About Woodhaven Residential Treatment Center

Woodhaven Residential Treatment Center offers inpatient addiction treatment for adults in Dayton, Ohio. Their residential program specializes in detox and withdrawal management, but it also includes case management where applicable, crisis intervention services and secure sober housing. If you need a different level of care, Woodhaven also offers a partial hospitalization program (PHP, an intensive outpatient program (IOP) and a regular outpatient program.

The program lasts for as long as you need and ends when you’re medically cleared from withdrawal management. After you’ve been in the program for 30 days, your family and loved ones are allowed to visit you during designated visiting hours.

During your stay at Woodhaven, you’ll partake in individual and group therapy sessions. Individual therapy sessions allow you to work through personal issues contributing to substance misuse, develop healthy coping mechanisms and build habits and thought patterns which support long term sobriety. Group therapy sessions create a supportive and understanding environment where you can share your experience with others going through a similar journey. Woodhaven runs different types of group sessions, including skill building groups, psychoeducational groups and process groups. Each type of meeting focuses on a different aspect of addiction and sobriety, giving you a well rounded healing experience.

For many people facing addiction, staying sober is just as challenging as getting sober in the first place. To help you prevent relapse, Woodhaven offers Vivitrol injections. Vivitrol works by blocking the effects of illicit substances and reducing cravings. This makes it easier to stay in recovery comfortably. They also provide extensive aftercare planning services to ensure you continue to feel supported and stable after your treatment ends.

I went to Woodhaven twice in 2019, the first time I left because I had it all figured out (most of us think we do but we don't). I ended up using 5 hours after I had left (what about that plan I had lol), went on a run that almost cost me my life a few times, distanced me further from my family and gained a lot more legal problems. My ideas, self-will and diseased illusions brought me to a point of complete resignation. I came back in April of 2019 and surrendered. My mind was closed, ears sealed up and a hardened heart but the staff didn't let me off that easy. If it wasn't for having my thinking and perceptions challenged, I would have never learned what it meant to be open-minded, then, becoming teachable. I was taught about life and everything in it being a process by a CDCA named Tim B. Of course me being self-centered and demanding, I wanted those processes to work on my time, on demand to satisfy my self-centered addict nature. My hatred for delayed satisfaction was incredible. However, it was my constant demand for satisfaction that almost got myself killed multiple times and I needed to be reminded of that when the opportunity was presented. I had to learn to give up what control I though I had and surrender to whatever process that was given to me for the day. Not just the staff but the brotherhood I was surrounded by everyday will always be a big part of the memories I have of being a client at Woodhaven. The comradery was just as important to me then the therapeutic relationships. Getting up everyday, going to group and just doing what was expected I think all of us can say for the time was what we wanted to do. It was what we needed. Realistic expectations and structure. There is no Golden Corral at Woodhaven (you will get what you need) and at times some processes can be slow, grocery lines can take longer and be more frustrating. Things do work themselves out. I think most of us alumni would agree there is something magical that happens when the intent to recover on purpose is matched with unwavering dedication to do something different. Not much really mattered when we just knew, it was going to be ok, maybe just not when we wanted it to be (back to that delayed satisfaction part again lol). Not to dull the reader for this is getting long but I will end with a few important points.1). I am coming up on 6 years of long-term recovery and can only attribute it to having Woodhaven to help start my journey, the Narcotics Anonymous program which was introduced to me in Woodhaven and always, a Higher Power working in my life.2). My dog tag and my Woodhaven certificate are the most cherished things I have ever earned because it reminds me of the growing up I had to do.3). The greatest incentive to long-term recovery and working a daily program of recovery is that, taking life one day at a time, I will never have to go back to treatment again as long as I don't use.4). My son goes to school today with a Woodhaven hat on and says his dad is in recovery not having to worry about if I am coming home or if he is going to be in foster care again.Thank you for letting me share.

Kayla Malone was my Substance abuse counselor at woodhaven rehab facility. I voluntarily admitted myself there. She was one of my, part time, PHP group counselor. Upon having my friendship end witha client, in which was a girl Kayla has personally counseled on the detox side before getting her new position on the PHP side, she diagnosed me without prompt or without me asking and began to diagnose me in front of a group while we re having therapy about narcissism in the form Of videos on YouTube, that I was displaying narcissistic tendencies. I didn t ask. Just before this, after being asked by the client, I told the client, and Kayla I would rather not have this conversation as the client asked me what my problem was because I was avoiding her and no longer allowing her to bully me. The client had court that day and I didn t wanna bring up something small when she was possibly going away and it wasn t worth my time, yet Kayla decided to( she had undeniable biased towards this client due to one on one interactions, and me and Kayla had barely any interaction to this point other than as a group and most the time she just played videos to kill time it see We watched bob marley one day. Every time we had Kayla generally it was a movie and ones we moved around her office for her)Kayla proceeds to diagnose me in front of a room of people, knowing I had suffered from abuse from a toxic ex that had those similar tendencies. Suggesting I m projecting that and using that as why I m having an issue when I never started the argument and Kayla was the one who said we should all discuss this as a grip and proceeded to take our personal matter into her own hands and make it a group discussion.I went to rehab to get better and woodhaven in general isn t training nurses/ or doesn t have seizure medication. While I was there people seized out and a nurse just held them. I went rehab and left my kids and sold my home to make sure I was properly detoxing and seeing this happen meant I did that all for nothing. I could have detoxed just as safe at my home. They pump people up with Valium and sleep meds and make it seem you have to take it. I was told after getting there and switching my meds from bivalve to strattera to comply with the facilities rules (I was an alcoholic) I HAD to take my strattera even if I had this horrible reaction to it like I did the day before it madeMe feel like I was on drugs, speedy. So I had to tell the nurse they can kick me out but I m not taking those meds. It was the first day there I switched to that med before I went in.I went to rehab by choice and not for legal reasons. I was already detoxed when I arrived and they told me I would be put outside if I chose to leave. With none of my things and basically felt like I was imprisoned there because the staff was very very mentally abusive. They pick favorites and pump people full of meds. They do no give anytime outside and have us smoking in a room the size of 3-4 closets. This facility is also having people stay in php longer than needed to collect money from Medicaid I told them I was already set up with a sober living. I didn t need the counselors to takeWeeks to see me to help me figure it out php counselor Mrs.ryan. Laughed and said that s not how this works and was going to keepMe for 2 more weeks even though Joe Jenkins from life changing was ready to come get me same day. They would not allow me to graduate so I left on my own. They. are taking advantage of Medicaid, health insurance, vulnerable people coming off drugs and alcohol. I am a year sober thanks to my sober living. But I had to speak up about the things going on at woodhaven residential services. People are dying there. People hang themselves that s why staff said we could not have alarm clocks with cords. This facility is not doing what they are charging health insurance for and I bet if you look into this you find a lot of fraud and theft from the clients. Some people don t get their phones or their purse/ ID and leave much worse than they came.

My boyfriend went here on Monday a week ago. I've only heard from him one time and that was the day he checked in he called and told me that he checked himself in Woodhaven. I've called and called but I never get a return call. I don't think they're giving him the messages I've been leaving or the other ones that they say they'll give him about returning calls because I'm still waiting on a call. If family and friends are important in this process then why isn't he calling or why haven't I received a return call.

Accepted Insurance

Woodhaven Residential Treatment Center works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive outpatient programs (IOP) are designed for clients who need frequent, high-level care but do not require, or choose to forgo, inpatient treatment. Most intensive outpatient rehabs offer a minimum of nine hours of treatment weekly, though clients may receive up to 20 hours of care as needed. These programs typically combine various treatment modalities, including individual, group, and family counseling, medication assisted treatment (MAT), addiction and recovery education, and evidence-based complementary therapies, such as acupuncture and massage.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
Intervention services help family members prepare for a drug intervention in Ohio. During an intervention, family members typically read letters they have prepared that explain how the individual's substance abuse has affected their lives and relationships. Each family member also explains what they will do if the individual does not agree to get treatment. An intervention specialist offers support to guide this discussion and makes appropriate treatment recommendations.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
Designed for individuals with moderate to severe addictions, a partial hospitalization program (PHP) provides a more intensive form of outpatient therapy. PHP treatment can serve as an alternative to inpatient hospitalization or as a step-down option after being discharged from a hospital or residential program. A partial hospitalization program typically requires a minimum of 20 hours weekly for an average of 90 days. Depending on your care plan, PHPs can include relapse prevention, medication management, and behavioral therapy services.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Ohio provides comprehensive treatment to address the physical and psychological needs of those struggling with substance use disorders. This may involve inpatient and/or outpatient care.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Woodhaven has no more than 12 clients in any group which helps with fostering a feeling of closeness within the group. During groups, clients will work on exploring how alcohol and other drug problems have impacted all major areas of their lives, including their relationships with others. An examination of alternative solutions to drug and alcohol use will be discussed during relapse prevention groups. Some groups will be educational with the use of evidence based curriculum and others will be process groups where emotions and thought provoking conversations are used to assist clients turn their thoughts to recovery based ideas.

Each week that a client is at Woodhaven they will receive one-on-one, hour long counseling sessions with their counselor. During this time, clients are able to discuss life problems that have led them to this point in their lives and to receive guidance in addressing them.

Woodhaven was a great experience. I have been in other treatment centers, but this was definitely the nicest one by far. The food was ok, the only complaint I heard was when people wanted more. I didnt go there for food, I didnt go there for tv or phone calls. I went there ... Read More

I just wanted to express the gratitude I have for this company. They are so understanding and accommodating. The employees here truly care about their clients and employees. While having a broken foot they were more than understanding and gave me accommodations to ensure proper healing. The people at the highest levels truly try to think outside the box to make the stay for the clients the best to their ability. Woodhaven will forever hold a slot on my gratitude list❤️ Thank you.

I was a client here in 2023. I would not be alive if I had not come here at that time. They provided everything I needed then, and helped me secure sober living after I left the program. My life was hopeless and lonely then. Now, I have friends, both in and out of the AA community, a full-time job at Woodhaven, and a future in the field I went to school for back in 2012. This program works if you commit to sobriety. When I first entered, I was ambivalent about permanent sobriety and entered mainly out of desperation. My commitment grew as I spent time here. One note I would make is to find a program for support during and after your time at Woodhaven. I chose AA and it gave me the social/spiritual support I needed.

As a place to work, I feel like I have learned so much from WH, the population we serve, and people as a whole. I love WH because of the people I get to meet, the stories I get to hear, the friends I've made, and the clients I get to help. After three years of employment here, I've learned a lot, and feel like there's something new for me to learn everyday stepping into the building. There's a lot of us staff who care. Who want to see our clients succeed and go on to do the great things we know they're capable of. The reality, though, is that WH isn't perfect, and it never will be. There's room to improve, as there is anywhere in the human service and helping field. The employees sometimes feel underappreciated, but we live with it because of how much we enjoy our jobs. We know WH works towards doing better and being better, and that's what we look forward to. It has its ups and downs, but we pride ourselves in being able to meet the needs of our clients regardless. We are client-centered, client-focused, and client-drive above all else.

I found Woodhaven after I got clean. I started working here and have been here for 2 and half years. I see how great the workers are with the clients. I have seen so many people come through here and thrive afterwards, going on to bigger and better things in their lives. We are here for anyone 24/7 to help you through a hard time in your life and get you to where you want to be in your life. I will forever recommend Woodhaven to those in need of treatment services.

During my struggle with addiction, I aspired to come to Woodhaven for treatment, inspired by the positive feedback I had heard about the program. Unfortunately, I was unable to attend at that time as I was placed in a lockdown treatment facility fast-forward three years I was offered the incredible opportunity to work at Woodhaven the very place I had to attend for my recovery now after three years of being part of the Woodhaven team, I continue to be impressed by the unwavering dedication compassion and support we provide to our clients. We are committed to making Woodhaven the best possible environment for recovery offering home-cooked meals, catered options and Jim a self-care room and many other amenities, we pride ourselves on being a safe haven for recovery working collaboratively to ensure that each individual treatment is personalized and successful. We can recover we do recover. We are living proof of recovery.

I highly recommend Woodhaven for anyone that's wanting to start their recovery process. The main focus at Woodhaven is to care for the client and their needs. Woodhaven wants people to succeed. I LOVE seeing people that graduated from the program out in society living clean and serene. Seeing the light come into someone's eyes is such a beautiful thing to witness, after being in the dark so long. If you need treatment its open 24/7. Make the call, you will not regret it!

My experience at woodhaven has been absolutely life changing for myself and I am blessed to help so many people along my journey and career at woodhaven. The staff are phenomenal at woodhaven and consider them my family they have always been there through my time working at woodhaven. The time staff spend and go out of there way for each client to help each and every client is nothing other than magical and to see the progress from the time the clients enter then the time there ready to leave is nothing other than astonishing. In my opinion woodhaven is the best Treatment center hands down I've ever seen and ever worked at.

Having seen people come in and out of this program the best word I can use to describe it is "Real". When people come here they are helped by staff and other clients with whatever needs they may have no matter the size. I have had family come through here and they spoke highly of this Rehab facility. People come here not only to detox/rehab/get clean, they come here to gather new relationships with people going through the same struggles, with hard work they make it out of here and go the right way together. I am proud of the people I have seen come in and out of this program, the positivity once they complete is awesome. I can only wish that you or a loved one in need considers this location if getting better is what you/they need. There are things woodhaven has to work on like every other place, but that follows the message it stands for.
