DO NOT COME HERE! Someone I know was released from here and then died from a stroke, called other hospital for a second opinion and they said “did Columbia do tests X, Y, Z ? THEY DID NOT. My mother went here 3 times and they kept dismissing her pain and refused to do tests and we eventually found out she HAD CANCER THE ENTIRE TIME. LUNG CANCER. then my sister went here with a kidney infection and they looked at her and said nothing is wrong, she went to Albany for a second opinion and they found a kidney infection. My sister could have died. THIS IS a terrible terrible bottom of the barrel hospital that literally will let you die. PLEASE do not come here. PLEASE. everyone around Hudson will tell you DO NOT come here. YOU HEAR IT. LISTEN TO THEM.

On July 11th 2025 my body felt like it was on fire, I came out to the kitchen and pulled out everything frozen and put it on my body that was swollen, my feet and legs swollen, my neck and head, my arms and fingers I thought it was the end, I got dressed I couldn't even put my feet into my sneakers that's how swollen they were and my husband took me to the er. Stripped me of my clothes, my body looked like the Pillsbury dough boy, my Bp was 189/59. That's not me. Dr on duty Dr Stanger ordered multiple blood work, cat scans, x rays, and ultrasounds at end of day I found out what I had: Lyme disease. Dr Stanger was kind and professional the nurses extra ordinary in kindness and compassion, overboard with medical help, my body wasnt as swollen anymore. His prescription was 200 MG or 2 100 MG doxcycline twice a day with food. Lyme disease destroys every cell in our bodies including our organs. This was last Friday I'm happy to say my feet and body are no longer swollen my neck is not sore my muscles not tight I'm able to walk whereas before I could not. Exceptional care at the ER. My regular Dr a month ago told me to put my feet up. After a month of her advice I could have died. I wish Dr Stanger had an office cause I'd have him for my Dr he is the best.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Had a Total Knee replacement. Process had many steps taking time but everything was logical and explained. Excellent guidance through the matrix. Day of surgery everything proceeded with military precision - and success! Only 4 stars due to less than stellar pain management policies. I have a high tolerance to analgesics and it took a very painful post op day for them to get this.

Came on early monday morning with pain, was told after 4 hours I had to have my gallbladder removed, scheduled for yesterday at 2 pm and was admitted a few hours later. No food no nothing, did not get my surgery h til almost 4 pm, at that point had not eaten since Sunday dinner. Go to procedure, woke up in excruciating pain, which I figured was obviously having an organ ripped, yes ripped from an incision on my belly button, no antibiotics were given post treatment, pain continued to worse, and I was crying. The overnight nurse and evening nurse were amazing. That’s as far as the good faith went. Nurse this morning came in, asked me why I was acting this way (crying) and that it was my fault my blood pressure was rising and that I needed to get myself figured out. Mind you my blood pressure had been pretty high since I had gotten here due to the pain. Then she proceeds to tell med yea they need to set you free after I felt completely degraded and said that I was in pain but remained as calm as I could everytime they retook my bp, but that was also my fault, keep in mind this ruse was NOT here to witness that or even understand why I was crying and upset. All in all. I wouldn’t bring a turtle here. This hospital is a disgraced I will be signing out and going to another hospital for a second opinion on my incisions and lord help them if they didn’t do their jobs properly.

I've been in CMH since Tuesday with my mentally challenged elderly uncle. This is not my first time here but it is one of my most pleasant times, so far. Talking to the staff I've met many travel nurses who have been brought in to help. Bridget, an RN on the 4th floor being one of them. I must say the staff in the er and the 4th and the urology OR staff have been super accommodating and empathetic to my uncles situation and have gone above and beyond to heal him! Doctor Wickman, and his student, Justine from ER, Heaven, who was a floating PA, Veronica, another PA on the 4th floor, Doctor Sabooty, urologist surgeon and all have been so kind and have thoroughly answered all of my questions and have treated my uncles ailments as they come up! I'm extremely happy with this staff and will come here more often when needed. We couldn't be accommodated at other hospitals, as all have been over crowded. So kuddos to CMH for taking a very difficult case on. Thank you for what you're doing with the staff you have! God bless!
