There were people there who genuinely cared, listened to me, and helped me through a very difficult time. I’m grateful for the experience and the people I met, and I would still recommend this facility to someone who is looking for help. However, I do feel that there is an important issue that needs to be addressed regarding medications at discharge. Before leaving, I was specifically told that all of my medications would be going home with me. I understood that to mean exactly that—all medications I had been prescribed and paid for would be included in my discharge medications. When I got home and realized that one of my medications was missing, I called the facility to ask about it. I was then told that I “didn’t need” the medication. My concern is that I had already been told I would be taking all of my medications home, and I had also paid for the medication. Even if they felt I didn’t currently need it, there was still a possibility that I could run into a situation where I might need it, which is exactly why I was concerned about not having it available. I understand that medical professionals may make decisions about what medications are necessary, but if a medication has been prescribed, paid for, and the patient has been specifically told that it will be sent home with them, I feel there should be clear communication about any changes before discharge. I shouldn’t have had to get home, discover that something was missing, and then call to find out why. This is not meant to take away from the positive aspects of my experience. I’m thankful for the care and support I received, but I do believe the discharge medication process could be handled much better. Clear communication and making sure patients receive what they were told they would receive would make the transition home much less stressful. Amanda Boast 1 month ago My experience at Recovery Beach was really enjoyable. The staff does an amazing job making every client feel seen and understood. They also provide you with a personalized medication regimen which alleviates the stressors of depression, anxiety, sleep problems, etc. that typically present themselves during treatment. Three meals are provided a day and snacks are always readily available. The only area that could use some work is the organization of phone time and med pass around the daily schedules. Overall, there’s always healthy and productive activities to do at this facility, and I finished my experience feeling much more clear minded and hopeful for my future outside of treatment. What I received in 30 days “far” exceeded my expectations. From the moment I arrived I was met with warmth, kindness, and an implied sense of understanding I hadn’t expected. Although a little apprehensive initially, I felt I had arrived at the right place. Having felt for so long that no one could possibly understand me or the complexities I had been dealing with, I was somewhat taken back by how quickly I’d be relieved of that burden and begin to build trust in the members of the staff. Speaking of which, each member of the staff always made me feel welcome, cared for, and that they were motivated to make my stay as comfortable and productive as possible. Their insights and expertise they would share at the group sessions (and when I’d speak to them individually) always left me better than when I arrived. I will forever be grateful for the Opus team. I believe not only have they changed my life for the better but set me on an entirely new trajectory to make the most of my future. Brittany and Martha and one other person in front desk that I don’t remember the name of was very helpful since first day. Taline the nurse who dispenses the medication was very nice and helpful same with Bianca (Im sure that’s her name but a part of me feels like her name might be different and I accidentally mixed the name up so I’m leaving this note up just in case I got the name wrong but she’s on the computer in the first door left when you enter in the hallways) was also very nice and attentive and helpful and I think is the manager of the entire place and she helps me transfer to my new place by coordinating everything. The doctor with glasses is very chill and very fun to have conversations with and helped me find my correct dose of medication. And Angela who isn’t my counselor but has lots of candy would give me lots of candy especially airheads she is the candy lady. My first counselor was Gloria who was very kind and listened very well in sessions and second counselor I forgot name of never showed up and I think got fired and was a weird woman and third counselor I forgot name of was a cool guy and listened very well.
