I would highly recommend Rusk, & already have. From housekeeping, rehab therapists, nurses, nurse techs, Dr's, caseworkers, people who delivered meals, my bad experience from my fall & surgery turned into a wonderful experience. So grateful for all those who cared for me. A number of them went "above & beyond"!! One nurse tech, (Heather) offered to stay on her own time & help with my shower. I felt everyone cared about me. Noah was beyond kind! An exceptional nurse, & person. A great experience!! Kudos to the whole staff, including the CEO, who came to my room & visited. I wanted to add, I was there only 6 days & thanks to my wonderful care, @ 89 I am staying alone after coming home April 1. Only had my daughter, an RN here two nights. Am doing great with my church family bringing meals. Able to get around easily w/ walker &minimal pain. Not bad for a broken pelvis in 2 places & waiting 4 days for surgery!

Great! Couldn t have asked for a better experience. Loved the therapists, loved the nurses, loved Dr. Jones and Dr. Eisenmann. The food was very good , not like hospital food at all. The ladies at front desk were always nice. The staff at the cafeteria were nice. I have no complaints.

Accepted Insurance

Rusk Rehabilitation Hospital works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient rehab enables clients to continue to work, attend school, or reside at home while undergoing treatment, including addiction counseling and recovery-focused life skills training. Evening, night, and weekend sessions are available at many facilities to ensure continuous access to care on the client's schedule. Many centers also offer ancillary services, such as career coaching and peer mentoring, to promote clients' sustained recovery and community integration. Higher-level outpatient treatment, including intensive outpatient (IOP) care, is also widely available.
inpatient iconInpatient
Inpatient rehabs provide a safe, supportive environment for clients to focus on their recovery secure from outside distractions, stressors, and triggers. Clients receive housing, meals, and intensive clinical supervision. They also engage in extensive addiction counseling, often including group and family therapy. Many programs prioritize recovery-focused life skills training to support clients' reintegration into their home, workplace, school, and community. Evidence-based holistic therapies, such as yoga, acupuncture, meditation, hypnotherapy, or animal therapy, may also be provided.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive outpatient programs provide an intermediate level of care, often supporting clients' transition from inpatient rehab to outpatient treatment. Most IOP programs require a minimum of nine therapeutic hours weekly, but clients may receive up to 20 hours of care, with the intensity and frequency of care declining as clients grow stronger in their sobriety. Intensive outpatient treatment generally combines addiction counseling, recovery education, holistic therapies, and, for some, medication assisted treatment (MAT).
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
Due to the potential for severe withdrawal symptoms, it is important to detox in a facility with 24-hour clinical care in Missouri. Most people experience some form of withdrawal symptoms, and this setting offers medical professionals who are on site 24/7 to provide any necessary treatment. This supervision makes the detox process safer and less painful and improves the likelihood of a successful recovery.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Missouri usually involves several phases: detox, rehab, and aftercare. The rehab phase may include a combination of inpatient and outpatient treatments, as the individual moves through a continuum of care on their recovery journey.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Peer support within a group therapy session in Missouri allows you to interact with your peers who are also struggling with drug addiction. You can share your stories and learn how to express your emotions openly in a non judgmental setting. These strategies help to reduce your feelings of isolation which are often associated with addiction.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Within a trauma therapy environment, you have a structured approach to healing from past traumatic events that you witnessed or experienced. You are guided to understand your response and then develop healthier coping skills and mechanisms that Foster greater empowerment and recovery.

Couples therapy in Missouri deals with the problems each partner has within themselves and with each other. Sessions may be held jointly and others individually to address these issues and help each partner learn how to manage challenges in healthy ways.

Family therapy sessions help individual family members in Missouri learn to improve their communication skills and understand how the family dynamic is both affected by addiction and affects their loved one's addiction. Therapists work with individual members to identify and modify negative behaviors which helps create a more supportive home environment.

Life skills give you the ability to maintain healthy relationships, complete day to day tasks, and cope with challenges. Because substance use disorder often diminishes these skills, rehab in Missouri includes integrated life skills training to rebuild and reinforce these abilities.

Addiction often leads to severe health issues, including malnutrition. While focusing on the consumption of substances, you don't get the vitamins your body needs. During nutrition therapy in Missouri, you'll work with a doctor and nutritionist to address the health concerns caused by poor nutrition and learn how to develop healthier eating habits for recovery.

Recreational therapy helps you overcome addiction by engaging in activities that promote physical fitness and mental health. These activities can include team sports, art, and outdoor adventures, Each of which helps reduce your stress level, improves mood, and develops new hobbies. These are crucial to support your long term journey to sobriety.

I want yo give a shout out to the nurse supervisor who said my husband vitals were good and that he isn't sick but if it made me feel better I could send him to the hospital and they would just send him back. News flash u shouldn't judge a book by its cover ,6 days later , we are still in here and he had to have emergency surgery when I brought him to the ER. And he was very sick. So you may want to rethink the way you think. You also shouldn't of told a family member what you said but we all heard the same thing. I wouldn't recommend anyone that I love and care about to Rusk , ever!! If you don't have anyone to advocate for you , don't go here you may die!! My husband didn't hardly eat while he was there for 9 days and they seem to not care. Now he is in the hospital on TPN which is a nutritional bag going straight into his IV. My family said I should call the supervisor at Rusk everyday to remind her that he is still in the hospital but I decided to write it in a review so anyone who is considering going here please think twice!!! The first picture is when he was first brought in to the ER and remember the house supervisor of Rusk told us he was stable and fine just because his blood pressure was good his oxygen was good. But in reality he wasn't good!!!! The last picture is him today, Friday, May 2nd. 6 days after he was admitted to the hospital from Rusk, and remember the house supervisor said he was stable and fine and they will send him back there. I wouldn't ever step one foot in there ever ever again!! Like I said the supervisor may want to rethink the way she thinks and maybe just maybe u may save lives. If this post even helps 1 person then I did my job!! Here we are on May8, 2025 and my husband is still in the hospital. The supervisor that said told me that he is OK but if it makes u feel better u can send him to the ER but he will be right back. We'll here we are 11 days later and he is still in the hospital. The doctor said he was very sick. So again I think u need to rethink the way u think or maybe get more educated, experienced something other than going by a person's vital signs. He still probably has at least another week in here. Not sick my ass!! You all are not a hospital and it showed , your a rehab and you all don't know shit about medical!!!!!!!! If you can't advocate for your loved ones I would rethink of sending them here!!!!!!!!!!!!! 05/10/2025 update: my husband is still in the hospital ,he is slowly but surly getting a little better each day. Im going to say it again. The nursing supervisor needs to rethink how she thinks. Just because a person vitals are stable doesn't mean the patient is ,my husband is a proven fact!! He was very very very sick and had i listen to you I do believe we would of had a totally different outcome. Im glad I went with my gut because my gut is smarter than your thought!!! I will continue posting an update until the day my husband is finally released to go home. Today is May22nd and my husband is still in the hospital has never been released yet almost 1 month ago i.was told he was fine but obviously he isn't. Not impressed at all with Rusk!!!!!! Especially not impressed with the nursing supervisor!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Today is June 3 and my husband finally gets to go home from the hospital. He has been in there ever since the day we left Rusk to go to the ER. So to the nursing supervisor who said nothing is wrong with my husband and that it is OK to go to ER if it makes me feel better. Then u said they will just send him back. How did that work out ?? He has been in the hospital this whole time. I suggest u start listening to family more. We r the ones that know our loved ones. I knew he was very sick when we sent him out regardless of his great vitals. If you have no one to advocate for your loved ones I'd rethink about sending them here!!!!!

Rusk Rehabilitation is a first rate place. My PT Miranda was the best possible physical therapist very professional and caring. Tracy was my occupational therapist and was top notch and caring as well. Can't imagine having a better place for Rehabilitation . The second week that I was there every meal for the entire week had something missing or incorrect but the food itself was excellent This means the nursing staff and assistants are spending a serious amount of time having to chasing down food items . The nurses and assistants were outstanding as well . Rusk is set up to handle all manner of injury.👍👍👍👍👍

If I could leave a negative star, I would. My dad went in and made ZERO progress. My family had high hopes, but instead he left with a UTI infection and was worse off than when he went in. The staff was completely indifferent and lacked compassion and motivation. Completely disappointed!!!!

Would not take anyone here for rehab!! My husband was there for 10 days and came out of there in worse shape than when he went in! They lost his clothes and returned him home in men’s swim trunks with used and filthy janitors uniform! Size XXL he is 32 waist! Two dirty T shirts pair of denim shorts, two pairs of oversized sweat pants! In all none of his original clothes were returned still trying to get them returned but phone calls are not returned! I have photos of these clothes in their original condition! No way would I take anyone there!

My time at Rusk was top notch the people I worked with were exceptional. Casey and Grovene could not have been better. They led me to learn what is nessasary to live with my amputation and heal it to move to a prosthetic. The nurses bent over backwards to meet my needs Ruth and Karen were exceptional and Chase was always so upbeat and excellent in taking care of me. The whole team make your stay easy to be there. I meet no one who wasn't great. I almost look forward to come back when I get my prosthetic.
