G4 Pilot 1 month ago As a private practice physician with three board certifications working in the fields of psychiatry and addiction medicine, I was always vigilant about getting to know the treatment centers in my community. I took unpaid time off to visit facilities in person, and meet with the owners, medical staff, and counselors. I was so disheartened by the status quo, which seemed to be nothing more than overly priced housing with a few AA meetings thrown in, and nefarious billing practices were commonplace at the time. A colleague brought me to Tree House Recovery, telling me it was different. Again I walked into a room of men, waiting for the pitch I’d heard dozens of times. It never came. In that room I found curiosity, knowledge, conviction, community. Vechi gave his pitch, but it was for an entirely different game. I spoke at length with the founder Justin about the neurochemistry of addiction, and the non-medication approaches to healing brains and bodies ravaged by impulsive and compulsive addictive behaviors. He got it. He preached it. I started sending patients. My patients disappeared. I’d call Tree House concerned about relapse and be told, “X is doing great! He’s still sober. He doesn’t need you anymore.” Music to my ears. Over my years of practice I “lost” many patients to THR. Vechi became my go-to phone call and was always available for my referrals. Upon arrival to the facility, it was nothing but kindness, respect, and genuine care for me and my journey while in their care. I made arrangements to extend my stay with them to 90 days simply because i felt like i was growing and gaining so much from them and their program. The staff goes above and beyond for each and every client. Although I extended my stay to 90 days, I had to leave at just over 60 days due to a call that had come for me to tell me that my husband had passed away. I owe my life and my sobriety to the SCC Treatment center and their entire team. I made it through my husband’s passing and months after still sober! I’ve been to 2 other treatment centers that were very “high end” and they didn’t compare to NDFW! Both the residential and outpatient programs are women-centered and trauma-informed. The therapists and group leaders are compassionate and empowering and the campus is peaceful and cozy. In my opinion self care in recovery requires inclusivity of our physical health and well being. During admissions it was promised that it would be available once on site. This was not the case after arrival. However, I trusted the direction of my Case Manager Nicole who was an outstanding person and able to take care of all my needs while in treatment she was AMAZING! In addition, my Therapist Melissa was wonderful to work with. Melissa's ability to connect with me and recommend excellent coping skills helped me in ways I didn't think were possible. It took openness and willingness to allow those processes to take effect. I had a really good stay at treatment even though my expectations fell short of what I thought would be included after my arrival here. I look forward to the future ahead now that I'm discharging. The knowledge, compassion, creativity, and diversity of the staff is incredible. They don't treat you like Iike a job and task to finish so they can go home, they treat you like a person. The therapy and counseling here is not just staying clean and sober ots added dive into the science, medical, psychology behind substance abuse and addiction and understanding how it's all encompassing . They don't just give you the information but they teach you what to do with it. It's also a deep dive into your own mind and life to show yourself YOU and help you understand your life mind and emotions so you can understand yourself. They then teach you what to do with your new understanding and how to incorporate it into everyday life so that you never have to come back to this point I. You're life again. This place and these people have not just saved my life. They've saved my future and my family and have helped me give my son the best mom he deserves. They listen to and they hear you. The work with and for you and show you you're not alone . They show you how to live and have fun and enjoy life without letting your mind get the best of you and with out chemical help.
