I highly highly suggest when considering this place to ask for Dwan/ Eva or Megan (behavioral counselor) they were/are soooo good to us and they see how much we love our children. How we care, feed, and love our children, they guided me to sooo many resources, very respectful of your time and your schedule without making you feel bad about it! I hope they get a raise, they bust their busts to do everything for their clients and those three truley deserve it idk what I’d do without them, but I’ll never ever Have Mellissa near my children ever again and we avoid certain things due to her being there otherwise love the program ❤️

The facility was filthy, torn up, smelled badly, furniture was in poor condition, and the overall state of the facility was worrisome. I completed the 30-day program at Vista Taos and had an amazing experience and met a lot of great people during my stay. I have been in other treatment centers and Vista Taos is by far the best! JD was my therapist and had great knowledge and experience when it came to relapse prevention, identifying triggers and learning about the disease of addiction as well as tapping into trauma and trauma response actions. If you're looking for a rehab that works, this is the place to go. The environment is serene and peaceful. Weekly outings, 5-star meals, off-site meetings, individual therapy, queen sized comfy beds, full bathrooms with tubs or standing showers all accommodated for a comfortable stay for me while I was being rehabilitated for Methamphetamines and Alcohol. The staff was kind and respectful towards my needs and gave great inspiration and encouragement during my stay. Vista Taos is by far the best rehab in New Mexico. The facilities and environment and programs at Vista Taos are exceptional. I researched many rehab facilities in the U.S. in several states (NM, Ariz., Utah, Colorado, Texas, Louisiana, Florida) and after careful consideration of all features, size, programs, quality of care, offerings, environment -- Vista came out on top, as my #1 pick best of all rehab programs. Also, the intake counselor Jeremy was extraordinary, he took so much time and care to discuss programs and specifics, and advise me about pros and cons of rehab in general, what to look for, how to evaluate programs, and how to select the best options for my family member. He even helped me network with other rehabs to get their info and compare. He is an amazing resource and the most caring, giving intake person I encountered in all rehabs I searched. I endorse Vista as the very best of programs.

The cost of treatment is $33k to $35k. I wish I was joking but I'm not. If you have insurance you'll end up paying $2k+ which is still ridiculous. So here's what you get for that obscene amount of money. No visitation of any kind from anyone including children, spouses, and parents. No regular phone calls. They call you from a blocked number to prevent you from calling them back, and that phone call is only 10min to 30min long depending on the time you arrive. Did i mention they monitor your calls? Did i also mention you can't reach anything but admissions 9 times out of 10 which is in ABQ not the Taos center your loved one is at?? Past that you aren't allowed any contact with your loved ones. You may write a letter and drop off flowers and supplies to help make it easier for your loved one, but they don't openly advertise this anywhere. If you have a physical injury and need your medication perscribed by your primary care dr, they will deny you the meds until their Dr approves. You also get told you can have candy like chocolates and with throw away your candies I'm your bag without reimbursement. Sealed clearly obviously name brand candy like Twix for example will be tossed. You basically can have no real sweets. They say it mimicks the highs and lows, but don't be fooled. They don't care about your recovery. You will go to AA meetings, do electives like in grade school such as art and dance, but there in no help for trauma, which would solve the underlying reason for using in the 1st place. The staff is nice and down to earth, but you aren't going to meet nice people. You're going to get better. There is where the problem lies. They lack the most fundamental tool for your recovery. CBT or cognitive behavioral therapy. This is just a facility not a rehabilitation. Many of the people feel like they aren't getting anything useful out of the program but stay because they already paid upfront for it. The worst thing you get here is told "you will relapse no matter what". They don't even believe in their program so why should you? When you voluntarily remove yourself due to lack of help, you don't get any kind of refund. Not even a prorated refund. They will withhold your personal property such as your cellphone even after you're checked out to prevent you from loaning others your phone, because limiting communication with the outside world is their main priority. There are countless rehabs that allow family calls and visits once or twice a week. This place treats you like a prisoner, and wastes your time educating you on the 12 steps which you can google. You're basically in a school to explain what addiction is, but not do a thing to cure the underlying reason for your usage, and worse yet telling you that you'll relapse 100% once you leave. To call this a rehabilitation center is cruel to those who are serious about getting the help they need. Don't get me wrong the room, food, and staff are nice but I didn't book a hotel. I booked a rehab for my wife. We don't want to lose our loved ones. No place is perfect but this is simply malpractice. I truly hope the state of new mexico shuts this place down, because its a shakedown that sends victims of addiction out with a message of guaranteed failure. New Mexico is dead last at everything in this country and this place wanted to ensure treatment would be on that list too. I highly recommend going out of state to Colorado, Arizona, or Texas for treatment. This is ran like a facility not a treatment center. And what I mean by that is, it's closer to being an institution than being treatment. The only thing this is good for is detox. Past that healing from your trauma is on you at a separate cost to you.
I'm the spouse of one of the patients. I'm the only reason she went as fast as she did. You do way more damage cutting a person like me out of the recovery process than good. Some co dependency is healthy in a marriage. This is a marriage afterall. It's our journey. You guys isolated her from her only teammate in this world and told her she would fail. 👎Highly unreccomend.
