Health Alliance is a health insurance provider with headquarters in Illinois. They offer a range of plans for individuals and families along with employers and Medicare beneficiaries. The company was started in 1980 and prides itself on having developed an extensive network of healthcare providers that emphasizes preventive care and chronic disease management.
There is a strong focus on providing high quality affordable healthcare coverage across various plan types including Medicare Advantage plans. Plans can be Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs) or Preferred Provider Organizations (PPOs). The mission is to reduce healthcare costs through innovative solutions and customer focused services.
Does Health Alliance Cover Addiction Rehab?
Health Alliance offers various insurance plans. Those that are offered in the Insurance Marketplace and Medicare Advantage plans are required to provide treatment for mental health conditions and substance use disorders. This requirement is based on the Affordable Care Act.
However there are exceptions to this rule. Some employer plans are not required to offer addiction treatment. However if treatment is offered it must have the same benefits and limitations as other medical or surgical care benefits in the plan.
Since coverage amounts and requirements to receive benefits vary it’s important to verify your insurance coverage before starting treatment. When you verify insurance coverage you will learn how much is left on your deductible for the year and what your co-payment requirements are. You can also find out and whether the treatment center is in or out of your insurance plan network.
I had never been to rehab, so I didn't know what to expect. But this place blew me away!! The staff are all very nice, and truly care about each and every person in the program. The house is beautiful. The food is delicious.. I actually gained about 10 lbs in 5 days. Lol. I can't say enough great things about this place.

When we started, I was hesitant about making changes, even though I knew I needed help. My goals were to keep my relationship strong, revive my passion for my business, and address my mental health issues. I'm forever thankful! My experience at Transitions was a positive one. The staff was helpful and courteous. The techs really make the difference Abraham the Housing Director was great & should be applauded for the techs he hired especially Will, Talia, Rob, Austin, Art and Janet. I would highly recommend giving this place a try. The new Clinical Director, John was amazing therapist to me while I was there together with Nitza. My favorite group leader was hands down Dr. K. & Kitty. Thank you Transitions Family for all you’ve done for me. God Bless.

SunCloud is a great resource for adolescents and adults struggling with mental health issues, with particular expertise in treating multiple diagnoses. SunCloud provides personalized and individualized care, treating the whole person, not just a part of them. They have a highly trained and experienced medical team lead by one of the country's leading doctors, Kim Dennis. I have had personal experience with their Community Liaison, Donna Bartlett, through my work with middle and high schools. Donna is wealth of information and an amazing support system for community partners.

I didn’t them a five because they don’t offer virtual therapy options. Other than that, they offer great care and really helped me in my recovery. The staff was super supportive and used evidence based methods, which helped with the combo of addiction and mental health stuff I’ve been dealing with. Their women’s groups felt safe and afirming, which made a huge difference for me. I’m grateful for the help I got

At first I was nervous and scared. I felt rehab was like a hospital ward. Once I arrived from the intake coordinator Janet was so caring, helpful and compassionate. Gregg who drove us to center and Dr Calloway office eased my nerves. Both had a lot of good conversations. Once I got to the center. I was welcomed by my sober mate which I still keep in contact and others. My counselor Jake was amazing very informative, compassionate. All of the counselors including Cdtechs as well. I literally cried when I left I felt it was my second home. Chef Shilpa always made amazing meals that I ever had. I felt very spoiled. My time there was very structured, educational and informative. Provided the tools for me to stay on my sobriety journey. There is so much more I could express about my experience. All I can say I was very blessed, grateful for New Recovery 🙏🏼💖🙏🏼

I cannot thank this recovery program enough for the impact it's had on my life. It has been my rock, my greatest source of support, and the foundation of my journey to healing and growth. The program provided me with structure when I needed it most, guiding me step by step toward a brighter future.
Through its compassionate and empowering approach, I found the confidence I thought I'd lost. It showed me how to rebuild myself from within and, most importantly, how to love myself again. This program is more than just a resource; it's a life-changing experience that has helped me rediscover my strength and worth.
To anyone considering this program—it's a gift you can give yourself, one that has the power to transform your life, just as it did mine.
I really enjoyed my time here. I felt like my case manager Shauna really truly and helped me improve myself. I would highly recommend milam if you are trying to get sober.

Attending Lakeside has been one of the best decisions of my life. Their inpatient facility in Kirkland has a very welcoming atmosphere, the grounds are wooded and beautiful you get lots of free time to enjoy yourself mixed in with some very informative lectures and groups.
I spent some time at the outpatient facility and I would again suggest going there for inpatient, outpatient, or continuing care. I had a wonderful case worker for most of my time there who helped me navigate some challenging life experiences, and the groups I had there were invaluable to my recovery.
They are a 12 step focused treatment facility, but they also promote exploration of other programs and won't alienate you if you don't vibe with AA as your chosen method of recovery.
Thank you Lakeside Milam!
I had the opportunity to work at skywood several years ago. It was a great experience that taught me many working lessons that stick with me today. Also a very beautiful location.

I was so impressed with Skywood in so many ways. My husband went through Skywood and not only has it given him his life back, but they were so supportive all along the way and even after discharge.
Although we had some challenges with our insurance, Skywood was so helpful in walking us through the ups and downs with our insurance company and making sure my husband got the care he needed. Thanks Skywood!

Skywood saved my life. The treatment is fantastic if you give it a chance. The staff is kind and caring and they really set you up for success after you leave. I just celebrated 6 years of sobriety and truly don’t think I would have gotten to this point without the tools and knowledge gained from Skywood.
I've personally been detoxed at Hooper at least a dozen times, once even overdosing in their lobby & waking up in the ER. In sobriety, I've gone in with H&I to talk to the patients that want to hear it. It's not forced or mandatory, but strongly suggested. Hell, I even remember getting thrown into the old Hooper drunk tank after being a passenger in a DUI car accident. I should've played injured instead of trying to leave the scene. Anyway reading through the negative & single star comments, it's very clear for me to see the repeating theme & same old BS excuses people love to try riding. It's very apparent to me that each "concerned loved one" or "missing son/daughter/Mom"... wasn't ready to hold themselves accountable for the decisions & consequences of their actions. Even back when they only had a payphone & a roll of quarters made you the man inside. It's long since been changed to free 24/7 phone access for outgoing calls. With or without the confirmation HIPPA protection LAW... the front desk employees have NO CHOICE but to adhere by & follow! They'll take a kite note & fly it where it needs to be. If your loved one hasn't AMA'd themselves, which they can do ANYTIME since only adults can be there & it's not a jail. I've left at 3am throwing a damn fit thinking my girlfriend on the female side had left cuz they wouldn't tell me if she was still there! She was & I ended up the dumbass in relapse, alone. NOTHING on the recovery path at all will EVER succeed without that first required desire & commitment from within. To then accept a plethora of positive suggestions & encouragement that'll only fall on deaf ears unless YOU LISTEN for it! Shit even right now in my full addiction, a criminally corrupt career criddler... I can see the writing on these comment walls! Hoopers without a doubt... Saved my life more than once. Maybe they'll do it again ... If I decide to let them help me help myself!
Our options are few & the end game for everyone is the same. Why speed up reaching death & spending the gifted time of life in misery. Forcing loved ones to be miserable. Let go of your guilt, blaming yourself is obviously a step towards acceptance. Quit punishing yourself though, because your punishing everyone else that loves you too! You are the most important person in your life & ain't nothing selfish about living like it!
Good Luck🍀😘

went there October 4 2021. Been alcohol and drug free since. Not my first rodeo but I fell the way I was cared for this time made a difference. Want to work there.

I’m writing this review as it has been 6 months and 1 day since a small group of family and indirect supporters led me to Enterhealth after months of isolating with Tito’s was followed by years of binge drinking and drinking throughout the day, to get through the day.
Everyone’s journey in sobriety is different and people take away different things from recovery. This is my 2nd time to go to treatment and it has been completely different than my 1st time. I feel like Enterhealth not only “got me sober”, but they helped me battle this by addressing my physical health, my strengths and weaknesses as well as my mental health. I also feel like I was given the freedom to be in charge of my own recovery plan. Physical and mental health were important to me and they allowed me to dive into that. I’m also not religious so I was much more receptive to their curriculum on the disease instead of just praying it into remission with AA. (Although they do offer AA based groups).
Other things such as the community, the food, the privacy of your own cabin, the routine and the amenities are all major perks that help you focus on your treatment.
I will say, this place is a major investment. I would be wary if your loved one is resistant to change. I feel like Enterhealth is a huge gift. I would recommend this place to anyone who is ready to embrace a better life and is ready to work for it. 💜

My experience exceeded my expectations in every way. The staff and professional therapists treated me with respect, warmth and kindness. Laura Auldridge was especially instrumental in my healing with her knowledge, compassion and humanity. I firmly believe any individual in their care that “puts in the work” will be justly rewarded in their experience. I would highly recommend Enterhealth Ranch.

I could not recommend Enterhealth Ranch more. The entire staff were professional and courteous. They go above and beyond to help you. You can tell they genuinely care about your sobriety. Autumn, in particular, showed compassion as she navigated me throughout my stay. Always answering my questions or concerns promptly. Every therapist I met was phenomenal. The property is beautiful and peaceful. You have your own room and can have cellphone- which is a plus. The food was great and nutritious. Kitchen staff were lovely. Everyone knows your name and asks how you are. Attend all the classes and get to know the other clients. I appreciated and learned so much from them. Enterhealth’s unique, challenging curriculum taught me a lot about the disease of addiction and my part in it. How to challenge my thoughts and beliefs. I look forward to attending monthly Alumni events. I’m also continuing my aftercare with their IOP program in Dallas. Could not thank Enterhealth enough for my jumpstart on this sobriety journey.

Frequently Asked Questions
What Are Health Alliance Plans?
The Health Alliance Insurance Marketplace plans are designed for individuals and families who purchase their insurance independently of their employers. Your coverage options offer different levels of premiums and out of pocket costs. This helps the plans fit a variety of budgets. Health Alliance emphasizes preventive care and gives you access to a broad network of healthcare providers.
Medicare beneficiaries can purchase Medicare Advantage plans that combine hospital and medical benefits in one plan. Some Advantage plans add drug coverage and benefits like vision and dental coverage along with hearing services.
Health Alliance also provides employer sponsored plans that are tailored to businesses of various sizes. This allows the employer to customize options that help them balance costs and coverage. In selected areas in the U.S. Health Alliance also offers standalone dental and vision plans. This ensures that members have access to comprehensive care that supports their overall well being.
What Perks Are Available With Health Alliance Plans?
Health Alliance provides insurance plans in Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Ohio, and Washington State. You have access to perks and programs in each state that help you meet your health goals. Many of these are extra perks that may not be offered by other health insurance programs.
For example, they have a 24/7 nurse advice line where you can call and ask questions of registered nurses. This may help reduce the need to access emergency or urgent care. There are over 11,000 fitness centers nationwide that participate with Health Alliance and offer members a membership for $28 a month.
When you have long term conditions like asthma or high blood pressure or diabetes you have access to a disease management program that can provide resources to help you take control of your health. Being overweight or obese is a significant risk factor for chronic diseases. Health Alliance also provides you with a fitness allowance so you can receive up to $20 a month for the cost of a fitness class or membership at a participating center.
In addition to the care you receive from your primary care physician Health Alliance offers the Hally Healthcast which is a podcast of various health and wellness topics and health coaching. You can get help with nutrition and weight loss and staying active. You get support to quit smoking and a Telehealth benefit so you can connect with a specialist or primary care provider over the phone. If you enjoy virtual care you may also enjoy virtual workouts that are provided free online.
What Inpatient Addiction Treatment Does Health Alliance Cover?
Most Health Alliance plans cover inpatient addiction treatment that must meet the criteria for medically necessary care. This means that to receive coverage benefits your treatment must be essential for your health. This is often determined using a detailed treatment plan from your physician or a specialist.
To ensure you get the appropriate care the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) assessment is often used. This assessment evaluates the severity of your addiction and guides the appropriate level of care. Key criteria must be met to receive residential care including your inability to stay sober outside of a structured environment.
Inpatient addiction treatment typically begins with medical detoxification. During this program you are closely monitored to protect your safety as you withdraw from substances under medical supervision. This may include using FDA cleared prescription medications to reduce the effects of withdrawal.
Medical detox is typically followed by residential care where you receive intensive therapy and counseling along with support in a highly structured and supportive environment. The structured setting minimizes external triggers and allows you to focus on your recovery. Inpatient care provides a comprehensive approach to address the physical and psychological aspects of addiction. You often have access to a multidisciplinary team of healthcare providers who work together to create a structured and customized treatment plan that is aimed at your long term recovery.
What Outpatient Rehab Does Health Alliance Cover?
Health Alliance offers a variety of levels of outpatient care for addiction treatment. These include Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) along with general outpatient treatment. Your coverage will be based on medically necessary care and this is determined by a treatment plan from your healthcare provider.
A PHP provides a high level of structured and intensive outpatient addiction treatment. It’s similar to what you would get as an inpatient but you’re able to return home at night. You typically receive multiple hours of therapy each day that focuses on skill building and intensive counseling along with medical monitoring. PHPs are ideal for people who need substantial support but have a stable living environment.
An IOP offers more flexibility and requires fewer hours each week than a PHP and still allows you to live at home in the evening. Your program may involve group and individual and family counseling alongside educational sessions or vocational counseling. This level of care benefits you when you need structured support but have a stable home environment and must fulfill responsibilities at home and work or school.
General outpatient treatment is the least intensive type of addiction treatment. You receive regular therapy sessions weekly or bi weekly and may participate in community support groups. The option may be used as a step down from PHP or IOP when you have less severe addiction issues. Finally your aftercare program offers ongoing therapy and support groups as well as relapse prevention strategies to support your long term recovery.
Does Health Alliance Cover Methadone & Suboxone (MAT)?
Health Alliance covers Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) for opioid and alcohol disorders in many of their insurance plans. MAT combines FDA cleared prescription drugs with counseling and behavioral therapy to treat substance use disorders. These medications may include methadone and buprenorphine along with naltrexone and Suboxone.
Methadone and buprenorphine are opioid agonists that help reduce the symptoms of withdrawal and may help reduce cravings in ongoing treatment. They are typically used with opioid use disorder. Naltrexone can be used for opioid use disorder and alcohol use disorder. Suboxone is a combination drug including buprenorphine and Naltrexone.
MAT can be used during medical detoxification in the early stages of substance use disorder treatment and as an ongoing treatment modality to reduce cravings and the risk of relapse. Medication assisted treatment is a crucial component in a comprehensive approach to treating substance use disorders.
Does Health Alliance Cover Other Mental Healthcare?
Receiving necessary mental health care with or without a substance use disorder challenge is an essential component of your overall well being. Mental health care can include individual and group counseling and crisis support during a mental health crisis. This type of support can help you regain stability to make informed decisions.
Substance use disorders commonly have co occurring mental health conditions. This requires integrated care that treats both conditions simultaneously to achieve successful long term recovery. Most plans cover mental health conditions to meet the Affordable Care Act requirements. However there are exceptions to the rule. To receive your maximum insurance benefits and ensure that your mental health care is coverage covered you’ll want to verify your coverage benefits and limitations with the insurance company or the treatment center.
Does Addiction Treatment Need to Be In Network?
To determine if your health insurance policy through Health Alliance covers out of network care you must verify your insurance details. Usually HMOs do not offer coverage for out of network care while PPOs may.
Even if the insurance policy covers out of network care your out of pocket costs are likely to be higher. These costs can include deductibles and co payments. You can maximize your insurance coverage by reviewing your plan carefully and making an informed decision about receiving care if you choose an out of network treatment center.
If you can’t find an in network provider you might consider treatment centers that offer financial help in the form of payment plans and sliding scale fees.
How to Verify Coverage With Health Alliance
There are several ways to verify your insurance coverage with Health Alliance. Your insurance provider has a customer service or member services line where you can get your questions answered about the coverage benefits and limitations of your policy. Health Alliance also has a website where you can sign into your account and get coverage details and find in network providers.
Most treatment centers will also help verify your insurance and let you know if they accept your insurance policy. Make sure you give them the exact plan name and any important member or group numbers because Health Alliance has a wide variety of plans and not all plans offer the same coverage.
Calls to any general helpline will be answered or returned by a paid advertiser.
By calling the helpline you agree to the terms of use. We do not receive any commission or fee that is dependent upon which treatment provider a caller chooses. There is no obligation to enter treatment.
