I arrived at the Emory Decatur hospital via ambulance about 5:30 on Saturday. I ve had a battery of tests, and still no answers. I have been on a gurney in the ER for over 24 hours awaiting a room upstairs. At 4:00 I was told they were cleaning my room. It s neary 8 o clock and I m still in the ER.

Had hernia surgery today and given that it was surgery EVERY team member that took care of me was great! The team kept my lovely wife fully informed every step of the way. My surgeon was an Ace. Went exactly as planned and all great now!

Addiction Treatments

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

A quality drug rehab in Georgia can help you overcome addiction. This environment is designed to help you address the complex issues contributing to drug dependence. The goal of treatment is to give you the tools you need to make a full recovery.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

When did the Emory cause I messed up my knee can’t walk the ER doctor was good. Couple nurses were good but they’re so careless. They hit my leg three times before they even got me back there three different times then as soon as I find out, I don’t have health insurance. They ran me out of the damn hospital told me I got blood on my knee. Will you treat me for it? They could at least drain the blood off of my knee so I’m not too much pressure. I came out of the hospital worse than I was going in. Did you have enough wheelchair? They were taking wheelchairs away from people and making them sit in regular chairs so very disappointed they want me to pay $1000 for what two x-rays at the x-ray guy couldn’t even read an MRI. He couldn’t even readall they did give me an ace band. All they did give me an ace bandages. Give me a couple pain pills and said you can go home this shit gets worse by morning. I’m suing the shit out of this hospital. Bang my leg three times the one that was injured went there for what to pay more money out and get no service cause I had no insurance. What a joke even a girl at the desk when I told her had no Insurance whoopee dude whoopee dude couldn’t show me to the front and just threw the papers in my lap didn’t even hand them to me. I should give them one star only reason I didn’t call the ER doctor was trying his best. there’s a couple nurses that we’re doing their job, but they should’ve treated me just like the rest of the patient. Not sent me back on. I got blood on my knee sent me home.

The staff of the ARU/COA surgery team were exceptionally nice and kind to me. Particularly a nurse by the name of Marline Beverly and procedure nurse Michael. They made me feel very relaxed, calm and in good hands.

I was recently seen at Emory Decatur for a serious knee injury, and unfortunately, it was the worst medical experience I’ve ever had. From the outset, there was a clear lack of communication, urgency, and attention to my condition. Despite having ruptured both patellar tendons and being unable to move, I felt that my level of pain and need for care were not taken seriously. I was told I would be transferred to another facility at 10 PM, but this did not happen until 2 AM, with little explanation or regard for my discomfort. I also requested to be seen at a hospital closer to home but was informed that they couldn't transfer my documents because the hospital I preferred was "out of network"—a frustrating excuse in 2025, when electronic document transfer is routine. On top of that, I'm fairly certain that my insurance provider—not hospital staff—should determine network eligibility, not use it as a reason to delay or deny my request. To make matters worse, they almost sent my pain medication to the wrong pharmacy, and it was only because I caught the mistake that it was corrected before discharge. Overall, this experience left me feeling neglected and deeply disappointed during an already traumatic time. I would not recommend this facility based on the care I received and sincerely hope no one else has to go through something similar during a medical emergency.

I absolutely had my doubts about this place, but the second I walked in, I was already being called back, was assessed by Dr. Melanie Lance and she was nothing short of amazing. She maintained round the clock checking in, made sure i was not in pain, and helped me understand my condition, and pushed for test to make sure we had the full picture of what was going on. I was diagnosed with something I have never heard of in 28 years of going to ER, DR, Specialist. and I FINALLY have an answer on what is going on thanks to her. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Dr. Melanie Lance.

DO NOT COME HERE PLEASE THEY DONT CARE ALL THEY WANT IS YOUR MONEY I was admitted in the ER and the technician told me he go blind to get blood and he hit my nerve in my arm and i now have severe nerve damage and the hospital sent me a letter saying oh we know who it was and he will be retained WTH my arm is in constant pain and hurts constantly still 3 years later DO NOT COME HERE THEY ARE NASTY AND THEY WILL DO MORE DAMAGE. IF I could give zero stars I would. They don't want to own up to my or no one else injury caused by Staff that lied and said he ran out after hitting my nerve that he went to go get help witch he did not.

Yesterday I had surgery at Emory Decatur Hospital. I also had a number of friends and relatives praying all would go well. Well, I did not have just one Angel looking over me, but an entire team of them!!! Everyone I met was so nice, caring and explained everything to me. Not just "we are about to do this", but why as well and always asked if I had any questions or concerns. The facility was so nice, clean, and modern and the equipment! Wow, it was all new and lots of it (especially in the surgery rooms). Also they had the most comfortable patient beds I've ever laid upon. I've been in a number of the metro-Atlanta Hospitals over the years, but Emory Decatur may be my new favorite! Just awesome people!!!!

I want to express my deepest gratitude to the incredible nursing team who cared for my sister before and after her procedure. From the moment we arrived, Anne Marie, Davieta , Sherry, and Janissy showed exceptional professionalism, compassion, and dedication. Each of them went above and beyond to make sure my sister was comfortable, informed, and well taken care of. Their warmth and attention to detail made a stressful situation so much more manageable for our entire family. They were not only skilled professionals but also kind-hearted individuals who truly care about their patients.

My husband had surgery, the nurse NEVER bothered to update me. She was rude when I tried to check on him and when I was finally allowed to see him she fondled his privates twice right in front of me! Complete trash!!!
