About New Vision – Atmore Community Hospital – Closed

Atmore Community Hospital is located in Atmore, Alabama. This is a quiet, historic community about an hour’s drive from Mobile and close to the Florida and Alabama border. For nearly 60 years, Atmore has provided acute care to the Atmore community and surrounding communities. Their New Vision drug and alcohol detox program was available but is now closed.

Acute Care With a Detox and Stabilization Program

If you were experiencing a crisis relating to withdrawal from alcohol or other addictive substances, Atmore provided an inpatient detoxification program to help you achieve stabilization. It lasted about three to five days and could get you back on track to recovery. Your detox treatment was supported under medical supervision by a team of doctors and nursing personnel.

When you first arrived, you would be pre-screened and assessed for your level of crisis care. Following assessment, if you needed detoxification, you were then admitted into the program and would undergo supervised medical stabilization.

Medical professionals would assist you, prior to your discharge, with planning for post-treatment care. This may have included providing you with additional treatment resources or rehabilitation referrals, depending on your needs.

Open to Adults Struggling with Alcohol or Drug Dependency Issues

They accepted any adult with alcohol or drug dependencies at this facility. They also accepted those with a high tolerance for mood-altering chemicals, a history of withdrawal symptoms, those with serious medical conditions, and clients who were a threat to themselves or others while under the influence.

Counseling and Psychiatric Services Available Through Outside Program Referrals

It is important to be aware that Atmore did not provide counseling or psychiatric services in-house. However, if you required continued psychiatric care following your detoxification, they were happy to assist you with referrals to another program.

Atmore is located in a suburban community of Alabama, along the Pine Barren Creek and surrounded by dense forests and residential homes. There are many nearby landmarks and attractions to visit during your care. Some of the featured parks include Atmore Heritage Park, Houston Avery Park, and Williams Station Day Park.

Zero care Zero cleanliness I have a strong cough. They didn't do all the tests. It took me 6 hours. After that, they said Go to the pharmacy and take any medicine. There's nothing we can do for you." The doctor came and checked my heart rate and left. He didn't ask me anything. The hospital is bad. I'd rather go to Mobil. There's better care.

Very dirty and extremely disgusting not clean at all. Watched a person who was very sick sit on a bed drooling all over the place basically leaving all body fluids in the bed, get meds and then moved somewhere else or sent home. Then they put a new person on the same bed without changing the bedding or whipping anything down, i was completely horrified. And as for our care the doctor did not know what they were talking about and made up some BS Diagnosis, thank God one of the newest nurse that wasn't from here did not agree with it and called a different doctor who contacted a specialist to help. This hospital and staff have no care for their patients and only cares about who sleeping with who at the nurse station, or how high they got over the weekend and when the next helicopter is coming in so they don't have to care for the patient anymore. Someone please close this place down it's got to be breaking all kinds of heath code laws. And when you do make a complaint with them they blame it on being short staffed

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.

Treatments

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.
