery’s five-month program in Costa Mesa through the partial hospitalization track.
From the start, Adam and Matt showed up with care, heart, and a steady light. My experience with the team was a blessing. The way they came together to support my friend—even at the very beginning—held nothing short of compassion and love. It was truly something special.
Tree House is a brotherhood. It goes deep and focuses on giving a real experience - not a curated, perfect, or cookie-cutter one. It gives the people who go through it the strength to stand up and get through real life when they leave. It highlights your strength, gives you the structure to build it into who you are, and keeps reminding you of it. They provide tools, support, and, beyond that, an environment where learning happens, beliefs are tested and strengthened, and new identities are allowed take root.
It's physiology and psychology, forged together.
And if you’re asking the question, “Does it last?”; In my experience, it grows. It takes the reins and leads. Even as someone standing on the sidelines, I haven’t just learned from this journey—I’ve been inspired by the person who walked it. This program isn’t a finish line; it’s a whole new game, a wider foundation—something that keeps inviting you to become more of who you are. And it is literally a life-saver.
I’m grateful for Tree House Recovery—and especially for Adam and Matt—for showing up and lighting the way. If you’re ready to believe that change is worth it, take the first step. They’ll have your back for the rest.

Treehouse Recovery and the staff members are all really great people that care about your sobriety as much as they care about their own and take the role of guiding you into the right direction very seriously. Being apart of this program as changed my life for the better and I found not only a sense of happiness I have never felt before but I also found a sense of purpose and a strong brotherhood within this community of guys I went through this experience with. My outlook on life has completely changed for the better and I open my eyes in the morning thanking God I have another day to be the best person I could be. I am able to face challenges head on and be able to tackle them down without the thought of escaping reality and picking up that bottle. This experience I went through with the people I could now call lifelong friends with has been one of the best chapters of my journey I've been through so far. The good, the bad, the ugly; it was all worth wild. Thank you Justin, Vechi, Matt and everyone involved that saved my life! This book isn’t over yet. Let’s see where this new version of myself takes me.

I highly recommend the TREEHOUSE RECOVERY Program in Costa Mesa. Their comprehensive approach to drug addiction treatment is commendable. The program addresses the mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual components of your loved one, thereby focusing on the underlying causes of the addiction, rather than solely on ending the substance use. I believe this approach significantly reduces the risk of relapse. The male-only environment is a key factor in fostering focus and promoting successful outcomes.
My son successfully completed the five-month program and graduated. We are thrilled with the results! His physical and spiritual well-being have been significantly restored. Prior to his enrollment at Treehouse of Costa Mesa, I feared that I would lose him forever. He was at “the bottom” and was ready.
The program Is demanding and emphasizes accountability.
The parents, spouses, or family members have an optional video group meeting with other family members every week that helps immensely.
My son is 9+ months clean, and counting. He has a job and is on his feet again. He says that he’s a better man than he has ever been. I honestly don’t believe a different drug treatment program would have been as successful as the Treehouse Recovery Program for addiction.
I am truly grateful for Springhill Recovery. Immediately I was made to feel at ease, safe & secure. I quickly realized that I was in competent, caring hands with all of the staff that I met.
I learned so much about myself here! I can see where I need to work on a few things and I now have to tools to do it thanks to the amazing groups here.
I leave here confident in my sobriety & recovery! I will seek connections with others in recovery because I’ve learned that absolutely nobody can do this alone.
Thank you Springhill Recovery for giving me a chance at life again!

I highly recommend this place!!! I came in not knowing who I was anymore and not knowing if I would ever be happy, but after a couple weeks at the program I’m happy to say that I am truly happy with myself! The team here is amazing and really cares for the clients and wanting to see them succeed. If you are considering this place please reach out they will help you like they helped me:)
Dom was a GODSEND - when it came to my friends experience here, if it wasn’t for his incredible understanding and knowledge with her insurance ( I had hung up the phone so many times with them- I was hopeless in getting her treatment) he saved the day. Thankful for his help. Without him my friend would have given up and not wanted to get help, he made it so seamless. Thank you Dom and the incredible bayside team!!

Bayside Marin is an excellent treatment center.
At first, I didn't want to go here, mainly because of negative reviews and hearsay from an acquaintance, and corporate ownership.
But I quickly changed my mind. I came here devestated by a very traumatic year of my life, in as much of a mental health crisis as I was in a substance one. Throughout the length of my stay, I was treated with understanding, patience and compassion.
The bulk of their program is cookie cutter evidence based, but high quality.
The employees at Bayside really care about their work, and their clients, and because of this it didn't have a corporate feel, even though they're owned by Acadia.
What made this stay extra special for me was the therapy and one on one conversations I had with staff. I had the honor and privilege of working with the best therapist I've ever seen. When there's a true match with therapy it can be magical, spiritual. I have transformed into a better version of myself because of the one on one work with my therapist, whose intelligence, wit, patience, and compassion helped me to rise above and shine, despite facing some extremely challenging triggers in residential this time. When you can't fully care about yourself, sometimes you can borrow someone else's faith in you until you're able to care about yourself a little more. By the end of my stay, I felt more confident and centered than I had in a long time.
I also wanted to say, the tech supervisor helped guide me psychologically and spiritually as I faced various challenges at Bayside, and helped revive my interest in spirituality, meditation and awakening.
I had the best spiritual and psychological support I could have asked for, which I thought would be impossible after being at Olympia House in 2022. (Both are good rehabs with their unique strengths and weaknesses. I learned a lot at both, but they're not directly comparable, OH is a little more unique in terms of approach and programming. Bayside was extra meaningful because of the particular therapist I worked with, the behavioral technician supervisor I mentioned and the particular clients I bonded with.
They actually listen to client feedback and I watched them make numerous improvements over the three months I was there.
With that said, there is room for further improvement. Clients are shuffled over to the main campus from detox with very little explanation of where to go and when, which leaves freshly detoxed clients confused, angry, and feeling disrespected. I've been told they're working on fixing this problem.
Scheduling glitches do happen, but that's true of any medium or large rehab. They do their best. And also, sometimes communication can be a little complicated between departments. No place is perfect.
Gorgeous campus. Food was great. I was told this was a rehab for rich people who valued aesthetics over content, but that's not what I found here. They have some incredible talent working for them and client socioeconomic backgrounds are mixed.
Last. I would encourage people, strongly, to ask to change their therapist if the initial assignment isn't a match. I did, and it made all the difference in my stay.

This facility saved my life in 2017! They treated me as an individual while helping me process my trauma and grief. I was able to create new habits, build self esteem and stop
self medicating through life. My children & I are forever grateful to Bayside for showing me a new way to live!
I was here for a short stay I regret leaving so soon the owners are awesome and i remember the kind staff and great FOOD.

I recently completed a stay at Free By The Sea in Ocean Park, WA, and I can honestly say it was a truly transformative experience. When I first arrived, I felt powerless and hopelessly caught in my addictions—tobacco, marijuana, caffeine, and even my phone. I was lost, broken, and spent countless hours trapped in my own thoughts, unsure of what to do next.
From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed not only by the caring staff but also by the residents. The sense of community here is more than I could have ever hoped for. Each day, I had meaningful conversations with others, gaining perspective and insights from stories shared openly and honestly. Judgments are left at the door because everyone here understands what it’s like to be vulnerable. We’re all in this together, regardless of our backgrounds or struggles.
One important lesson I learned during my time here is that progress, not perfection, is what truly matters. I’ve come to understand what it means to walk down the road of substance use—how sometimes you can find yourself so far gone that turning back feels impossible. During my time here, I had an epiphany about the dangers of THC and other substances, realizing how they can impact your health and well-being in ways I never fully understood before. This experience has given me a new perspective on the importance of sobriety and self-care. Also, meeting others who shared similar traumas and experiences helped me realize that healing is possible through connection and support.
The owners and staff have cultivated an environment where authenticity and connection thrive—an environment that encourages you to be yourself and embrace the healing power of nature and community. Everyone, from the cleaning staff to the medical team, to the front office and administrators, are kind, helpful, and nonjudgmental.
My biggest advice to anyone considering this recovery center is to persist. Persist in your recovery, in your sobriety, and in yourself. You truly deserve a fresh start and the chance to breathe again. If you're looking for a safe, supportive place to begin your journey, I wholeheartedly recommend Free By The Sea.
Lakeside Milam Inpatient in Kirkland, WA has given me a second chance at rebuilding my life and laying a foundation for sustainable recovery. After a 10-year stretch of sobriety, I relapsed—quickly spiraling into a dark, painful place that lasted longer than I ever imagined. When I reached out for help again, LMRC admitted me within just a few hours and welcomed me straight into detox.
During detox, patients are given the option to rest and regain strength or to begin joining group processing, lectures, and meals as soon as they are stable. Once detox is complete, the structure kicks in—every scheduled activity is required and punctuality is expected. That accountability, though challenging, sets the tone for living life with purpose and responsibility again.
What makes LMRC stand out is the depth and passion of its programming. The lectures are engaging and evidence-based, providing proven strategies for confronting addiction and personal struggles. Patients and families are educated on brain function, the science of addiction, communication tools, and practical steps for recovery. Family workshops and lectures reinforce the idea that healing is a shared journey.
The staff are another reason this place works. Many openly share their own recovery stories, modeling service and honesty—the cornerstones of active recovery. Compassion and accountability go hand in hand here; the team genuinely cares while also calling patients out when needed. The presence of doctors, ARNPs, psychologists, and nurses every day adds reassurance and professional oversight.
The daily life at LMRC also helps patients reset. Structured routines, balanced meals (with a salad bar, soups, snacks, and coffee in the mornings), designated tech time, movies on weekends, and free time for assignments or connection with peers all create a balanced environment. It’s structured without being suffocating.
Recovery is hard. It’s painful, emotional, and messy. But LMRC makes the path a little more manageable. They emphasize the fellowship of AA, CA, NA, and HA by offering in-house meetings with volunteers and trips to outside meetings several times a week. These opportunities remind us that addicts best help addicts, and alcoholics best help alcoholics.
Every patient receives an individualized Tx plan, with assignments and goals tailored to their needs, and the support remains consistent through the ups and downs. More than just a program, LMRC fosters willingness over denial, growth over shame, and community over isolation.
For anyone serious about breaking free from addiction, LMRC Inpatient in Kirkland is more than a treatment center—it’s a place where recovery begins or restarts, and can truly take root.

Hannah was my favorite staff member, she created such a safe space for me to unwind. I was able to speak freely without hesitation of judgment from her. She alone cultivated a 5 star experience from me. 3 months sober going strong and a huge part of my success is due to her care and love that was shown to me.
I was in their 2 week Relapse Prevention Program in 2003. I have been clean ever since! Facility was scenic and serene, staff was beyond amazing. Their overall approach offered total holistic focus treating the INDiVIDUAL. Diversity in spiritual accommodations including Native American. When my two week program was complete I wanted to stay longer simply because the entire experience was so profoundly healing....I WANTED more, rather than NEEDED more.

Absolutely Loved my stay at Olalla! Great meals everyday 🙌🏼 coffee too(if ya get up early enough). The staff I had during my experience were some of the best counselors & people you’ll meet! Counselors will definitely call you on your BULLSHIT & keep you accountable(Can’t bullshit a bullshitter, they say). So good luck trying to skate by or just faking it to make it. I got down to some good core roots I never thought of before, got a lot of “Dark Things” out in my time here too. Also not too bad of classes either! With a slightly more stoic approach one could say maybe, lots of good new info! Also, when you get towards the end of your stay, if you’re feeling not quite ready to leave, you can ask for extension(s) too. 🙌🏼
This place is really about their patients, as groups tend to be no bigger than 6-12 people, so, plenty of questions to be asked, searched for, & answered!!! I was in the Falcon Group, our group never got bigger than 6-7 people. And it’s males with males & females do there daily groups with just females, allowing for a little more comfort/support when sharing personal matters. Absolutely love Olalla & would recommend this inpatient facility to ANYONE struggling with addiction!!

Frequently Asked Questions
What Are Regence Insurance Plans?
Regence offers both individual and family plans and Medicare plans.
Individual and family plans from Regence are available on the state Insurance Marketplaces or you may have coverage through your employer. There are two primary types of health coverage.
Preferred provider plans (PPOs) offer the most flexibility but also have the highest monthly premiums. You are able to see specialists such as psychiatrists and addiction counselors without a referral and you can get some coverage for out of network providers. However if you use a provider not in the network you will pay significantly more when it comes to deductibles and copayments. You may also need preauthorization before you begin treatment.
Health maintenance organizations (HMOs) have lower monthly plan premiums. With an HMO you have to get care within the provider network. You also need to get a referral to see a specialist and you may need preauthorization before you start rehab.
Regence Insurance also offers Medicare plans. If you have Original Medicare you can get a Part D prescription plan or Medicare supplement plan through Regence. You can also choose a Medicare Advantage (or “Medicare Part C”) PPO plan. Medicare Advantage plans provide the same services as Medicare but they usually include extra benefits as well such as prescription drug coverage. However you’ll need to use the provider network for your care or pay more for out of network coverage.
What Inpatient Addiction Treatment Does Regence Insurance Cover?
Regence Insurance covers medically necessary care so you should have a treatment plan from your doctor before you seek care from a facility. Regence Insurance may cover your inpatient care if your provider decides it is medically necessary.
Inpatient addiction treatment can include medical detox which typically takes about a week. During that time, you will go through the detox process under medical supervision while your body gets rid of the drugs and alcohol in your system. This can come with withdrawal symptoms which can be treated in an inpatient setting.
Inpatient or residential care typically lasts at least 30 days but may last up to 90. The length of time varies based on your individual needs. In these settings you have more professional support from people who know how to help you during recovery. You also get peer support from others going through a similar journey. Inpatient treatment for addiction can increase the likelihood of long term recovery and may even provide further support after your initial treatment.
What Outpatient Addiction Treatment Does Regence Insurance Offer?
Outpatient programs–partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), and regular outpatient (OP) programs–are programs that may be available as part of Regence Insurance’s substance use and mental health coverage.
Partial hospitalization programs allow you to attend treatment during the day; you do not spend the night at a facility. These day programs typically involve sessions lasting 4 to 8 hours a day three to four days a week. Most run for 30 to 90 days.
Intensive outpatient programs often involve 9 to 20 hours of treatment per week and these hours are spread over 3 to 5 days. Typically 90 days of treatment are recommended.
In general outpatient programs you may have sessions at a clinic or rehab facility once a week. During sessions you’ll receive group counseling and education on addiction and relapse prevention. You may also be able to get individual sessions.
Does Regence Insurance Cover Methadone & Suboxone (MAT)?
Medication assisted treatment (MAT) can help with medical detox and continued treatment of substance use disorder. Methadone and suboxone are both long acting opioids that block many of the effects of short acting opioids like heroin and oxycodone.
Both medications make the detox period more comfortable and reduce withdrawal symptoms. They can also help you manage cravings during treatment so you can lay a solid foundation for recovery.
People who go through MAT may have a higher likelihood of long term recovery. However it’s essential to understand the risks of these medications and you should talk with your doctor to decide if this is the right treatment option for you.
Does Regence Insurance Cover Other Mental Healthcare?
Due to the ACA most Regence Insurance plans cover mental healthcare. However there are exceptions, so you should check your coverage before contacting treatment centers.
Often substance use disorders co occur with other mental health disorders. You may be able to use your coverage to get integrated care that addresses both of these conditions. By treating co occurring disorders along with your substance use you can give yourself a higher chance of recovery.
Can I Travel Out of State for Treatment with Regence Insurance?
Your Regence Insurance plan will determine your coverage when seeing an out of state provider. The company offers both PPO and HMO plans and many include the BlueCard program. The BlueCard program may allow you to get coverage if you need out of state care but the amount of coverage will vary.
HMO plans do not cover out of network care so it’s very unlikely that you can use them outside your state.
With a PPO plan you have more options. You generally have coverage for out of network providers but you will pay far more out of pocket than you would with an in network provider. While you have more options with a PPO plan, staying in network maximizes your insurance coverage.
How to Verify Coverage with Regence Insurance
You can verify your Regence Insurance coverage by contacting customer service at 1 (888) 675-6570. You can also log into your online insurance account or ask the treatment center you want to use if they accept your plan.
Regence Insurance has a wide variety of plans so you must provide the exact plan name when asking about your coverage. That way you ensure you get accurate information and can proceed with your treatment as soon as possible.
Calls to any general helpline will be answered or returned by a paid advertiser.
