Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
sober-living iconSober Living Homes
Sober Living Houses (SLHs), aka sober homes or halfway houses, are safe, substance-free, supportive living facilities for those recovering from substance abuse. Ideal for those who've just been through inpatient or outpatient treatment, SLHs are supervised environments with rules that support sobriety, such as curfews, shared chores, and therapeutic meetings. Residents are also often trained on life skills and coping skills to make it easier to transition into society. SLHs also provide a strong sense of community that can lead to the kind of deep and lasting connections with other sober individuals that supports a new, healthy lifestyle.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
During the first phase of recovery – detox – it is crucial to have 24-hour clinical care in California. This care provides constant monitoring in order to ensure your safely and comfort as you progress through the withdrawal process for drug or alcohol addiction. Licensed professionals prescribe medications to treat withdrawal symptoms and provide frequent monitoring to ensure your safely as addictive toxins leave your system.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in California teaches participants constructive ways to stay clean and sober. Treatment revolves around helping individuals stop using the substance they are addicted to and learn healthy habits to avoid relapse.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

equine-therapy iconEquine Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

EMDR is a therapeutic modality originally developed to help process trauma. In an EMDR session, a patient is prompted to undergo eye movements that mimic those of REM sleep. This is accomplished by watching a therapist's finger move back and forth across, or following a bar of light. The goal is repetitive sets of eye movements that help the brain reprocess memory, which can significantly reduce the intensity of remembered traumatic incidents. Associated memories can heal simultaneously, leaving patients significantly calmer, more stable, and more emotionally relaxed.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Substances can prevent the absorption of nutrients and cause damage to your body's systems. Nutrition therapy in California addresses the deficiencies in vitamins and minerals that are caused by substance abuse.

Recreational therapy is included in alcohol and drug addiction treatment to focus on engaging you in healthy activities that reduce your cravings and improve your overall health and well being. When you participate in group sports, art, or nature walks, you develop new interests and find a meaningful way to spend your time and reduce your cravings.

The use of experiential therapy can be helpful for the treatment of behavioral disorders, including drug and alcohol addiction. This method teaches you how to release negative emotions and cope with pain from the past. Activities such as art, music, and animal care are used to facilitate this process.

This faciility is unprofessional and they take advantage of vulnerable clients. A woman there was having uncontrollable seizures with epilepsy and wanted to go home to seek the appropriate medical care. They refuse to let her go after they upruptly discontinued a benzodiazepine taper which continued to decrease her seizure threshold. Instead they let non medical personnel follow her around to watch for seizure activity with no training. They hold people against their will and have them sign consent forms while under the influence when detoxing. In addition, they expect clients to clean their homes at 630 in the morning, get bossed around all day about what they cannot do, and sit at meals with a timer to start eating, and when to stand up and sit down like the military. They are ok allowing clients to smoke all day, instead of healing, not being able to work out, having peaceful mediations, and solutions offered for recovery. There is no gym or equine therapy offered as on the website. These individuals taking care of people are early in recovery themselves and I witnessed them participate in drama with clients causing more tension and anxiety for everyone. One of the personnel was actually high while giving out medications. I highly recommend staying way from here It is not a healing place but a boot camp run by un-professionals who claim to be educated. Some positives I was impressed by the chef her food was excellent . One of therapist there name Halle was also excellent, and a 2 technicans name Britany and Josie.

If I could put 0 stars I would, website is misleading, staff is absolutely rude to the clients, especially 1 that we called Sarge, Staff would eat before the clients, my room was small and had 2 metal cots to sleep on, food was stored in a hot garage No AC in the room group was held in a garage all day, I wouldn't send my worst enemy their when I left I was worse than the way I went in Absolutely a horrible place!!!

I was at Casa for about 40 days and it changed my life. The therapists , house techs and medical staff really do care about the clients. We are totally spoiled with attention and every thing I could possibly need was given to me. The clients I was there with are now going to be a part of my life as well. We still keep in touch everyday in group texts. The houses are super clean and well appointed. I truly miss everyone everyday. If you are in need of a life makeover and life changing recovery of your mind, body and Soul then get yourself to Casa Capri. ❤️

My experience at casa Capri was so rich and rewarding. I came in full of fear (and alcohol) Very professional staff, groups run from 9:00-4:00 which seemed insurmountable, but it went by so quickly each day. The groups were facilitated by educated professional women who truly love what they do, hence there was so much I learned and was able to share and process my traumas in a loving safe environment. We went out to AA meetings, LAA, Coda and zoom meetings. Thanks Katie and Karen you are great case managers and really guided me well throughout my stay and very beneficial in my aftercare plan. My aftercare typically ghosts after a while through having been through more than 3 other treatment stays. The chef’s food was not only nutritious, it was presented so beautifully and tasted spectacular!!’ The community I felt at casa was fabulous. They provide breath-works, sound baths, beach trips and outings include museums, libraries, massages, and bowling. Casa Capri thank you for everything I learned and my personal growth wouldn’t have been possible anywhere else!!! To thine own self be true.

Casa Capri was everything I needed and more. Before coming here I was hopeless, depressed, and caught in a vicious cycle of addiction. Here I learned about what CAUSES addiction and how to equip myself with the proper tools to prevent relapse. It truly felt like the world outside was on pause while I was here on some sort of mental health retreat. They have an amazing, holistic approach that focuses on healing the mind and getting in touch with your true self. I was on a journey of self-discovery here with an amazing group of women of ALL ages. I couldn't imagine a safer space to learn and get to know myself. Substances prevented me from doing this on my own. This is truly a place of non judgment that encouraged me to be more vulnerable than I ever have. The staff here is wonderful. The technicians are all so funny, full of personality, and are in recovery as well. They provide so much wisdom while also taking great care of everyone. These women are superheroes! Shoutout Allison, Yolanda, Christine, Janelle, Josie, and Chandler! Phones and all electronics are taken away here for the first 30 days. When you leave detox and enter residential, you are allowed to use the landline during certain hours once you have lived in residential for 7 days (time in detox doesn't count). Once you reach 30 days in residential you are allowed your phone at night during certain hours. I also recommend bringing toiletries and cosmetics that are unopened and all alcohol free! Same with vapes and cigarettes, they must be unopened. Products that do have alcohol such as perfume or are sharp such as tweezers will be kept locked away and you can only use them in the presence of a technician. All of these rules were easy to get used to and I honestly loved not having my phone. I don't think we realize that phones can be just as addicting as substances so it was amazing to have a break. The houses are all renovated, nicely decorated, and have more than enough space for storage of all your belongings. Beautiful kitchens, bathrooms, and large backyards. There is laundry on-site as well. One house even has a pool! My stay was so comfortable and I felt safe at all times. Detox is a more controlled than residential so expect to gain a lot more freedoms once you move from detox to residential. All four houses (1 detox house and 3 residential houses) are all on the same block with 3 of the houses being right next door to each other! I have no doubt I will be in constant contact with the incredible tribe of women I met here. I felt truly understood for the first time in my life when prior I felt so alone. The opposite of addiction is connection and that is exactly what Casa Capri gave me--connection with others and connection to myself. I am leaving here so inspired and I can't wait to see my life improve tenfold because of this recovery center. Thank you thank you thank you!
