About St. Elizabeth Healthcare

St. Elizabeth Healthcare Edgewood Hospital is a CARF accredited general medical hospital situated on Medical Village Drive in Edgewood, Kentucky. They’re one of several facilities under the St. Elizabeth Healthcare system providing compassionate care for communities across Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati. They offer a broad range of medical services such as emergency care, surgical procedures and specialized treatments.

They can also provide integrated addiction recovery services for patients dealing with substance use disorders or related conditions. The facility is accessible via Interstate 275, which has direct route access to nearby Cincinnati and Covington. They all serve patients from Florence via the Interstate 75 corridor. TANK bus routes serve this location and link to Florence and Covington. The facility is right within the Medical Village Campus. This allows you to access other services as necessary for general wellbeing.

Medication-Supported Addiction Recovery

St. Elizabeth Healthcare Edgewood Hospital offers personalized and trauma-informed substance use care for individuals and families struggling with unhealthy alcohol/drug dependency. Their staff are uniquely trained and grounded in clinical best practices that guarantee the best recovery outcomes. They also partner with agencies to break barriers that may impede your pathway to recovery. They primarily offer medication assisted treatment or MAT for opioid use disorder. This technique uses meds approved by the FDA alongside counseling to help you achieve lasting abstinence.

They may offer a prescription of Suboxone, Sublocade or Vivitrol depending on your personalized care. These meds curb cravings and eliminate painful withdrawal symptoms when taken as prescribed. You’ll then attend group and individual therapy to address underlying psychological issues and build strong coping skills to prevent relapse.

Peer support specialists can provide guidance, encouragement and firsthand insight from their own recovery experiences. They can link you to self-help groups or meetings like MAT groups to help you build strong support networks for lasting healing. Case managers provide community-based support and linkage. They can help you access transitional housing options, employment opportunities and much more. They also assist with budgeting, insurance and transportation.

The broader recovery services here also include tailored career planning and employment readiness training via a specialized program called Lift Up project. This program helps you acquire life skills and educational experience needed to enhance your employability through partnership with the Life Learning Center or KY Career Center. They also take care of challenges like legal problems that may hinder your employability. The goal is to help you achieve your full potential as a productive community member.

Support for Pregnant and Postpartum Women in Recovery

St. Elizabeth Healthcare also supports pregnant women and new mothers in recovery via the Baby Steps Program. Their trained nurses and peer experts can help you find suitable treatment via this program. This may include an inpatient program to begin MAT for those over 24 weeks pregnant. They can link you to 12-step meetings for pregnant and parenting women in MAT.

They can also help you establish or continue OB care and provide educational support focusing on the risk of withdrawal to newborns alongside neonatal abstinence syndrome. It’s all about supporting you and your family as you navigate childbirth and recovery. St. Elizabeth Healthcare Edgewood Hospital can also provide crisis intervention as part of its emergency care services for people experiencing mental health and substance use crises. This focuses on helping you stabilize, assessing your needs and providing ongoing treatment.

Had the nurse try to steal my pain medication. As they was bringing and pain medicine, blood started to gush from my head. They set the medication down. After they got the problems taken care of I asked the nurse for my medication and she told me I took it. When I asked her if she could look to make sure because I didn't remember taking it she looked inside the cup and told me yes it was gone she saw me swallow it. I wasn't supposed to get out of bed because of my head injury. But of course the doctor or nurse was supposed to come back into my room. And they just left me lay there. So I decided to get up and go over and call for the doctor. While I was up I decided to look into the cup. The second I did there was the pill. When I called her out on it about stealing my medicine she told me to hold on. 5 minutes later I found out I was being discharged. 20 minutes prior to that it was an emergency and she ran out to get help. All of a sudden her getting caught stealing my meds the emergency was over

This place is a joke. They wouldn't allow my kids to see their grandpa who is super sick, but allowed 4 other adults with smaller kids pass walk right on by. This place definitely has double standards and has went downhill.

Ive had 3 babies here going on my 4th baby. My doctor and nurses during labor and delivery are amazing. The problem is triage! I get they are understaffed but that isn't an excuse for bad beside manners. They make you feel like the reason you're coming in is stupid. Ive had some awful comments stating they are only worried about placenta abruption if you're in a car wreck not falling down the steps. When I was leaving I over heard a nurse speaking about me saying "let me guess she's fine". It's just like they don't care! Even though my doctor is usually the one who wants me to come in and be checked. I avoid coming to triage as much as possible because honestly I leave upset every time with how they treat you. Also, they use a sister midwife instead of an actual doctor in triage and that is just wild to me.

Accepted Insurance

St. Elizabeth Healthcare works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

Treatments

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

I went into labor and delivery triage. My doctor said my concerns were valid as I was having some spotting that day along with irregular contractions and a lot of pain. They told me nothing was wrong without running a single test. They offered me muscle relaxers without muscle being a problem and told me if I wanted any testing I had to come up with my own diagnosis because they saw no reason so even do basic blood work and make sure nothing was going on. It’s too late in my pregnancy to switch doctors so I can go to a different hospital or I would 100% be switching.

This hospital group is terrible. Scheduling procedures, pre-testing, communication and coordination, and care are seriously lacking. My SO was at the Lwbg. location for 8 days without a bowel movement, in spite of the fact that I had brought it to the nurses attention at 5 days. The scheduling of surgery for two aneurysms at the Edgewood location has been a nightmare.

I was told I had a stroke about a month ago at good sam hospital where I spent 2 days in the icu. I have since had some minor complications. I was taken to st e last week after passing out and temporarily having difficulty with speech. I admit that day I had overdone it and was also slightly dehydrated. I was tested like a mental patient from the moment the ambulance brought me into the ER. The doctor came in with an attitude right off the bat and I only remember him saying " this is psych there's nothing wrong with him" and then he asked me what was going on. And like I said at the time I was not able to get words out. But he was being combative and said "you can speak I can promise you that you can speak" I became agitated and started removing wires. But my girlfriend came and asked that I be taken seriously. He at first was refusing to do tests except a basic CT. After my girlfriend nicely asked that he does his job as a professional. He finally did. They decided to keep me there for nearly 12 hours in the er where I had no water or food or anything. Nobody was telling me anything until the next day where I was able to speak. I had asked what was going on and if I was able to leave..neuro never even came in to see me. "They were comfortable with releasing me" I'd probably still be there waiting if I hadn't asked what the deal was. Some of of the staff was amazing and even looked shocked at the doctors treatment of me. I'd rather die than ever go back to this cesspool of a hospital. Very unprofessional and lacking empathy. I don't appreciate being told I did not have a stroke when it literally says on mychart that I did but the doctor kept arguing with my girlfriend. If you can avoid it.. don't go here

We were at the ER Saturday evening. As soon as the nurse got my toddler and I situated in the bathroom for a urine sample, someone knocked on the door ONCE and barged in and told me “maybe I should lock the door” then proceeded to go over to the nurses station and continue to bad mouth and talk about. Little did she know my partner was in the room waiting on us and heard everything she said. Her name is “dezi” not sure if she was working the ER floor that night. But she has a horrible attitude and zero bed side manner and was extremely unprofessional. She also needs to be aware of her surroundings before she opens her mouth. My daughter and I didn’t even have a moment to get her situated on the toilet before Miss Dezi came barging in. This place is filled with rude nurses in the ER quite frankly. But never had an experience like that.

The Cancer center is top notch and brand new. They have free valet parking, and private rooms for your Chemo infusion. Christ Hospital has 6$ parking, and communal room for treatment.

My mom came here a week or so ago by ambulance. She’s immunocompromised with pneumonia at the moment and was having a really hard time breathing, coughing like crazy, and was super dizzy. We don’t have a car and don’t have the money to pay for the uber there and back so we took the ambulance and they grilled her about why she’d call 911 instead of getting a ride.. being super condescending which is bs. And they didn’t admit her even though her doctor said they should’ve. She came back today since it wasn’t getting any better after 3 weeks of suffering and she spent ALL day waiting in the ER. People who had JUST arrived were getting called before her. They only did an EKG (which came back worrisome), as well as SUPER high blood pressure and high resting heart rate in addition to the pneumonia symptoms. Yet she sat there for 6 HOURS! Without being seen or being given any medication for her symptoms. Had to just uber home because she was tired and in so much pain and couldn’t sit there waiting all night when she could be resting. I understand they’re full lately but that waiting time is absurd. They should be paying for transportation to another hospital if they can’t do their job in a reasonable amount of time. Her money spent on the uber there might as well have been thrown in the trash. Try to prioritize CARING for patients instead of making them feel guilty for the way they arrived to the hospital smh.

This is the best hospital, in every aspect, that I have ever experienced: the staff, the professionalism, the efficiency, the facility. I was admitted for TIA evaluation. Every single staff member was beyond accommodating, just brilliant in attitude. Zero complaints.
