Chores and responsibilities are divided fairly and are not overwhelming. Most people in the house are respectful of other people’s property with the exception of one or two people. Staff really care, and they consistently go above and beyond for you. Even after I completed treatment, I still received check-in messages from Markie who made sure I was doing well post-treatment. During treatment, my insurance abruptly cut me off with no warning and no step down option. Anchored Tides generously provided me with two weeks of scholarship so that I could transition out of their program rather than be cut off the way my insurance planned. I really hope I never require treatment again, but if I do, I would go straight back to Anchored Tides! Since going to CMR and moving to Orange County I have seen her become a completely different person. She’s tried getting sober before and other places just weren’t getting the results we were hoping for. She has been able to repair relationships with her family and I finally have my friend back! I first heard about Buckeye Recovery Network almost a decade ago when a family member of mine completed their program after struggling with drug addiction. They went on to stay sober for nine years. When they were eventually faced with a relapse, our family knew BRN was the place we wanted them to return to. Even all these years later, members of our family across the country still remember their previous case manager, therapists, and directors by name. I think that says so much about the kind of care BRN provides. They don’t just treat the person struggling with addiction or mental health issues they support the entire family and help everyone make lasting changes that can begin to heal the family system.I personally attended their Tuesday night family education and support group for two years. Even though I wasn’t the one enrolled in their program, I found so much hope, education, and support there for myself. Substance use and mental health struggles have impacted my family in many ways, so over the years I also had the opportunity to meet their Program Director, Sara, and Clinical Director, Natasha, several times. What I’ve learned is that BRN is truly small but mighty. They have a great staff-to-client ratio, comfortable and home-like group rooms, and they are therapist-owned and operated. It never feels like a large, impersonal treatment center. What stands out most to me, though, is the experience and credentials behind the compassion. Their team is highly educated, experienced, and genuinely cares about the people and families they serve. When someone you love is struggling, it can be incredibly difficult to know who to trust. BRN has been a place our family has trusted for nearly a decade, and it is still where I would send someone I love when they need help. Prior to attending, I had been to three other facilities by my early 20s. I was ready to give up. Hopeless and after a weeks long hospital stay with psychosis, I made the trip to California. Steven, Ariel, Casey, Lucas, Mama Dukes (Judy) and all the support techs who helped me navigate those early days were amazing. My case manager, Cliff guided me through completing legal paperwork and made sure I covered my bases on that end. We met for check-ins, he made sure I had therapy sessions, and tracked my progress along with resolving any issues I had. He guided me towards progress, for example, personally taking me to volunteer at a soup kitchen, so I stayed busy while looking for a job. Or when he took me rock climbing when I was in my early days and quite down on life. Andy and Dave made groups something to look forward to, not dread. I can count on those guys for anything and am in touch with them long after my stay. Anthony was also a great help in navigating the complexities regarding insurance, etc. Art therapy class with Lily helped me decompress and express myself in ways I would not have imagined. Paul, our nutritionist, guided me on proper nutrition and through foods to improve my overall physical and mental health. Also, having a gym membership and accommodations to get there helped me put my health first. Not to mention the numerous outings, from an Anaheim Ducks hockey game, to the Long Beach Grand Prix, to beach volleyball, we had a blast as a group. The smaller size of the facility made it easy to form connections and bond with other clients. If any issues ever came up, staff was quick to mediate the situation and put us back on track better than before. It wasn’t always easy, and things didn’t always go as I had planned, but looking back, the team, from support techs, counselors, and staff provided every step of care from their years long experiences. From detox, to inpatient, to IOP, to sober living, R&R helped me in a way I could not have helped myself. I can proudly say I am 13 months sober after graduating from the R&R program in May of 2025. I could write many pages about my experience at R&R, but to put it simply, as someone who has been through it elsewhere, R&R is the best in the game.
