I was a patient at Grady Park Place for about 2 years and fortunately able to leave and found another better facility. The proximity to my residence was a plus and they allowed me to see a Dr basically for medication every 3-4 months without also seeing a therapist, which many places require, so I gave Grady Park Place a chance since as a resident of Fulton County why not try it? Everything was ok at first despite the fact that many patients seem bound from courts or the atmosphere is very oppressive, they wand you when you come in. It’s not very inviting. But my psychiatrist put and out accused me in the notes of having “illusions of grandeur” and that I claimed to be educated and wanting to go to law school, seems like a positive goal, correct? I read the appointment notes and emailed Grady about the fact yes I have a master’s and paralegal certificate and why would this ever be questioned? No response. No one to ask about it. Then I took my resume (which states my schooling) and showed to the dr or nurse practitioner who then said I may have just made up a resume. At that I transferred out of Grady Park Place/Grady Health Systems. I was humiliated and distraught and it was not comforting or respectful to be belittled. In my experience it functions like an institution and is very clinical, when it should be a supportive place for any Fulton County resident. I do not recommend.

Ms.Tameka (Front desk personnel), Ms. Shay, and Mr. Lindsey (MH Case Managers) made a profound impression on me during my first visit. Their responses to my questions were informative and well-thought out. And they didn't seem burnt-out or angry but seemed to enjoy their positions there. They all showed a sincere passion for helping others with their issues and concerns. I felt empowered and encouraged after the consultation was completed. Thx so much.

Accepted Insurance

Behavioral Health Outpatient Center works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

inpatient iconInpatient

Inpatient rehabs feature intensive clinical supervision and a highly structured and supportive environment, meaning they are especially well suited for clients in early recovery and those at risk of relapse. Clients reside at the treatment facility and engage in various therapeutic sessions throughout the day, including addiction counseling and recovery-focused life skills training. Many programs also offer evidence-based complementary therapies, such as meditation and massage.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Clients enrolled in an intensive outpatient program (IOP) travel to treatment centers for specialized care multiple times per week. Intensive outpatient treatment allows clients to receive robust care while continuing to live at home. Most programs require between nine and 20 treatment hours per week, with the frequency and intensive of sessions decreasing as clients stabilize. Services generally include a combination of addiction counseling, medication assisted treatment (MAT), recovery-focused life skills training, and holistic therapies.

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

24-hour clinical care in Georgia reduces the risks involved in detox and addiction treatment. Without access to professional medical care, individuals may experience withdrawal symptoms that become life threatening. For example, alcohol withdrawal can cause delirium tremens, confusion, and cardiac symptoms. Without medical supervision to step in, these symptoms could potentially turn fatal.

Treatments

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Alcoholism is a pattern of alcohol use that involves continued drinking even when it causes problems. Alcoholism is also characterized by a physical dependence on alcohol, which causes the body to experience withdrawal symptoms when alcohol is not present. Due to this physical dependence, medically-supervised detox is often necessary to safely recover from alcoholism. Alcohol rehab in Georgia offers a three-step process of detox, rehab, and maintenance to help individuals recover from alcohol addiction.

A quality drug rehab in Georgia can help you overcome addiction. This environment is designed to help you address the complex issues contributing to drug dependence. The goal of treatment is to give you the tools you need to make a full recovery.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) is a structured way of helping those with major mental illnesses and/or substance abuse by bringing services directly to the patient in home. Instead of hospitalization or an outpatient program, staff members like social workers, psychiatrists, and counselors come directly to the patient’s house for treatment. ACT is used primarily for those with severe and persistent mental illness like schizophrenia or bipolar disorder, some of whom also contend with substance abuse. ACT can be short- or long-term (months to years), and provides the same multidisciplinary, 24/7 staffing of a psychiatric unit, but in the comfort of the patient's own home and/or community.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

While cognitive behavioral therapy in Georgia is unique for each person, this therapy follows a standard structure that has proven effective. Clients first learn about their substance use disorder, then learn and practice techniques such as coping, stress management, and resilience to change their thought and behavior patterns.

I wish I could give a “0” star. 1st off they have a “makeup rule system “ in place. In other words they make up rules and systems as they go. DIANE MULNER IS A HORRIBLE COUNSELOR. She Doesn’t LISTEN TO her patients and makes matters worse bc NOBODY WANTS TO ATTEND HER LAME “Group meetings”. So, since she’s “Unfortunately “ the 1st person to contact the doctors listens to her every word , which she’s a Liar and will make sure she makes you look bad for going through tough times in life. If you’re ready to be critically critiqued by folks .., Well GO IN TO 10 park place. This is the best place to feel less than as your Trying to be a better person in your life. lol. I am so glad that I don’t have to go there anymore. I’m now at a place where I’m NOT JUDGED BY “professional folks”. I’m actually LISTENED TO AND HEARD. I wouldn’t have given the “1” star rating if I didn’t have to .

Had a great experience with the friendly staff, clinicians, and their processes. Sure, the wait for screening and assessment may be longer than in concierge medicine (I.e., no wait because $$$) but it was more than reasonable in my experience. Most importantly, every person with whom I interacted was warm, friendly, and helpful.

It is approximately 8:11AM and can’t even reach anyone at the behavioral health center to reschedule an appointment that was made yet left unvisited the day of my appointment by the physician. I battle with social anxiety and struggle immensely sitting in the waiting room, as you’ve heard and/or experienced the horror stories of rude staff. I sat on my virtual call and waited patiently for a physician to join the call and waited for over 2 hours just to find out in the end that no one was going to attend despite getting an alert that my physician was running late and would be attending shortly. I tried calling while waiting for a physician and was placed on hold for over an hour… Just to find out that they were closed. You literally cannot make this up. I’m expected to show up virtually and/or physically to receive care and no matter which is being done it ends up being a waste of time. I’m saddened that myself and hundreds of individuals like myself that have a hard time already keeping the faith (and are trying their best to hold on) are experiencing the lack of care and compassion this system has to offer. Shame on those in charge running this unhinged systemic trap. UPDATE: At around 8:58AM (because the hold times increased immediately after calls began being taken which was around 8:30AM) I was finally able to get ahold of the front desk assistant. She was very patient and very attentive to my concerns mentioned above. She even went above and beyond to speak to her manager to help get someone assigned to my case and assured that she’d call me back today as soon as she had an answer. The way she handled me overall settled my spirit. I can only imagine what’s going on behind the scenes for those who do take their jobs seriously. GET THEM THE HELP THEY NEED SO THAT THEY CAN HELP US because it’s obvious at this point that this is bigger than them. The BOARD OF DIRECTORS need to do better.

Took my sister for a mental health screening. She sent us downtown. The court gave their address. I also saw her tell another mental health patient to come back. Where is the help?

asked for a simple SSRI, and apparently no one in their practice knows how to prescribe it. and the psychiatrist wanted me show my self harm scars from 4 years ago on camera as if it’s relevant to my situation right now. all that embarrassment just to have him shrug his shoulders at me and recommend medications that are contraindicated in my conditions, one of which i’ve already taken if he had read my patient notes accurately. he didn’t even know what drug class fluvoxamine was in, a patient shouldn’t be correcting you on your knowledge as a psychiatrist
