I am writing this review to help perspective clients understand what they are getting into prior to arriving at Northbound Garden Grove. Maybe it is all available online, but my sorry butt didn't find it. I wish I had this information up front. Be careful what you "commit" to during the initial intake phone conversation. This will be used in all of your intake paperwork that they breeze over and have you sign during your most vulnerable hours right after arriving at the facility. If you choose to leave Northbound earlier than that commitment date, they will place a 72-hour ACA hold (against clinical advice) on your electronics, IDs, credit cards, & medication. My advice would be to commit to the minimal amount of time allowed (detox only?). You can always extend that commitment if the facility resonates with you. All of your electronics that can connect to the internet will be removed from your possession for the first 14 days of your stay. After this period, you will be able to use those electronics between the hours of 4 & 7pm in the common areas of the facility only. I think this policy might be further relaxed after 21 or 30 days. You will find it VERY difficult to communicate with anyone outside of the facility during your period in detox. Once you are moved out of detox, you will be allowed one 15-minute phone call from a landline in a common area that you must schedule in advance by tracking down your case manager. When you are able to find them, everyone from the therapists, case managers, medical staff, etc, are genuinely caring and helpful when dealt with on an individual basis. But understand, you will be treated like a child when lumped in with the masses since staff needs to cater to the lowest common denominator. If that is something you need, or can tolerate, then you may find Northbound to be effective provided you put in the work.

Mitch lied and made false promises of what to expect at treatment(common practice from what I heard other patients say) First 24 hours there all they gave me to eat was lettuce and tomato. Mitch promised I would be able to walk laps around building. Was never allowed to walk around building. Cockroaches everywhere. 5 beds per tiny room. Very dirty. Staff always playing games on phone especially night shift. Now getting treatment at LAGUNA TREATMENT CENTER. Much better here. Staff is actually trained and very professional. Dont waste your time and money here

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Inpatient rehab provides intensive treatment for clients exiting detox, those in early recovery, and those at an elevated risk of relapse. Unlike outpatient drug rehab, clients receiving inpatient care reside at the facility for the duration of the program. The length of stay may range from two weeks to 18 months or more, depending on the client's needs and the program's design. Inpatient treatment typically involves extensive addiction education and recovery-focused life skills training.

Commonly known as "day treatment," a partial hospitalization program (PHP) is an intensive form of outpatient treatment where clients meet during the day and return home in the evening. PHP treatment doesn't require 24-hour care and often serves as an alternative to inpatient hospitalization or a step-down after a residential program. With PHP treatment, you can receive daily support for 6 to 8 hours which includes evidence-based therapies and medication management. The cost of PHP treatment typically varies but averages 90 days.

Clients receiving treatment at an outpatient rehab typically do not require hospitalization or intensive supervision and support. Outpatient addiction counseling and recovery education are often offered during the morning, evening, night, and weekend, allowing clients to tailor treatment to their own schedule. Partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) programs are the most time-intensive and are designed for clients who are at an increased relapse risk and/or who need more robust therapeutic support.

When addicted, quitting your drug of choice suddenly can be dangerous. That's why experts agree a medically assisted detox is the safest way to remove addictive substances from the body. Usually done in an inpatient setting, your vitals signs and overall well being are consistently monitored and rechecked in order to keep you safe and ensure the detox is successful.
