About New Vision – Atmore Community Hospital – Closed

Atmore Community Hospital is located in Atmore, Alabama. This is a quiet, historic community about an hour’s drive from Mobile and close to the Florida and Alabama border. For nearly 60 years, Atmore has provided acute care to the Atmore community and surrounding communities. Their New Vision drug and alcohol detox program was available but is now closed.

Acute Care With a Detox and Stabilization Program

If you were experiencing a crisis relating to withdrawal from alcohol or other addictive substances, Atmore provided an inpatient detoxification program to help you achieve stabilization. It lasted about three to five days and could get you back on track to recovery. Your detox treatment was supported under medical supervision by a team of doctors and nursing personnel.

When you first arrived, you would be pre-screened and assessed for your level of crisis care. Following assessment, if you needed detoxification, you were then admitted into the program and would undergo supervised medical stabilization.

Medical professionals would assist you, prior to your discharge, with planning for post-treatment care. This may have included providing you with additional treatment resources or rehabilitation referrals, depending on your needs.

Open to Adults Struggling with Alcohol or Drug Dependency Issues

They accepted any adult with alcohol or drug dependencies at this facility. They also accepted those with a high tolerance for mood-altering chemicals, a history of withdrawal symptoms, those with serious medical conditions, and clients who were a threat to themselves or others while under the influence.

Counseling and Psychiatric Services Available Through Outside Program Referrals

It is important to be aware that Atmore did not provide counseling or psychiatric services in-house. However, if you required continued psychiatric care following your detoxification, they were happy to assist you with referrals to another program.

Atmore is located in a suburban community of Alabama, along the Pine Barren Creek and surrounded by dense forests and residential homes. There are many nearby landmarks and attractions to visit during your care. Some of the featured parks include Atmore Heritage Park, Houston Avery Park, and Williams Station Day Park.

I can not express how grateful and impressed I am with the care I received in the ER at Atmore Community Hospital. This morning (12/7/2024) I was brought to Atmore Community Hospital ER by my friend after waking up in the early morning hours with severe abdominal pain and vomiting blood. Due to my extensive medical history I knew I needed immediate medical attention. As an ER Nurse with 21 years experience in level one trauma centers to smaller community hospital, the care and level of skills and competencies was beyond anything I could have imagined! This facility and team truly made me feel like I could trust them with my life, which is exactly the scenario I was in this morning. I can not say enough about how grateful I am to Atmore Community Hospital! This is the exactly the kind of facility I not only trust my care with, but moreover a facility I would be honored to work for! However due to the seriousness of my illness, Atmore ER staff had to transfer me to USA Medical Center in Mobile for higher level of care and services not available at Atmore. Every moment I spent in the ER at Atmore Community Hospital I continuously monitored, pain and nausea levels were assessed and treated!!! Again words can not express how thankful I am to the Emergency Department staff at Atmore Community Hospital! A VERY SPECIAL AND PERSONAL THANK YOU TO: Dr. O-Gorman MD (ER Attending Physician) Whitney BSN-RN (ER Nurse) Jenna BSN-RN (ER Nurse) Again my sincerest Thanks, Jeremy Rasler NA-C,CCT-C,CMT-C,CRAT-C,CVT,CES-A,CES-P

I couldn't help but to come here to brag on Cassey Surls, in radiology. I had to go in for an ultrasound because I was in so much pain. Scared of what they'd find, my anxiety and heart rate was through the roof. She was so reassuring and patient with me. She calmed my worries and helped me through what should have a been, but wasn't for me, a simple process. Such a sweet person with a soul full of hospitality and love. Thank you for being you!💜

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.

Treatments

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

I just called to pay a bill for my husband using the number on the bill. At the beginning of the call it offered for me to press 1 for the automated system and 2 for a person, I prefer to go through a person so I chose that option. It took 20 minutes of being on and off hold for the person to let me know that I still had to use the automated system. This phone system seems to provide inaccurate options and wasted a lot of my time today. And this is the nice review. Still deciding if I should leave one based on my experiences with “care” here.
