About A New Life Counseling Services

A New Life Counseling Services is a counseling and outpatient treatment center founded and run by Dr Juliana Mueler in Marietta, Georgia. They treat adults, parents, and couples in the area. This center is dedicated to offering clients a new lease on life through substance abuse evaluations and treatment, and court, state and probation-approved assessments.

These services are provided in a peaceful and safe environment and aim to help you meet your personal needs. The center also operates with the understanding that court-ordered voluntary treatment is a vulnerable process, so the staff does everything possible to provide private, comfortable and confidential treatment settings. Based on past patients’ experiences, many agree that the programs are effective in helping individuals foster personal growth and rehabilitation, which may ease your mind when considering treatment.

Treatment Provided By Juliana Mueller, A Past Recoveree

Sometimes it can feel like a center doesn’t truly understand what you’re going through when trying to overcome addiction. This center is operated by Dr. Juliana Mueller, who herself has overcome many issues, including substance abuse.

Given this, she understands how difficult it can be to recover. The center will meet you where you’re at and work on an individualized treatment plan, whether court-ordered or voluntary.

Dr. Mueller offers help toward recovery through counseling that incorporates spiritual practices, meditation and consistency. She believes that she has transcended limited beliefs and behaviors to recover, and that this is something anyone can do with proper support.

Convenient Drug and Alcohol Screenings and Evaluations

If you are court-mandated to undergo drug and alcohol testing, you can undergo urine and saliva screens and substance abuse evaluations at the A New Life Counseling Services center. All evaluations are state and court probation certified and can be completed in under an hour, provided an appointment has been scheduled. A counselor will gently guide you through the assessment, taking notes throughout to ensure the findings are accurate, and then guide you towards the following steps to take.

Since the facility is situated between I-75 and Cobb Parkway, it is conveniently found near local attractions and community resources. This means that while undergoing outpatient treatment, you can bolster your chances of recovery by taking part in various recreational and community-driven activities.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

A quality drug rehab in Georgia can help you overcome addiction. This environment is designed to help you address the complex issues contributing to drug dependence. The goal of treatment is to give you the tools you need to make a full recovery.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

Hypnotherapy (aka guided hypnosis) can be used as a therapeutic modality to treat substance use, especially in terms of quitting smoking cigarettes (nicotine). Clinical hypnotherapists help clients turn their attention inward, accessing unconscious or subconscious material, and then make suggestions that are healthier for the individual. The process can help clients make deep, positive, and lasting changes, including ceasing addictive habits.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

I found A New Life Counseling through a Google search for counseling in Marietta, GA. I arrived with the intention of fulfilling the court's requirement to complete the Family Violence course. Initially I felt ashamed and guilty for being involved in this type of situation but throug class I understood better the reality of my behavior. Today I finished my class, and I can say that I appreciate every topic and the respect with which Juliana guides the curriculum. The course has helped me question my beliefs, see my mistakes, modify my response in stressful situations, and know that I don't have to be in control of my relationships to feel good about myself. I took this course seriously and I know that my future will be better if I continue practicing what Juliana has helped me learn. I have tools now to help even my children in their youth and in my work with my colleagues on a daily basis. Thank you again, Juliana. Totaly recomended to all, this is the place.

When I first entered this diversion program, I felt ashamed, confused, and honestly, a little hopeless. I was arrested and required to complete a support group focused on domestic violence and anger management. I expected to just “get through” the sessions—but what I didn’t expect was to meet someone like Juliana. . I didn’t just complete a requirement—I completed a chapter that helped me reclaim control of my life. From day one, Juliana created a safe, non-judgmental space where I felt seen and heard. She wasn’t just a therapist reading from a workbook she was real, present, and deeply understanding. She had a way of guiding our group with honesty, compassion, and firmness that made us reflect on not just our actions, but the pain behind them. She challenged us to look at ourselves in ways we hadn’t before, helped us understand our triggers, and gave us tools to respond instead of react. Her ability to break down heavy topics like trauma, anger, and control in a way that made sense to all of us was incredible. She held us accountable while still offering grace and that balance made all the difference. Juliana didn’t just help me complete a court requirement she helped me confront parts of myself I had buried. She helped me grow emotionally, gain control over how I respond to conflict, and most importantly, believe that healing is possible. I’m leaving this program stronger, more aware, and committed to continuing the growth that began in this room. I am a different person than when I walked in more aware, more grounded, and more determined to never go back to that version of myself. I am deeply grateful for the support and guidance I received. I didn’t just complete a requirement I completed a chapter that helped me reclaim control of my life. Thank you for helping me see that even through pain, there’s an opportunity to grow and move forward. And I owe so much of that to Juliana. She is truly gifted at what she does, and I will always be grateful for the time I spent in her group. Thank you, Juliana you were exactly what I didn’t know I needed.
