Accepted Insurance

Laurel Ridge Treatment Center works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
After completing some form of inpatient care, many clients transition or step down to an outpatient rehab, while some choose to transition from detox directly into outpatient care. High-intensity outpatient programming, including partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) is widely available for clients in early recovery, those leaving detox, and those at an elevated relapse risk. Clients in outpatient care generally engage in robust addiction counseling and recovery education, and some also receive medication assisted treatment (MAT).
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Rehab aftercare programs are based on a model of continuing care and the premise that recovery is a life-long process requiring ongoing client support. Many rehab aftercare services include outpatient care, but clients often continue to receive support after being discharged from formal treatment. Case managers and care teams typically collaborate with clients to design their long-term care plan, which may include peer coaching, career counseling, and 12 step program induction, among other services.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
A drug intervention in Texas may be necessary if your loved one is in denial about a substance use disorder. You can partner with intervention services to plan and execute an effective intervention that educates your loved one about addiction and encourages them to get the treatment they need. Many rehab centers offer intervention specialists who can facilitate the intervention and help with a seamless transition to inpatient rehab for treatment.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
Commonly known as "day treatment," a partial hospitalization program (PHP) offers intensive addiction treatment while allowing you to return home each day. It can serve as an alternative to inpatient hospitalization or as a step-down option. Depending on your needs, PHP treatment typically averages 90 days with a weekly requirement of 6-8 hours a day. PHP treatment offers a variety of therapeutic interventions such as individual counseling, group therapy, and psychoeducation. Oftentimes PHP treatment can be fully covered by insurance.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

During rehab in Texas, you'll deal with underlying issues that contribute to addiction. By addressing these challenges and learning healthy ways to cope with them, you'll develop strategies that help you live a drug-free lifestyle.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Treatment that takes a dialectical behavior therapy approach focuses on four strategies. Distress tolerance will help you accept and tolerate intense emotions. Emotional regulation will teach you to manage those emotions. Mindfulness will keep you in the present moment instead of regret or worry. Interpersonal effectiveness will teach you to manage your relationships.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Together with an experienced trauma therapist, you work on healing emotional wounds from traumatic experiences within a trauma therapy environment. Your therapist will help you process the experience of the trauma, which promotes emotional healing and improves your overall mental health.

Family and caregiver involvement is an integral component of the treatment program. The Laurel Ridge staff offers family therapy and aftercare management to encourage families to forward gains made during treatment to the home environment. Through the skills learned at Laurel Ridge, patients have the foundation for continued growth outside of our facility.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Creative arts therapy focuses on creative processes. You may engage in sculpting, dancing, improv, painting, or sketching. These creative outlets provide an opportunity to explore and express difficult emotions.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

To all the staff on M400 including Dr. Unzueta and ms Angela were absolutely AMAZING! I was seen for a week for SI and the process and activities they offer to keep you occupied during your healing process was fantastic! Highly recommend this facility❤️‍🩹! Although I will agree they need a new CEO. The poor staff was not treated fairly.

Do not recommend!! My brother has been there 6 days. No diagnosis. No answers after we have repeatedly left msgs with no one calling back. Said they’d give us info when they discharge him and not a moment sooner apparently. They don’t help patients get better and are no help to families. Absolutely never alllow someone you care about to be taken there! We have medical release to discuss medical stuff about him but they still give us zero information and are zero help to him. No progress. He is worse 6 days later than he was when he arrived

We took our daughter here last week because she was very depressed and thinking about ending her life. We were recomended here by her PHP center which is linked to Laurel Ridge. I should have know from the min we walked in there and they locked us in the waiting room that we should have left. We filled out all the paperwork and then we waited 8 hours when we were given the expected time of 2 hours. We hadnt eaten dinner because the PHP center made it sound so emergent that we take her ASAP. During the 8 hours i asked multiple times how much longer and i would get let me go check and then nothing. People woipd come in and out and avoid eye contact just so they didnt have to talk. There were children coming in with no parents and no staff checked on them they just sat there alone no water offered no snack or food they just sat there. It was really hard to see. They finally called our daughter to go back and 2 min later then brought her back out and said they dont know why so we wait another 2 hours with me asking whats going on. Finally someone tells me there was a issue on the unit they are taking care of before they take her back. Ok cool comunication is what i need if you dont give me that then im just sitting getting fustrated. We got her bags and she goes back and thays it we dont talk to her till like 2 pm the next day. She saw the therapist and she seemed nice. She said this is my number you can reach me any time by text or call that was a lie. After our meeting to review a safety plan i neber herd from her. My daughter was there 7 days and in the 7 days i asked to speak with the phchiatrist and her doctor about the meds they were giving her and no kne ever called me. My daughter was told she couldnt have all her clothes we had packed her and the guy taking her back saying that we over packed her like she was going away for the whole summer if she gone 7 day thats 7 pair of clothes 7 underwear a few bras they said she can have books so we packed a couple they said yes blankets then they never let her have it and never gave it back along with a few of clothes that never came back cause i guess they throw everyones clothes in a wash together . Then after i called they gave it to her. Same with her hygien products. When we called in to speak with our daughter all the staff but 1 lady were so rude. Im giving them 1 start only Cause nurse Destiny i think her name was so.sweet and kind. When we went to pick up my daughter Monday they sent her hime.on the same medication she went in with which they werent giving to her there. And none of the ones they actually did give her. But you better believe 1 hour after leaving they called me to discuss paying the bill lol what a joke. They arent in the buissness of actually helping children they just want money. The only posative my daughter got out of this was meeting people who knew what she was going thru and understood. DONT SEND YOUR KIDS HERE

Don't bring your child here. There are other places better. I've had one of my kids stay here twice. I can go on about the many issues I had with this place, but instead, I'll leave you one. They released my son back to me in active psychosis without take-home meds on Thanksgiving. Crazy thing is, on the discharge paperwork they put down that he was not in psychosis. But when I took him out to eat that day, he was still seeing and hearing things and was very paranoid. My son only lasted a few weeks at home after discharge because he started saying his grandpa was going to kill him, and before my son could retaliate against his grandfather, I quickly took him to a different facility, and they were shocked that he was released back to me in that condition. The next facility kept him for 30 days, got him stable, and got him into their outpatient program, and then transitioned him back home to me. Completely different experience. Before Dr. Watson released my son from Laurel Ridge, I had been requesting a phone call from him over and over again to voice my concerns that my son was still not stable. Dr., nurses, therapist, and staff all knew that my son was still not stable. But the doctor never called me and instead released my son on Thanksgiving with no take-home meds and a prescription that I could not fill since everything was closed that day. I highly suggest you never bring your child here if you care about them. Sure there are some nice people there, but it's really hit or miss with that place when it comes to who answers the phone from front desk to back unit. I got to speak to the doctor only one time when my son first got there, and he assured me that he would not be released until he was stable. I took his word for it, and I trusted him. After I asked for a second call, I was told that he told staff that he had already talked to me once and that another call wasn't needed. I continued asking for a callback up until the day he was released.

Trash. Do not care about their patients at all. Edit - our 14 year old was recently there for trying to commit suicide. We told them multiple times that it was not safe for her to come home, they ignored us and were only interested in when we were going to come pick her up. 6 days later she tried to commit suicide again. This place is a joke. They do not care about their patients. My ex husband and I begged them to help us and they said she just needs to learn to cope. Now here we are in the ER. DO NOT SEND SOMEONE YOU LOVE THERE

It was my first stay on Trinity as I’ve been to Guadalupe and Comal in the past. Trinity unit is amazing, Danny helped me get stabilized as I was having a very tough time and admitted myself into laurel Ridge. The staff on trinity is amazing, I’d love to give a shout out to Brandie, Nayelly, and Destiny. They made my stay more comfortable. Everytime I was sad, Brandie gave me a big hug and told me everything would be alright as long as I’m truthful with Danny. The only complaint I have is the temperature on the unit. It’s freezing and uncomfortable when you can’t have blankets in the day room. Overall my stay was amazing and I hope whoever is reading this review doesn’t hesitate to admit themselves into laurel ridge. Seek help before it gets really bad <3

I’m shocked at the disrespect. This place claims to help people. We were recommended by a friend for their 30day rehabilitation program. My bf was in alcohol detox after having him cut cold turkey for 12 hrs before they helped him. They sent him to the hospital which we are still here trying to get his levels back to normal. I called laurel ridge 10 mins ago to ask if they would be taking him back in after he was released. They stated no he was released because they couldn’t help him in house. Why would you put detox on your website if you can’t actually help with it. Not only that when I asked if he would be admitted to a room right away since he already filled out paperwork and completed an assessment they said no he would be a new patient again. I asked what is the good qualities between their rehab centers vs others in the area and the lady hung up the phone and refused to answer my calls after. I did not cuss or yell, I’m genuinely curious because this is the first time we have ever gone to a rehab center for him to get help. I sure hope you review the phone calls that are recorded and have a talk with your staff. These are people y’all are taking care of who are actually struggling between life and death.

This place saved my life. However, dr nau was extremely unprofessional, he did not believe what I was saying and misdiagnosed me several times putting me on several medications. He was later fired while I was in treatment. Other than him, my experience here was great! They guided me to the right places after treatment to be properly medicated and I can’t thank this staff enough. Shout out to Joe!
