I have been here for a couple months and in all honestly thought this place is going to help me but in reality I have suffered so much verbal abuse and my mental health is a all time low and in all honestly i have ever been violent and fought but here i fought more girls than i would on the outside world not only that in the winter its colder in the pods then outside and in the summer its hotter than outside and most staff verbal abuse us and get power hungry with their behavioral writes and threaten us to write us up i have suffer more depression in here and wanted to die why more in here its not helpful for kids it makes us worse. When we get injuries it takes weeks for us to get checked i fell down the stairs and it took weeks of complaining to get my ankle check, i tore muscle tissue oh and i have gotten sexually touched by girls and it took months for them to kick them out even when everyone was complaining there is mold in the bathrooms the tiles in the bathroom is broken there are broken furniture and there aren't enough seats for the max of 16 girls to sit in the "day room" (TV room) we aren't allowed to sit on the floor either so most girls don't have a seat to watch TV. the school system is messed up for NC especially for the special needs who cant mentally work well by themselves and but forces so much pressure on the kids. And the kids that don't have anyone to get them stuff staff gets mad at them and kids bully them for wearing the same clothes and staff also bullies us and argue with us even when we ask nicely or tell them to stop (respectfully) doing something cause it triggers us and then writes us up when we lash out or freak out cause the staff triggered us....finally in all honestly i don't know why this place is even open still its not helping kids its just not.

Honestly there is so much I can say about this place. Me and a friend had an experience here and it was absolutely traumatizing. I went to Venice when I was 11-12 for around 4 months right when Covid started. First of all I was stuck in a ward with 15-20 girls who were aggressive and extremely suicidal. Second, we were never allowed outside which honestly destroyed my mental health further. Third, I witnessed many traumatic experiences and faced some of my own. Almost every girl would fight, there was an 8 year old girl who would hurt herself so badly that there would be blood all over the walls and the staff expected us to clean it up. I wasn’t allowed to have contact with my family for at least 2 weeks which was also horrible. We hardly had any freetime and if you tried to stand up for yourself against staff then you could be locked in your room for days. I wasn’t allowed to told within 4 months of my stay there that my sister had a major seizure and that she was in a coma, what do you expect a 12 year old child to do when you hear the news? Of course im going to cry, and I did. Right when those tears fell they handed me medication to “calm down”, I couldn’t even express my emotions without a staff member telling me im dramatic. I found out a week in of my sisters coma that the doctors didnt think she would make it so I had a panic attack in the quiet room (which is just a white brick room), I was then restrained for being too loud and disrespecting staff orders, their orders were them telling me to stop crying. I witnessed many bloody situations, I saw many girls purposely hurt themselves just so they can feel the sun on their skin. I hope you never decide to send your child to this mental institution because now I’m battling more trauma from this place than I ever did before.

Accepted Insurance

Please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Excalibur Youth Services LLC works with several private insurance providers, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Outpatient rehabs provide flexibility and accommodation for clients who prefer to remain in their homes and workplaces while in recovery. They also facilitate clients' sustained sobriety for clients stepping down from intensive inpatient care. Clients may engage in day, evening, night, or weekend treatment sessions, which typically involve addiction counseling and recovery-focused life skills training. Many outpatient facilities also offer medication assisted treatment (MAT) and evidence-based holistic therapies, such as yoga and massage.

Clients who have just completed detox, those who are in crisis, and those with a history of relapse often require treatment in an inpatient rehab. These facilities provide high-level supervision, structure, and support, allowing clients to focus on their recovery away from their addiction triggers. Most inpatient treatment programs center upon various forms of psychotherapy, including CBT, DBT, RBT, and motivational interviewing. Clients may also receive recovery-focused life skills training and evidence-based holistic therapies, such as massage.

Withdrawing from addictive substances, like alcohol, benzodiazepines (like Xanax), or opioids, occurs during the detox process. Since this process can have uncomfortable and even dangerous side effects, the mission of a medically assisted detox is to provide an expert medical team to help monitor your health around the clock. They will work to keep you as safe and comfortable as possible, administering necessary medications to alleviate any withdrawal symptoms.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Alcoholism is characterized by a lack of control over drinking habits, use of alcohol despite negative consequences, and preoccupation with alcohol. Often, alcohol use disorder occurs simultaneously with other mental health disorders. If you have a co-occurring disorder, it is important to get treatment for both. Alcohol rehab in South Carolina can provide this dual diagnosis treatment through inpatient or outpatient care.

Choosing a drug rehab in South Carolina helps you overcome drug dependency, learn how to manage cravings, and obtain the tools needed to prevent relapse. This is accomplished through individualized treatment that addresses a full spectrum of physical, social, and emotional needs.

Programs

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.

The providers who specialize in the children's rehab space understand the specialized needs that this population faces. School-based and social services such as tutoring and family counseling are often central to treatment. Child programs may also address the needs of youth experiencing substance abuse in the home, including a parent's or sibling's addiction.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would I won't reveal who I am. I worked here on pod 500 the worse pod in this place absolutely the worst job I've ever had I did my best to try to help kids I even brought things for them like name brand socks. I gave one girl a pair of shoes fairly new. I would try to do nice things like bringing in kool- aid giving out extra snacks. The person in charge (Chico) found out and told me I couldn't do that for the kids, whenever the "good staff" tried to help in a positive way they would prevent us from trying to help I can absolutely vouch what a lot of these people are saying as far as the experience and trauma they went through as a staff who was only trying to help in a positive way I've never seen anything like this place in my life I wouldn't advise anyone to send a child here for any reason jail is probably better they get to go outside. There's so much I want to say because It was a lot I really felt bad for those kids and how they got treated.
