My Next Step is an amazing organization. After an extremely hard time in my life I spent 6 months in the program. The staff is amazing and is truly committed to helping people in the Amarillo community dealing with depression and addiction issues. I was able to connect to many amazing people struggling with the same issues I was struggling with. My Next Step provides a healthy positive environment for anyone wanting to step out of addiction. I graduated from the program almost two years ago, and still receive friendship and encouragement from the amazing staff and past graduates. If you truly want to change your life and find happiness on the other side of addiction I highly recommend this program. Know that for this program to work you have to want it. Swallow your pride, be willing to attend every class, join a support group like AA, and be willing to put in the work. If you are willing to do that i guarantee this program will change your life in the amazing ways it changed mine.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Treatments

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

My next step absolutely changed my life for the better!!! I started the program in April and today I have 8 months and 28 days clean and sober….! I can’t find the words to explain the staff…..they were exactly what I needed when I needed and I owe my life to them! I could write pages about my experience with My Next Step; If you want something better in life and an extended family that will walk with you and give you the love and support while holding you accountable; to get you there… then I only recommend MY NEXT STEP! It truly works IF YA WORK IT!!!

My Next Step is more than an intensive outpatient program. This is a place where one can gain valuable insight into how to live a life free of substances. When in active addiction, it is common to feel alone, lost, and as if there is no way out of the downward spiral life has gone. Walking into the doors at MNS, everyone is welcomed and never judged. The staff members have life experience that qualifies them to understand and offer solutions that have worked for them and so many others. This Christian based program focuses on every aspect of addiction offering family support, individualized treatment planning, and life-long recovery support. They understand that successful recovery is not just graduating from an IOP program but rather, it is a recovery lifestyle that each person is encouraged to remain active in long after completing the program. I thank God for letting me find My Next Step it has saved my life and helped me find my true purpose in life. I would strongly recommend MNS to anyone who is struggling with addiction.

I love this place. I have been to treatment 3 times, worked in treatment twice, and was surrounded by the “treatment world” so to speak down in South Florida. There is NOTHING like this program anywhere I have seen. The quality of care you receive here is nothing to compare to all other places I’ve experienced. The one to one time is truly amazing(and yes for those who know, you DO get the time with the counselor you’re supposed to, and more even if you need it), the intimacy of the groups is incredible and the staff is serious when they say they base treatment on ones individual needs. And it’s nothing flashy, nothing like other places that seem all about the money. These are people in recovery who CARE. Who KNOW. Who check on you when you aren’t being yourself and who will meet you where you are at, but really tho. They keep the doors open for alumni twice a week even! They are not just talking the talk, they are walking the walk. They are setting the standard high here in Amarillo of what treatment should look like. I’ve grown more here than I ever have in years in a short 4-ish months and they still are teaching me more about myself every day. Thank you My Next Step for giving me my life again. Being home is hard but it really is possible to stay clean where you got dirty when you have the right path to be on. Love you guys.

Although I did not complete the program (because I thought I had everything in control and moved for a job) and I did relapse afterward, when I did finally decide enough was enough, the tools they gave me were still so deeply ingrained i have confidence that by using those skills they taught me and God will give mon the path to recovery. If it weren’t for their staff (Especially Eric and Scott who truly understand the path to getting and staying clean and sober) there is no doubt in my mind I would probably not be alive today. This place, if you truly want to heal and recover, is THE place to do so. Thank you so much.
