About Cedar Oaks Wellness Center

Their secluded and peaceful location is the perfect backdrop for your healing journey, and it gives you the chance to connect with nature and focus on your recovery without the distractions of everyday life.

During treatment, they use motivational interviewing (MI), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) techniques to help you build the skills necessary for lasting sobriety.

A great thing about Cedar Oaks Wellness Center is the way they truly tailor your treatment program to fit you. They don’t believe in taking a one-size-fits-all approach to addiction, and so they go out of their way to make unique treatment programs for each of their clients.

The staff also deeply understand how addiction is chronic in nature and needs long-term solutions, not quick fixes. They help you understand how substances affect your body and mental state, and work with you to reprogram unhealthy habits and damaging behavior patterns to prevent relapse.

They also include extensive aftercare planning, so you feel supported long after your treatment is complete. They connect you to resources that help you maintain sober habits. You’ll also be able to stay connected to your peers through their alumni app, which you gain lifetime access to when you’ve completed treatment.

John Lyons and the team at Cedar are truly amazing!!!! My daughter struggled with drug use her entire teens and into early adulthood and when she finally decided to go to rehab the mama bear in me wanted her close to home. After researching rehabs in the Ohio area we toured cedar oaks and decided that it was the best fit. John stayed in contact with me her entire stay and gave updates on my daughters progress and for that I am so thankful. It gave me such piece of mind to know the people looking after her truly cared. My girl is healthy and clean and this mama could not be prouder

My husband attended Cedar Oaks in May of 2024 and we had the absolute best experience with the facility and staff! I thought there was no hope in him recovering from his alcoholism and now he has over a year sober! Literally from the first phone call I knew this was going to be good for not only him but for our family. They provided such great insight into the addiction process because this isn’t something I’d ever thought I’d experience as a partner and even offered family therapy sessions which I attended via phone as we are out of state. My husband is not the same man I watched get on the plane to treatment and I truly owe that to Cedar Oaks.

We are so grateful for your kind words and for trusting us with your husband’s care. Recovery is truly a family journey, and we are glad that the family therapy sessions could offer you the support and insight you needed as well. Congratulations to your husband on over a year of sobriety — that’s an incredible achievement! We are so proud of his progress and thankful to know that Cedar Oaks played a role in helping your family find hope and healing.

CEDAR OAKS SAVED MY LIFE!!!! I’ve struggled with a heroine and fentanyl addiction for 10 years and have been through upwards of 80+ rehab stints. God willing after attending Cedar Oaks I will celebrate 1 year of continuous sobriety in a few days. I’d never made it past 60 days in the past. Huge shoutout to John Lyons for his dedication to helping his clients and for going above and beyond to make sure I got the personalized treatment I needed to be successful in my recovery. He was a god send!!! That man truly believes in his facility and was there to help with any request and reservation I had during my stay. He even personally invites me to every alumni event they have and I’ll definitely be attending one day (I’m a PA resident so I’d have to travel) but it’d be so worth it. The nursing staff was so loving and helpful throughout the detox process and the clinical staff led groups that were fully engaging and interesting rather than just the typical relapse prevention groups I was used to. I will always recommend Cedar to any addict struggling and cannot thank them enough for helping me take my life back

Accepted Insurance

Cedar Oaks Wellness Center works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Rehab aftercare programs are designed to ensure clients receive continuing care while in the maintenance phase of recovery. Some clients may be in outpatient treatment, which is generally considered to be an element of drug rehab aftercare. The specific services provided in these programs are often determined by the client's case manager and care team in consultation with the client. Common services include peer coaching, career counseling, and 12 step program induction.

12-step icon12-Step

Many treatment centers base their recovery models on the 12 step programming standard, which combines intensive peer support with spiritual, psychological, and emotional growth. Participants in 12 step recovery programs are expected to regularly attend group meetings, which are free, anonymous, peer-led, and open to the public. They are also required to select a sponsor to guide them through the recovery journey. These programs deploy spiritual principles to foster participants' self-understanding, forgiveness, acceptance, and accountability.

heart-hands iconIntervention Services

Intervention services help family members prepare for a drug intervention in Ohio. During an intervention, family members typically read letters they have prepared that explain how the individual's substance abuse has affected their lives and relationships. Each family member also explains what they will do if the individual does not agree to get treatment. An intervention specialist offers support to guide this discussion and makes appropriate treatment recommendations.

partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program

Designed for individuals with moderate to severe addictions, a partial hospitalization program (PHP) provides a more intensive form of outpatient therapy. PHP treatment can serve as an alternative to inpatient hospitalization or as a step-down option after being discharged from a hospital or residential program. A partial hospitalization program typically requires a minimum of 20 hours weekly for an average of 90 days. Depending on your care plan, PHPs can include relapse prevention, medication management, and behavioral therapy services.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Medical detox involves clearing your body of drugs and/or alcohol under the 24/7 care of licensed medical professionals. If you've become dependent on alcohol or drugs (like benzodiazepines or opioids), quitting abruptly can have uncomfortable and even dangerous side effects. The purpose of medically assisted detox is to keep you as safe and comfortable as possible during this process. Medications like Suboxone or Vivitrol may be provided if necessary to mitigate any withdrawal symptoms.

Treatments

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image

LGBTQ Program

Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.

Clinical Services

Cognitive behavioral therapy in Ohio may occur in individual, group, or family sessions. It involves focusing on specific thought and behavior problems. Participants learn coping techniques and are asked to practice them as homework between sessions.

The main goals of dialectical behavior therapy are to teach you how to regulate your emotions, develop positive ways to cope with stress, improve your relationships, and live in the moment. This therapy lasts about six months and involves weekly individual and group sessions.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

With trauma therapy, you can reclaim your life after witnessing or experiencing a traumatic event. Therapists help you process the memories, which promotes emotional healing and enables you to build resilience to navigate future challenges and triggers.

Some couples therapy in Ohio is designed as short term treatment to address a specific problem in the relationship, such as anxiety, depression, or addiction. Other couples therapy may focus on general strengthening of the relationship by improving interactions.

Family therapy offers a group time to collectively make an effort to understand and combat the issues and challenges associated with addiction. Therapists work with family members to establish healthy boundaries between each other and their loved one who is addicted, improve emotional support systems, and work together toward a sustained long term recovery.

Life skills provide stability. They increase the strengths that you bring to recovery by equipping you with the tools you need to navigate daily life. During rehab, you'll develop these strengths through life skills training that focuses on both cognitive and behavioral abilities.

Nutrition therapy helps with detox and drug rehab treatment in Ohio. This treatment gives you the skills you need to develop healthy eating habits, which help you recover more quickly and maintain long term sobriety.

Recreational therapy supports recovery from drug and alcohol addiction by providing you with enjoyable activities that improve your physical and mental health. When you engage in sports, creative arts, and nature excursions, it helps reduce your cravings and stress levels while building a supportive community of peers who can help promote your long term sobriety.

Creative arts therapy can be an effective tool for recovery. It can relieve depression and anxiety and help you feel more in control of your life. Through creative expression, it can help you explore difficult emotions and process challenging situations.

I have been sober for over a year now (442 days but who's counting.) I can honestly say that this program helped me more than anything else could have. The facilities are top notch, it's way out at an old camp in the woods and it's so peaceful. For the most part, I went through with a great group, and that made a difference. But what I really liked was that there were people there like me, the programs I had looked at and visited had a lot of court ordered people who didn't really want to take it seriously. That sounds harsh but it can be the reality. We had a few people that just didn't want to be there, but the rest of us got pretty close. I don't talk to them anymore and that's okay, it was wonderful to be in an environment with people who got it. I went home with a lot of tools to use and more importantly, I came home with a patience and understanding I hadn't had before, both for myself and other people. I learned to give myself grace and take a deep breath, this too shall pass. Plus, this is the only facility I could find that allowed phones. We got to use them for a few hours before dinner, so I could keep up with work and home things. It was very important to some of my cohort to be able to see their kids every day. I don't need my phone, but I didn't need to be completely cut off to heal, it was important to be able to talk with my family in real time as I was processing everything. You trade that freedom with being able to physically see people, but I didn't mind not seeing people in person. Just be nice and courteous to your housemates, clean up after yourself, and participate in the program, you'll do great! It's a wonderful place, if I could live there I would.

Response from the owner

Cedar Oaks Wellness Center has been such a blessing in my mental health recovery. My therapist Valeri is amazing. The clinical group leaders are compassionate, knowledgeable, and truly invested in your growth. The nurses and RA’s are kind and always willing to help. The chefs go out of their way to make mealtimes enjoyable, which adds so much comfort during the healing process. The maintenance staff is wonderful too—Terry’s kind words have meant a lot to me during my stay. John, the discharge coordinator, went above and beyond to make sure I received my full treatment despite struggles with insurance, and I’ll always be grateful for that. The setting is also something special. Nestled away in the woods, Cedar Oaks offers a peaceful and calming environment that makes it easier to focus on recovery. Being surrounded by nature created a sense of calm that I truly needed during this time. I’m deeply grateful to every single person at Cedar Oaks Wellness Center for the role they’ve played in my journey. This is more than just a treatment center—it’s a place where people genuinely care, and it makes all the difference.

Was there a couple years ago. Amazing place, amazing people, the staff is amazing and so supportive, the counselors are hands down some of the most compassionate people and have so much passion in what they do. When I was there the patients there who were strangers at first became like family! It’s an amazing place to be, late night talks around the fire or group sessions with the therapists it was one of the most amazing experiences with memories I will treasure forever. Thanks to all you amazing compassionate people for seeing us as people and not just a patient.

I just discharged from this facility last Wednesday. I cannot say enough about how amazing this place was for me. It was a beautiful journey to recovery, sobriety and rediscovering who I am. The staff is amazing!! I simply can’t mention everybody’s names because there are so many but some of the people that changed my life were Dee Dee and Stacie (therapists), Carrie Rollins (Director of Nursing), Ben (discharge planner), Cinda (charge nurse), Shelby (intake coordinator), Brent and Amy and Jessica (RA’s), Dr. Hoying (Medical Director) and so many more. I give this place 5 stars and would give more if I could. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everybody who invested their time and compassion during this time of recovery!! I will never forget you guys.. you all have a special place in my heart. ♥️
