About Recovery Unplugged Drug & Alcohol Rehab Austin

Music plays a huge role in treatment, along with other holistic therapeutic approaches. Music therapy can help reduce anxiety, relax muscles, strengthen communication skills, boost self confidence and improve your immune system! Music is a form of expression and can encourage creativity and bonding with others.

Their treatment helps by bringing you another step closer to the life you can live. By incorporating coping skills, learning how to regulate your emotions and participating in group and individual therapy, you create a strong foundation for recovery.

Another cool alternative approach available here is being able to receive telehealth treatment. This gives you an opportunity to get the healing you want in the comfort and privacy in your own home. Although you are receiving services virtually, they can still provide medication management for you as well.

Beginning treatment can seem uncomfortable and a little frightening because you are unsure of what to expect, how you are going to feel and not knowing anyone. What sticks out to me the most is being able to also bring your furry friend with you! Nonaggressive cats and/or dogs are allowed. They must have their vaccines, shots and food. Your pet must also be away and safe from other individuals.

I rediscovered my self here. I love recovery unplugged. Coming in off the streets with no home and no money but lucky enough to have health insurance I came through not knowing what to expect. They say home is where the heart is and I'm having growing pains after my 9 week stay. I love all the people i met from residential and php there were Many coming in and many moving forward. Each person inspired me in many ways. I was always learning something. it was a true blessing to have the ability to learn and grow in an environment that encourages the rediscovery in self authenticity, healthy coping skills, music and art therapy. Personalized trauma and family therapy and groups on addiction and over coming negative self talk. Learning how to forgive self and others. Heal. And heal and more healing in a safe vulnerable environment. The the community is full of all forms of love residents, alumni and staff all show up as one in creating this magical environment and experience. Shout out to the whole nursing staff at Alb- road. All the techs( Garret, mia, bailey, ect..ect.at Alb -road and all the therapists and Paulina too even though she still owes me a plate of Mole'. Thankyou Liliana- Lili) for asking me the tough questions, forcing my growth through gentle guidance and listening to me ramble. I love you. I love all of you, my love is real. At php the techs maintain the same outstanding level of care as residential. Thankyou matt, Tony,Brandon, Alex, Nico, Claire..ect...ect... You have a piece of my heart with you . Thankyou for having my back. PhiL, Ross, Bri-ttany, new chick jess. Y'all are amazing and probably have the best job in the building I'm gonna miss hanging out with y'all. Jaime in nursing thankyou for having my back multiple times. I will miss our laughter. Chloe in case management thankyou for listening to me and making magic happen you went above and beyond and made me feel like you've been helping people for years. The light worker you are. Thankyou for your effort. Brent, I love you bro I never once ever disliked your morning discussions in fact I looked forward to them every day. One of the highlights of my treatment. Pls never forget the light worker you are. Tracy your empathy is worth mentioning because it takes a very strong person to feel as much as you, guide, shape, and mold as you do, And be as vulnerable as you are. You work within the light never forget the light that you are. Tina, lulu and shawntil thankyou for the fun groups. Last but not least. Douglas my guide, my teacher, my brother I love you man. You surpassed everything I wanted and needed you to be .. we really went to work you and I, and I needed it.. you define the light, a mentor, a friend.. you are someone I will always look up too and think fondly of for the rest of my life.. Thankyou for being my therapist. It had to be Lili and then it had to be you... I appreciate everything you both gave because without being able to talk about certain things I wouldn't have come to the realization or understanding of past trauma and unhealthy viewpoints and coping mechanisms. And none of this would have happened.. I really appreciate recovery unplugged if you can't tell and this is by far the longest review or message or anything I've ever typed on my phone sober so love, peace, and blessings to all who read. Thankyou Recovery unplugged.

This PHP program is not too good. My therapist was ok and the psych Dr was good but the programming and the case management is horrible. Most techs are either aggressive or couldnt care less about the clients. I really liked the residential program on Albert Rd but when I was moved to their PHP program on S Congress it was a totally different experience. I wouldnt recommend going here at all. I was told a lot of lies while at residential about this place. Its really sad that my positive experience and hopeful outlook on my recovery after residential was all for not. Ive tried to remain hopeful in what originally appeared to be a strong alumni community but once again that has turned out to also be all for not as I have not heard from them. Their alumni coordinators said they would contact me and stay in touch to see how I was doing back out into the real world but of course I havent heard from them. Im out here trying to stay sober without much support. They didnt even set me up with a psych Dr so I could get my meds refilled or a therapist to continue my recovery. Its up to me to do what I can to stay sober but they didnt exactly set me up for success. Overall a really disappointing experience. Im leaving out a lot of specific details about their PHP program. Even my sponsor and also a fellow client in residential said its not that great of a program and they both were right. Proceed with caution.

Accepted Insurance

Recovery Unplugged Drug & Alcohol Rehab Austin works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

inpatient iconInpatient

Inpatient rehab programs are geared toward clients in early recovery. They also provide intensive support for clients in crisis and those at an increased relapse risk. Clients receive housing and meals while in inpatient care, allowing them to focus solely on their recovery. Most programs prioritize addiction counseling but may draw on various psychotherapeutic modalities, including CBT, DBT, RBT, trauma therapy, and motivational interviewing. Life skills training and holistic therapies are also common in inpatient care.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Rehab aftercare programs are based on a model of continuing care and the premise that recovery is a life-long process requiring ongoing client support. Many rehab aftercare services include outpatient care, but clients often continue to receive support after being discharged from formal treatment. Case managers and care teams typically collaborate with clients to design their long-term care plan, which may include peer coaching, career counseling, and 12 step program induction, among other services.

12-step icon12-Step

12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

heart-hands iconIntervention Services

Intervention services helps family or friends of addicts stage an intervention, which is a meeting in which loved ones share their concerns and attempt to get an addict into treatment. Professional intervention specialists can help loved ones organize, gather, and communicate with an addict. They can guide intervention participants in describing the damage the addict's behavior is causing and that outside help is necessary to address the addiction. The ideal outcome of an intervention is for the addict to go to rehab and get the help they need.

partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program

A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

24-hour clinical care in Texas provides a safe environment for medical detox. This setting is crucial to provide medical care during withdrawal. Certain withdrawal symptoms can cause life-threatening conditions, but patients in a supervised clinical setting have treatment readily available to address any symptoms before they become severe. Treatment can also be provided for co-occurring physical and mental health issues.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

During rehab in Texas, you'll deal with underlying issues that contribute to addiction. By addressing these challenges and learning healthy ways to cope with them, you'll develop strategies that help you live a drug-free lifestyle.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image

LGBTQ Program

Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
military-program thumbnail image

Military Program

Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

This place has REALLY gone down hill. They just had 5 clients all go to Dallas together and unfortunately all of them died from an overdose. How are you supposed to trust that the people you love will be taken care of here after finding out that information? Rehab is the one place you should be able to trust to be a SAFE place for your children, spouses, brothers and sisters etc. They also don’t send off drug tests for levels to save a few bucks which can be extremely harmful for clients who actually want to get sober but how are they supposed to be held accountable if they won’t do something as standard as sending UA’s off to a lab for levels to make sure there isn’t any kind of false positives or to make sure people have stopped using. Sending these tests off keep EVERYONE accountable, not just the clients. This place used to be the golden standard but now all they care about if being able to run your insurance for the most they can. I would save your money and take your loved ones somewhere else, well if you want them to have a real chance at actually being able to get better. I couldn’t be more disappointed in how my loved one was treated here. There are just much better rehab facilities here in Austin. Looking at some of the other reviews I’m not alone with being disappointed in how this program is being run. Just makes me so sad because this place used to be awesome.
