I attended, and unfortunately, worked at Elevate Addiction Services from February 2025 - August 2025. What I can honestly say this place is not what it pretends to be. They market themselves as a forward-thinking, holistic recovery center, but in reality, they're just a rebranded version of Narconon. This is a Scientology-based organization with a long history of controversy and abuse. Despite their attempts to distance themselves, the same manipulative, cult-like practices still exist, just buried under buzzwords and performative wellness language. Instead of real group therapy or licensed clinical support, most of the “treatment” revolves around reading and filling out workbooks, sometimes for up to 5 hours a day. They give you a counselor that you’re supposed to meet with once a week, I think I only met with mine 2-3 times, often sessions lasting less than 30 minutes. Group therapy is uncommon and largely unproductive. For people trying to recover from life-threatening addiction issues, the absence of real, professional clinical care is not only irresponsible, it’s dangerous. Elevate also operates a so-called “Training Program” which is nothing more than a labor exploitation scheme. Vulnerable clients, still very early in recovery, are made to work 50–60 hour weeks, for whopping $50 a week. This is for the slight chance you may end up being hired. They dangle housing and a false sense of purpose to keep you trapped in a cycle where there's no real path forward, only burnout and codependence. If you do get fired, they pay you the literal bare minimum and expect the world from you. I personally experienced discrimination while working there, regularly given different tasks and treatment because I’m gay. The worst of it was when I would go back to where I was required to live and hear gay joke after gay joke. It got to a point that I started keeping a folder in my notes app just to write them down. I never said anything for fear of repercussion. Not only from the directing staff, but also from my peers. I knew they would not anyone for such an offense, and saying these things about my roommates/coworkers to upper management would just upset them, ultimately making my life harder in the long run. Now here’s where it gets juicy, instead of firing staff members who violate clear ethical boundaries — like giving the “trainees” drugs as a “counselor”, or sleeping with recently graduated clients, they just move them to a different facility or attempt to hide their behavior. I have witnessed multiple staff members get shuffled around rather than held accountable for serious misconduct. Meanwhile, I was fired after being manipulated and coerced into a relapse by a staff member who was working as a trainee while I was a client, named Alyssa. She then later bragged to other staff members that she “targeted” me because I would pay for everything she wanted. What happened with this you ask? She got a second chance; what they call a “work exchange,” while I was told I’d have to pay $40,000 to return for treatment, even after all the time I spent working for them. Additionally, Elevate makes no effort to hide the fact that private pay clients are treated better than insurance clients. My own boss told me directly that private-pay clients are given better rooms. It's a clear sign that money comes before ethics or care of specific clients and their cases. All in all, this place is sick. They don’t care about your healing, your safety, or your future. They care about labor, image, and profit. If you’re truly seeking recovery, look elsewhere — somewhere with licensed therapists, professional standards, and staff who actually care more about your wellbeing than their profits and image.

Accepted Insurance

Elevate Addiction Services works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Financing your treatment can make treatment more accessible. You'll work with your care provider to set up payment plans, including interest rates and repayment timelines. Financing options vary widely and not all programs offer them, so be sure to get the full details before enrolling in treatment. If you have insurance or other benefits, financing may help you cover your remaining out of pocket expenses.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Rehab aftercare programs offer clients in addiction recovery a robust continuum of care after clients have completed active treatment. These services address recovery as a life-long process and are designed to evolve with clients' changing needs. Clients may partner with their case managers and/or addiction recovery team to identify the rehab aftercare services that are right for them. They may receive career counseling, housing assistance, peer coaching, 12 step program induction, among many other services.

12-step icon12-Step

Participants engaged in 12 step programs receive intensive peer coaching (sponsorship) and community support. Spiritual development as a means of achieving psychological and emotional healing and growth is the cornerstone of 12 step recovery, but religious affiliations are not required. Meetings are free, anonymous, and open to the public, though specialized formats are available, including groups for seniors, teens, and family members. Evening, night, and day meetings are conducted year-round in most communities.

sober-living iconSober Living Homes

Sober Living Houses (SLHs), aka sober homes or halfway houses, are safe, substance-free, supportive living facilities for those recovering from substance abuse. Ideal for those who've just been through inpatient or outpatient treatment, SLHs are supervised environments with rules that support sobriety, such as curfews, shared chores, and therapeutic meetings. Residents are also often trained on life skills and coping skills to make it easier to transition into society. SLHs also provide a strong sense of community that can lead to the kind of deep and lasting connections with other sober individuals that supports a new, healthy lifestyle.

heart-hands iconIntervention Services

Intervention services helps family or friends of addicts stage an intervention, which is a meeting in which loved ones share their concerns and attempt to get an addict into treatment. Professional intervention specialists can help loved ones organize, gather, and communicate with an addict. They can guide intervention participants in describing the damage the addict's behavior is causing and that outside help is necessary to address the addiction. The ideal outcome of an intervention is for the addict to go to rehab and get the help they need.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

telehealth iconTelehealth

Using telehealth options in California allows you to share health information with your provider via phone call, video chat, or healthcare apps. You can meet with them virtually as well as submit health information online so they can track your progress without having to meet with them in person.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in California teaches participants constructive ways to stay clean and sober. Treatment revolves around helping individuals stop using the substance they are addicted to and learn healthy habits to avoid relapse.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image

LGBTQ Program

Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Fitness therapy blends exercise with psychotherapy for a fun, inspiring, and effective way of treating addiction and other issues. By incorporating movement into counseling sessions, clients become more empowered, motivated, and goal-oriented, all while strengthening their bodies and becoming more flexible. Fitness Therapy is usually used to complement a course of treatment (inpatient or outpatient) to make it even more successful. Increasing the connection between a patient’s mind and body helps both with healing as well as in creating new, healthy habits.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Recreational therapy (aka therapeutic recreation) uses creative and fun activities to help with addiction recovery. Recreational therapists lead patients in entertaining and engaging activities like sports or games; art (drawing, painting, sculpture); drama, music, and dance; and/or community outings (field trips) to improve patients' physical, social, and emotional well-being.

For clients who are struggling with ambivalence toward change, motivational interviewing in California can help strengthen their commitment to change. Using a conversational method, the therapist helps you explore your motivations and empowers you to make the changes you desire.

This program really helped my daughter get sober by giving her the tools she needed to figure out that she was only harming herself. My daughter recently graduated from Elevate and has roughly past her 100th day sober and it’s been a big turn around and we are so grateful for the program and happy to have our daughter back home she’s much happier and interacts with the family more unlike before. I can’t thank all of the staff at Elevate for all the patience, understanding, and guidance they gave her.

Response from the owner
So glad to hear Veronica! 100 days is huge! We're very glad to have been able to impact your family positively!

Before coming to Elevate I was lost in life and was in need of help. After finishing the full program not only did I beat my addiction, but I rediscovered my self identity and worth. I can’t thank Elevate enough for helping me find the joy in life again, and also to everyone I met along the way, thank you.

Response from the owner
Thanks Neil! Loss of the sense of self is one of the greatest tolls of addiction and thus it's one of our greatest joys to help people rediscover who they are and who they are truly meant to be!

If you are truly ready for a change in your life, if you want something different in your life and are not afraid to work for it. Elevate is the place to go

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Elevate Addiction Services has truly changed my life. From the moment I arrived, I felt supported, respected, and seen as a whole person—not just my addiction. The program is unlike anything I’ve experienced before. It’s holistic, structured, and focused not only on overcoming addiction but on building a meaningful, balanced life afterward. The staff is incredible—compassionate, knowledgeable, and genuinely committed to each person’s recovery. The combination of physical fitness, mindfulness practices, counseling, and life skills development made all the difference for me. I left Elevate feeling empowered, not broken. If you’re looking for a place that goes beyond surface-level treatment and actually equips you to thrive in recovery, I can’t recommend Elevate enough. This place gave me the tools and confidence to rebuild my life—and for that, I’ll always be grateful.
