About Florence Crittenton Agency

Florence Crittenton Agency in Knoxville, Tennessee, is an organization that offers substance abuse treatment for adolescents. They operate outpatient and residential programs on a 26 acre property. They help young men and women get the skills they need to be the best version of themselves. The agency accomplishes this by teaching its clients how to take care of themselves and how to live a productive life. Their services also extend into the community through their outreach programs that teach youth how to make good decisions and help families have the resources they need to provide children with a safe and healthy home. They accept most insurance plans and can help uninsured or underinsured clients access financial support.

Youth Summit of Recovery is an inpatient program that provides evidence based drug and alcohol treatment to adolescents ages 12 to 18. It’s the only program in Tennessee that provides dual diagnosis treatment for adolescents. Patients are monitored 24 hours a day in a therapeutic environment. The maximum time patients will stay at the facility is 60 days. The services offered include medication management, individual and group therapy, and alcohol and drug education.

Florence Crittenton Agency also has an intensive outpatient program (IOP) known as Square One. Patients receive treatment five days a week on the campus. The therapeutic approaches that counselors use include motivational interviewing and trauma informed cognitive behavioral therapy. The treatment plan typically lasts about 90 to 120 days and includes educational activities and individual, group and family therapy.

Hello, I spent a total of 120 days at FLO CRIT adolescent unit. 60 days my first hospitalization, 60 days my second. They are verbally, emotionally and physically abusive. They also keep you locked in the unit for the entirety of your stay under the guise of not having enough staff members I am 23 years old and attended FLO CRIT at 16 and 17 years old. There is not a night that goes by that I don t have nightmares about being back at this facility. 60 more days is all I can think about, locked in with other traumatized children. You will watch the same movies, over and over and over and over again until you go insane. Do not send your children here if you have the option, they will never forget the things that happen in there. I hope everyone involved with this facility faces legal repercussions one day, even if it is myself who has to do it. I ve spent the entirety of my life since I ve left these residentials, building up my portfolio, and will eventually have every tool I need to close these places for good. (:Have a wonderful day, thanks for reading my review.

I went here as a child and it was TERRIBLE. For anyone who knows about A side and how the rooms are set the room in the far back was for new comers I know and am friends with a fellow girl who was sent there and wasn t fed for a whole week. The staff completely forgot she was in there. They had this rule no one was allowed in others rules and they had a 16 and 14 year old together and the 16 year old was in the bathroom and broke the shampoo bottle and tried to end her life the 14 year old was terrified. It s crazy how the state will allow a child to be out there I know girls that ran and ended up getting taken. The security guard if still the same dude should be fired. He would throw us all on the floor for doing the most simple things but let girls beat a girl to the pint she was hospitalized. They place us a very bad place I ended up running away. There schooling sucks you are not allowed to use restrooms if someone acts up you get locked in the room until things are done and would shorten lunch. We only had 2 class room one we watched movies the other we sat by our self s on a computer

Not a good experience. They don t treat their workers good. Boys level 2 was kept unclean with a very bad odor. Past employees got caught sleeping with the kids who were there. I was fairly new only being there a couple of months. After all the hard work I ve done even buying kids a going home gift for completing the program. I was let go for ratio reasons.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

I think they are very rude to people. We only seek help and if they treat us like that they only make our situation worse.

i was here for about 11 months (january 12, 2023- december 18, 2023) to say the least, there were some ups and some pretty hard downs. i was there for the mental health aspect, i honestly felt this place wasn't good for my mental health. there were a few good staff that made that place bearable, but half of the good ones quit. the kitchen staff was pretty good, they usually had some pretty good food, and if you didn't want what was on the menu you could get a substitution. now i will say the school staff was amazing, the whole school aspect of it. whenever we needed help theyd help, if we needed to talk they'd try and make time to talk, and the education was great too. we were on an online class through knox county schools and personally i felt it helped me a lot. i finished all my eighth grade classes in like 5-7 months. anyways, this could be an amazing place if it were under different management, and wasn't under DCS

I Rate this experience a 10/10 , it was very rough for me at first , but I had guidance each step of the way despite the obstacles that got in my way , this facility definitely have its challenges , and it definitely has it bad moments , but they never last long , I’ll always remember being around 16 females and keeping my cool even when I wanted to lose it , Ms. Grant , and Mrs. Howard always had my best interest, even when I gave them complete H*** , I’ll never forget the ways FCA helped me grow as a person , and as a Young Women learning to control my Hasty ways , FCA is on your side and they will always want what’s best for you && from all the nasty comments here under these reviews , obviously shows that these females thought they were going to get their way and live how they lived on the outside of their lives , I was there for 5 months and I thought I was going to do what I wanted as well , and that got shut down very quickly , obviously young girls under this have no sense of self reflection , nor were they willing to accept the help that was offered . I feel for these girls simply because they didn’t get the amazing experience I did , and to tell the truth I’d go back again just to get my mental right if I could ,, but I recommend this place the therapy helps .

I was on both levels 2 and 3. Both levels had very good staff. Some were not the best but at the end of the day they were there for you. But the problem its self did not work for me. In level 2 you get to go out side but not often. Level 3 you almost never get to go out. The food was not good at all. And after leaving there I had more mental issues than I came in with. I still to this day can’t trust or do I feel comfortable talking at all do to fear of what will happen. FCA’s level2 school consists of a few adults in a building one sits in his office. The “teacher” sits at a desk and might be able to help you with some work. All school is on line level 2 just gets to walk a few yards to a different building. Level 3 you don’t leave the building unless you’re going to an appointment. You do school on a computer in a small square room also where they do visits. You do get 1 visits with your family 18+ only and they must be approved. These places truly cause more trauma and problems for my life. I don’t suggest sending a kid there

I was here for a little over 200 days and It helped me so much! Ms.Shea,Ms.Kateshia, Mrs.howard, and Ms. Sam plus many more staff were great! I've been out for 3 months and it's helped me long term. I'm so much happier than when I went in. Thank you to all staff members. Some of the clients there are wild but staff honestly can't help that!
