About Florida Helps – Miramar

Florida Helps is in Miramar, Florida, and provides a safe and supportive environment for adults struggling with behavioral health issues. Miramar is strategically positioned between Miami and Fort Lauderdale in Broward County. It’s tragic that millions of Americans have behavioral health disorders, and only a small percentage get the help they need. Florida Helps’ staff recognizes that getting help can be intimidating. You may feel ashamed that you’re associated with a behavioral health problem, or you may feel you can’t afford treatment.

They believe that their compassionate and professional support will help you live a life of recovery. You’ll have access to residential treatment for a variety of mental health disorders. Residential care and extended residential programs address mental health and dual diagnosis treatment. This diagnosis requires an integrated and simultaneous approach to increase treatment success. It’s not uncommon for mental health conditions and substance use disorders to be present concurrently, and one condition often exacerbates the other.

You’ll transition into residential care to receive the intensive mental health treatment needed to achieve emotional wellbeing. Residential treatment immerses you in a therapeutic environment where you can fully focus on your recovery away from toxic situations. They’ll also improve your overall health by discouraging junk food, sugary drinks, and other bad habits.

Residential treatment can last up to 60 days while extended treatment can last beyond 90 days. Your residential treatment helps you cultivate skills that manage your mental health and take a deeper look at the root causes. This supervision helps you to make the right life choices that support your sobriety and develop a strong community support system.

Your customized treatment plan is developed based on a comprehensive evaluation. This is regularly monitored and adjusted so you continue to focus on your recovery goals. Care can include acupuncture, and sound therapy.

Florida Helps is equipped to handle severe cases by offering specialized care at their premier residential treatment facility. It features a warm and inviting atmosphere with natural wood accents and plenty of open floor space to encourage fellowship with your peers. Your personalized program is based on their core values of respect and dignity.

The staff works with many insurance providers in Florida. Your insurance coverage will be verified before you begin treatment. This reduces the risk that you receive an unexpected medical bill.

I want to take a moment to express my deepest appreciation and gratitude to every single person at FL HELP — from top dog Tom, to Janeth and the housekeeping team, to the kitchen chefs who made every meal with care and kindness. You all were instrumental in my recovery journey and truly an answered prayer from God during one of the darkest seasons of my life, while I was drinking my life away alone in a motel in Los Angeles. From my very first conversation with Cory, to feeling genuinely loved, seen, and appreciated by Kim, I realized quickly that FL HELP was different. What made my recovery possible was first taking a step of faith — trusting God and trusting FL HELP. Before arriving on March 31st, I lived one day at a time… just needing 24 hours. That mindset carried me through the eight days leading up to treatment, and it continues to carry me now. I do not want to ever have to return because I truly want a sober, healthy, and purposeful life. But if I ever needed help again, I would not trust my recovery with anyone else. Special kudos and heartfelt thanks to: Jackie — thank you for holding my hand through the entire process from admissions to discharge. Your support, patience, and guidance made an overwhelming process feel manageable and personal. Janeth, Alexa, and everyone in housekeeping for the love and care you showed daily. The chefs and kitchen staff — thank you for literally feeding me back to health, serving every meal with care, consistency, and kindness during a time when my body and spirit both needed healing. Mrs. V, Will, Brian, and Ms. T — your groups, wisdom, honesty, and encouragement had a tremendous impact on my recovery. Therapist Dr. Ken, Angelina, and Tommy — thank you for your guidance, support, and helping me process the deeper parts of my journey. The BHT team, especially Harry (“Harry Styles”), Tray Tray, Jordan, Eva, and the others who constantly showed patience, humor, and support. Sage — thank you for your positive attitude, uplifting energy, and yes… the high heels that always brought a little extra confidence and smile to the day. The nursing team, especially Nurse Roxana, for your compassion and professionalism during difficult moments. Nick and Adam — thank you for lending me your ears, listening without judgment, and simply being there when I needed it most. Recovery is not just about detoxing from alcohol — it is about rebuilding hope, dignity, faith, and purpose. Every one of you played a role in helping me begin that process. Thank you for reminding me that I was still worth fighting for. With sincere gratitude and respect, Daniel

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Residential care provides intensive treatment in a highly structured environment where you can focus solely on your treatment. Your inpatient treatment care includes 24/7 medical and psychological support with activities designed to develop healthy coping skills. This immersive setting isolates you from external triggers and fosters a strong foundation for recovery.

A 12 Step program is a widely recognized framework for overcoming addiction that typically emphasizes peer support and spiritual growth. Not every program is based on Christian beliefs. However, many of the basic tenets are the same, including seeking guidance from a higher power to make amends for harm done and help others in recovery. Meetings provide you with community support to share your experiences and encourage sobriety.

Clinical care provides continuous medical supervision that addresses severe mental health issues for a short time. This level of care ensures that during crisis, you have access to medical personnel who can manage acute medical and psychological needs. Your care includes medication management and support for co-occurring behavioral health conditions within a structured environment.

The first step of the recovery process involves the removal of all drugs and alcohol from your system while under 24/7 medical supervision. Known as a medically assisted detox, you are closely monitored by medical staff who can provide medications, if necessary, to help alleviate any potential withdrawal symptoms. Medical detox is usually followed by a period of inpatient addiction treatment.

Outpatient rehabs encompass multiple levels of care to facilitate clients' progress through their recovery journey. Clients who are stepping down from inpatient treatment may require intensive outpatient (IOP) treatment, which involves more frequent and substantive therapeutic interventions than does standard outpatient care. Outpatient centers typically provide extensive addiction counseling, including individual, group, and family therapy. Medication assisted treatment programs (MAT) and recovery-focused life skills training are also common in outpatient care.

Treatments

Treatment addresses mental health disorders and co-occurring disorders simultaneously. Care is tailored to meet your needs, ensuring that any interconnected issues are addressed to improve your chances of successful recovery. The aim is to ensure you receive accessible care for mental and behavioral health conditions so you achieve sustainable recovery.

When a person has alcohol use disorder (AUD), also referred to as alcoholism or alcohol addiction, they experience withdrawal symptoms when they stop drinking. This physical dependence results from overuse of alcohol, which may be used as a coping mechanism or escape. Individuals who have AUD can overcome the alcohol addiction through alcohol rehab in Florida. This treatment process involves essential therapy and supports to help the individual achieve and maintain recovery.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

In Florida, substance abuse treatment focuses on treating mental health and substance use disorders concurrently to improve recovery outcomes and overall health. Levels of care include medical detox, outpatient, residential treatment, and intensive outpatient programs. Clinicians utilize evidence-based therapies such as dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) or medication-assisted treatment, group therapy, and skills training activities. This comprehensive approach to treatment helps to ensure sustained recovery.

Programs

Adult services can include family therapy and support for underlying mental health conditions. Union Care is one program that's pretty unique to Florida Helps. This track is reserved for workers under pressure. You'll get tips and strategies on how to handle stress on the job while learning from your peers who've been in the same boat.

Treatment programs for women address focus on trauma and family dynamics that many women share. Florida Helps can help guide your healing while giving you tips on parenting and how to juggle work demands. Other women in the group offer you support and encouragement because they've been in your shoes and can share their experiences.

The men's program offers a place where you can openly discuss your worries and your struggles. Your peers will be there to lend a shoulder of support and offer their own experiences. You can get coping strategies for stress and anger management and participate in activities that promote physical health and emotional wellbeing.

The LGBTQ program provides specialized support to address challenges that the LGBTQ community typically faces, such as discrimination, social stigma, and trauma. Care services incorporate inclusive, gender-affirming care in a supportive environment. Your customized program may include individual counseling, group therapy, and community-building activities to ensure that you receive a holistic approach to recovery that respects and celebrates your identity.

Service members often encounter stressors and trauma due to their experiences in the armed forces. Our programs provide confidential, culturally competent care to address mental health issues that can occur alongside combat exposure and PTSD. You'll engage in peer support groups with fellow military personnel that foster a strong sense of camaraderie in your recovery journey.

Clinical Services

Group therapy provides a safe and supportive environment for people in Florida who are struggling with drug addiction. There you can openly discuss the challenges and progress you're making without fear of judgment from your peers who experience many of the same things you are.

Individual therapy often includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. This is a structured approach to identifying and changing negative thought patterns. During therapy you learn how what you think drives your actions so you can develop healthier coping strategies to manage addiction triggers and reduce drug use.

During family therapy sessions, you navigate the complexities of addiction and are provided tools to help improve communication and resolve conflicts. When you work together, families can better support their loved one's recovery and restore balance and harmony within the household.

Therapists who apply cognitive behavioral therapy in Florida believe patient thoughts and behaviors are closely linked. They use this treatment method to help clients change their thought patterns so they can also change behaviors and break free from substance abuse.

Life skills are the core skills you need for daily success. They can include self care, stress management, daily routines, and emotion control. Rehab treatment includes the development of these skills so you have the tools you need for long term recovery.

Dialectical behavior therapy in Florida consists of individual therapy and group instruction. This structured program is a form of psychotherapy that incorporates the development of skills for managing emotions and relationships.

As a short term therapeutic method, motivational interviewing in Florida requires only a couple of sessions. During these sessions, you'll have the opportunity to talk about your circumstances and any discrepancies between your current situation and future goals. You'll then decide for yourself what changes you want to make.

These people are awesome. They will go above and beyond to help you even when you do a bone head thing. BUT NO FORGIVENESS FOR BRINGING IN OR TRYING TO BRING IN DRUGS!! (No it wasn't me) lol. Tom is amazing and his story is for anyone who thinks they will never get clean. The food is off the chain the staff are awesome and the nurses especially the head nurse ( not gonna butcher her name) is truly an angel sent from heaven to knock out any issue that may arise medically. Dave is a no nonsense guy but being retired military that was welcomed as well. My last shout out is to Jordan for taking my service dog Buttons, to the vet for her shots and taking me to the dentist multiple times. The staff and Florida Helps are top notch. Hope to see them all again soon but clean and for a bigger and brighter purpose. Love you all
