my experience here was horrible, everyone is very rude, therapists are always leaving and there's a huge wait, and therapists are overworked so you don't even get the full 45 mins you're entitled to. Only 30 (if even! My therapist was always late and always let me out way earlier than she was supposed to! I remember one time we only spoke for like 10 minutes!) This is not good especially for children because they need to develop a connection before they feel comfortable enough to open up and they can't do that if their therapist is constantly leaving. Also as a teenager struggling who was struggling with my mental health, after my 3rd therapist left, I was on the wait list for somewhere between 3 to 6 months and I got a letter saying they tried to reach me (I had no calls from them, or emails) and I had a week to respond or they'd cancel my services. I immediately called the number and said I was interested in continuing (which is ridiculous because I never expressed that I wanted to pause or stop) and they said they already got rid of my information jn the system and it was too late (and this was the day the letter came, I called. It's ridiculous at that point because why would you send a letter if you already discarded a patient)

If I could give ZERO stars I would. This place is so unprofessional and unorganized. Staff is rude, director is rude and unprofessional and the Psychiatrist is also rude, belittling, and unprofessional. They truly do not know how to work with children. They shouldn't be able to be so unprofessional when they are supposed to be there to help people who need their services. Therapists continue to leave at alarming rates as well, which clearly says a lot about their work environment. Every couple of weeks they are calling to say a therapist no longer works there and they have to assign another one. How do you build a relationship with a therapist when they don't even stay long enough to do so? Especially, when working with kids.

I used to go there for about 1 year back in 2004 or so. The therapist I had was Bob. Bob helped me to get my first job and now I am in college trying to be a Psychotherapist, as he inspired me, and I would like to help others. I don't know about the other therapists, but, Bob was the best and he was very kind, patient and was never judgmental at all. I never interacted with anyone else there except the receptionist, who didn't really give me a hard time. Perhaps he left because he saw what other patients are complaining about. I don't know.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

This place is very discriminating all the staff have men problems and they take the own mental health and relationship problems out on the male patients. I was with this agency since moving out of an adult home in the Rockaways. The current staff in this agency across the board are all problematic and abuse their patients with more medicine not needed and forced to comply. I was recently discharged from this office for the simple reason that I was to high functioning for my diagnosis. Since My discharge I was told I can reach out for any reason but it was a lie I recently called back to speak to my former therapist to get a letter so I can purchase s support dog and the long term staff members literally discriminated me because she has her own mental health issues against men. I hope that entire staff and doctors and therapist include get hospitalized and given medicine for their verbal aggression towards me. I wish you all hell.

Horrible director Susan… REFUSES to accept my son..REFUSES to return my calls. I demand a reason for refusing therapy to my 6 year old. She had the intake coordinator refer him to Heartshare (which is a preschool) and YAI which has an insane wait..I have family that goes to this center and my other son received therapy here as well so I’m confused…

Dr. Sanchez made my little girl cry and he needs to be held accountable for the way he made her feel. He shouldn't be practicing anywhere on this earth and should retired or turn in his licensed to practice. He has no empathy, flat demeanor, no compassion, argumentative, judgemental, and just flat out insensitive. I was appalled at how he had no sense of therapeutic communication. He was not welcoming from the start of the appointment. Blaming my daughter on the reason for her being bullied because he was under the impression that because she likes sparkly head bands that she's a show off. No of course to him bullies don't need to be held accountable of course not because he's a bully himself. Nothing close to human. I spoke to the director but I couldn't quite read her either and I wouldn't be surprise if nothing is done. Don't take your loved ones to this office. Im honestly disgusted.. In response to "strive for excellence" I find that extremely hard to believe because if you did he wouldn't even have the audacity. This was our first appointment. Why would I waste my time following up with a place I will have no more contact with. As a nurse I worked with Catholic Charities and I see how clients are treated and this was in far Rockaway a low income crime ridden area. There is a stigma to how people are treated and at the end of the day they are still humans. Whether they are rich poor delinquents it shouldn't matter. That man judge us from the start of the appointment. It was a competition for him. I mention my daughter goes to a catholic school he had to mention that he went to one too. His spirit is not fit for serving all people. And if many people see this I did my job as a mom and as a nurse because I would never want for any one's little girl to experience how he broke my child down and mace her cry when seeking therapy is suppose to help not destroy. No thanks.

Worst customer service ever!!!! Tried calling so many times to make my son an appt, left messages, no help from anyone there!! Especially this Rosa person. Worst, worst, worst!! When the patient has to wait too long just to get an appt it says something about that facility. I waited and tried for more than 3 weeks now and still waiting...but now I don't even want to bother anymore with this place!!!😡🤬🤬🤬
