HVRC saved my life & has helped me find my life purpose again. Initial phone call: Medicare availability & insurance requirements checked. Told to bring my own pillow & blanket & scheduled for a driver pick-up. Drive to facility & intake: Donnie answered all of my general questions w/ a calm drive. I walked through the intake forms, insurance paperwork, general overview of detox & expectations of the program. Detox: Supportive Dr. Raja, skilled nursing staff, hospital meals tailored to my nutritional needs & wants, a room to sleep, heal & detoxify my body, I felt confident on my recovery journey. Proximity to the ER is a plus if I needed a higher level of care due to complex medical issues. Counselors: All patients are assigned a counselor. Check-ins on individual situations & progress of your rehabilitation process. They are kind, compassionate & loving humans. Classes: Daily schedules have a variety of holistic rehabilitation classes. Lectures, experiential groups, healthy lifestyles, meditations, yoga, Native American circles, NA/AA meetings, recovery planning, Men & Women’s groups, Just for Today talks, arts & crafts, HVRC has it. Hands down the best learning experience I have ever done (& continue in my personal recovery plan) was “Pain Group” w/ Sherry Burditt, RN, HN-BC (AHNA Board Certified Holistic Nurse) for 5 weeks. A progressive learning experience allowed me to use self-discovery, emotional healing & spiritual growth to face past demons, learn about my own energy (Chakras) & love myself again. HVRC Community: For nearly 90 days, I was immersed in the HVRC family. People you share your days & nights with, along with your thoughts, feelings, assignments & food, to the nursing staff, counselors, administrative staff, drivers, the house senior residents/house managers to daily HVRC volunteers, people are supportive, kind & are there to do what is best for mankind: sustain an environment of caring, client-first vibes. Continuing care & Alumni meetings: Thursday nights: an in-person continuing care program that supports HVRC alumni. Counselors offer support in multiple ways. Next is the Alumni in-person/Zoom AA/NA meeting. A great night for a meeting & connecting with so many others who are going through the same thing that I am: staying clean & sober. HVRC Alumni events: President Jeff does a GREAT job sharing where the donated money goes. Helping clients with prescriptions, housing & other necessities, to fun things for clients & staff with auction baskets, sit-down dinners, arts & crafts, hiding Easter eggs & Sam the Leprechaun, supplying treats to buy at the Alumni store, cookouts, individual gifts, Veteran recognitions, & more!! HVRC Alumni is a space for us to stay connected by volunteering, supplying resources or giving money year-round. *I just can’t say enough good things about my recovery & experience from Hemet Valley Recovery Center. I knew I wasn't going to talk to him again really if you're going to be a therapist you can't tell someone that what there saying isn't true. I didn't respect that about that man because I been through a lot I wonder why he is a therapist there. He doesn't even know me but he made it seem like I was lying about what happened to me in my pass.And it seemed like he had selective hearing like I was talking to myself. I think they need to replace that man and I pray that financially that cedar House stays open for many more years to come. I’ve read a few negative reviews here and from my experience, these are petty complains due to certain persons just not getting their overly unrealistic expectations met but for the average respectable person who knows when in rehab and during detox, there are always times where one feels badly, however this is not the recovery centers fault, it’s just the nature of detoxing and learning coping skills and dealing with personal addictive habits, codependencies, and traumas. I’m interested in seeing how they improve these things in the future and will definitely stay in touch, for being my first time in a treatment program overall was a GREAT experience and will and well as am VERY GRATEFUL and this place saved my life. The case workers Alejandra and Angela work above and beyond to make sure everything you need is taken care of. Angela is also the educator and teaches some really informative group classes that help you understand your disease. And the rest of the staff are all amazing and I’m really going to miss all of you! I have been a patient here for more years than I care to admit. With that ive seen alot. Is this a perfect solution to opiate addiction? That depends on you and the program you want to work. The staff that are there for you are really good people and they will treat you how you treat them. The front desk ladies, Melissa and Alexis are Angels, they work soo hard to make sure your patient experience is as comfortable as possible,both of them go above and beyond to help us patients. The counseling staff i only really know my counselor, and thats because this place does have a "revolving" door of counselors. I won't go into the company politics but the case load, the work and the overall stuff they have to do in the time they have is just impossible and they just get burned out really fast and split. My counselor im blessed to have. My counselor has been at this clinic for way more years than I have and she is amazing. I have seen her console the most desperate person in they're most time of desperation, ive also seen her stop a 6 foot 4, 300lbs man from completely busting the place up and bringing him to tears. My counselor has helped me more times than I can count, she is my second counselor, but she had helped me with my Son and his learning difficulties. Unfortunately my son grew up at the clinic, he used to come with me to my counseling sessions with my first counselor and watch movies on his portable DVD player while I had my sessions. While I feel regret with my Son growing up in a place like this, but my son is now an amazing hard working adult, who has never done any kind of drugs and dosen't even drink alcohol. I've been honest with my Son about my addiction issues and he grew up seeing addicts on the street, at the clinic and 1 even being his Dad, he has seen what addiction does. He has also seen that recovery is definitely possible. Overall is Riverside Treatment Center a perfect place? Nope. People have bad days, addicts want instant gratification either with drugs or service, are there some individuals who will provide you a fix? Sure there is, but thats up to you. Do you want to get clean off of Street drugs? Then go and work an honest program at the clinic, but if your not ready then those people will be there waiting for you whether at the clinic or your neighborhood corner. I will say that being i have take home meds, I dont hang around this place much anymore. And from what I have seen alot of the street activity has cleared up a bit. The location plays a huge roll in the negative people that can be around the clinic. This area is a breeding ground for drug activity and with a methadone clinic smack dab in the middle of this area, your going to have this kind of activity. The clinic can only keep its area clear of that stuff, they can't control the bus stops and fast food areas of activity, thats up to us as patients working a program. They offer multiple groups and tomorrow even though having pizza you know but I've also found in order to make any type of recovery or progress you have to find someone to hold you accountable you have to actually be accountable to yourself if you hold yourself accountable you can always see improvement but you won't actually make improvement and tell you have someone hold you accountable.
