*EDIT 7/29/25–forgot I gave 2 stars to make a point. Just back to remedy that.*** I would give zero stars, but there is a required minimum of one and then I decided to throw the Glenwood staff a bonus star because their round-the clock work to keep this review section “tidy” has GOT to be exhausting. I can’t even be mad at my deleted negative reviews. And my spouse’s. Im not even mad; I’m genuinely impressed. It’s all probably going to end up in someone’s Discovery someday, anyway. The absolute worst behavior health facility you can go to. If you are a Medicaid/Medicare recipient, this nightmarish experience is going to run your insurance roughly $5,000 a day. So let's talk about what you can expect to experience at Glenwood Behavioral Health: -Do they offer neurological help here? No. If your issue is caused by underlying symptoms such as head trauma, a stroke, asphyxiation, or anything not SOLELY categorized as a behavioral health issue, do not expect treatment here outside of pills to sedate you. -Do they offer smoking for in-patients? Yes, but it is not worth it compared to the extra stress you get here. And smoking is not as simple as you think it will be. -The staff are MUCH louder than any patients kept here. They can be heard cackling and talking all hours of the night. -There are ZERO security cameras here to watch staff or patients. That means there is zero accountability for staff as they lazily sit around on their phones or even FaceTime throughout all the day and night. -You get 5 minutes to speak to "your" doctor, and if you're lucky a caseworker, which is usually conducted before 8am and afterwards you are just shuffled around by nurses. If you have any questions about your care you'll be expected to wait til you see your doctor or caseworker, which usually means waiting until the next day, if you're lucky. -Eating here is like jail. There is no selection of meals. Here is the process:You line up to sit in a room where you will be expected to wait an additional 15-20 minutes while patients pace and cough around you, after which you get whatever slop was rushed together and hopefully it's not too burned that you have 10-15 minutes to try and digest. -Going to groups is an exhausting idea after spending 3 hours a day redundantly waiting for meals. Don't ask a nurse to bring you a meal, the passive aggressive nonsense and the state of the meal itself become not worth it. -Prepare to hear nurses huff and puff if you ask for anything that they aren't currently offering along with constant discussions of patients "just trying to get away with too much" by needing access to anything besides a pillow, blanket, crayons, and that's all you can expect. -Don't expect to rest, eat, smoke or do anything as an individual here. This is basically an out-patient program for people who are supposed to be in jail, but aren't. Don't expect to NOT be treated like a criminal. Do NOT expect things to be done in a procedure that's NOT done in jail. **Conclusion*** It's not worth it, not in the slightest. Not worth all the stress and regret. If you have read this review this far, trust yourself enough to call ANYWHERE else. This is your sign. Get help for yourself or the one you love, but for the love of Christ, do not come here. Kick the dirt off your feet when you do leave, if you are unfortunate enough to have to stay, and don't come back.

Accepted Insurance

Glenwood Behavioral Health & Addiction Treatment works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient

Clients who have just completed detox or who are at an increased risk of relapse, such as those experiencing a life crisis, typically enroll in an inpatient rehab. There, they receive housing, meals, and intensive clinical supervision. Inpatient treatment typically involves extensive individual, group, and family therapy. Clients may also participate in life skills training to support their long-term sobriety. Integrative rehab centers offer a variety of evidence-based holistic therapies, such as meditation or equine therapy.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive outpatient programs (IOP) are designed for clients who need frequent, high-level care but do not require, or choose to forgo, inpatient treatment. Most intensive outpatient rehabs offer a minimum of nine hours of treatment weekly, though clients may receive up to 20 hours of care as needed. These programs typically combine various treatment modalities, including individual, group, and family counseling, medication assisted treatment (MAT), addiction and recovery education, and evidence-based complementary therapies, such as acupuncture and massage.

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient rehabs offer robust wraparound care for clients who are stepping down from intensive inpatient care, with many facilities providing multiple levels of care, including partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), sober living/halfway housing, and standard outpatient programming. Clients may also elect to enroll in outpatient care immediately after completing inpatient detox. Those who are at lower risk of withdrawal complications may also choose to receive ambulatory medical detox from an outpatient facility. Outpatient programs typically involve addiction counseling, recovery education, and/or medication assisted treatment (MAT). Holistic therapies, such as art and music therapy, are commonly available.

partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program

Designed for individuals with moderate to severe addictions, a partial hospitalization program (PHP) provides a more intensive form of outpatient therapy. PHP treatment can serve as an alternative to inpatient hospitalization or as a step-down option after being discharged from a hospital or residential program. A partial hospitalization program typically requires a minimum of 20 hours weekly for an average of 90 days. Depending on your care plan, PHPs can include relapse prevention, medication management, and behavioral therapy services.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Clinical Services

Individual therapy for drug and alcohol addiction treatment gives you a safe space to discuss your emotional, mental, and physical challenges. Your therapist will guide and support you as you collaborate to develop personalized strategies to manage your stress and navigate the challenges of your recovery.

Participants of group therapy sessions typically learn coping skills, communication techniques, and relapse prevention strategies. This unique set of skills helps you to navigate the challenges you find in the community and supports your long term sobriety.

Family therapy offers a group time to collectively make an effort to understand and combat the issues and challenges associated with addiction. Therapists work with family members to establish healthy boundaries between each other and their loved one who is addicted, improve emotional support systems, and work together toward a sustained long term recovery.

Cognitive behavioral therapy in Ohio may occur in individual, group, or family sessions. It involves focusing on specific thought and behavior problems. Participants learn coping techniques and are asked to practice them as homework between sessions.

The main goals of dialectical behavior therapy are to teach you how to regulate your emotions, develop positive ways to cope with stress, improve your relationships, and live in the moment. This therapy lasts about six months and involves weekly individual and group sessions.

!!!! I CANT NOT WARN YOU ENOUGH ABOUT THIS FACILITY !!!!!! I am the guardian of a loved one who was transferred to this facility. Because I am just now becoming his guardian and handling his business, I called to establish a point of contact so when he is released he does not walk home (again!) This is the second time he will be going to this facility from the emergency room. The woman I spoke with, the operator, was extremely rude and very concerning. She didn’t seem to understand or grasp that this person has no comprehension of what is going on so clearly they wouldn’t know my phone number or who to contact! She had a very disgusting attitude when she took my name and phone number, told me that he will need to ask to speak to me when he is brought in the facility. Then had the nerve to end the call in the middle of me asking a question. I had to then call back and go through the emotions just to speak with this ‘lovely person’ again. Who never did answer the rest of my questions but berated me over the phone for interfering with her daily duties. Imagine being so mad at the world for your life that you take it out on the family who is suffering while a loved one is now being admitted and has no idea what is going on. You my friend are in the wrong career and I pray you remove yourself before you hurt someone or damage someone’s livelihood!

If I could give worse, I would. I was there for 9 days in August last year (I turned 18 in there, actually) and while I loved a couple staff members, I didn't feel safe because of the other patients and when myself and another patient WARNED staff that those other girls would try something, they didn't listen until one of them ran up and hit me. They took me off medication I needed/was pretty stable on and put me on others that made me so sick I couldn't keep down a nutritional boost or *water*. I wasn't allowed my birth control or even something like provera (I have PCOS and its my ONLY form of treatment). I met a girl in there that almost OD'd as she snuck in pills and took them because they wouldn't listen to her about the "anxiety" meds they put her on.

Terrible terrible hospital. I went in because I was suicidal and they only made it worse. I witnessed elder abuse, patient neglect and just terrible treatment of people there to get help. Another patient thought I was a nurse because I was walking around helping people. An elderly woman had urinated on herself and was crying. No one would help her bathe or give her a sponge bath. I went to the head nurse and told them give me some gloves and I’ll do it myself. Then they made a staff member do it but as she was bathing her you could hear her yelling about how she was supposed to get a smoke break and she shouldn’t have to help some old lady. I was able to leave early thanks to being insistent and calling other doctors and my mom threatening them with legal action. Someone needs to investigate this place truly. I’ve called and reported them but nothing happens. PLEASE DO NOT SEND YOUR FAMILY HERE. IT WILL MAKE THEIR MENTAL HEALTH WORSE.

This place was an absolute prison, there are no activities whatsoever, the staff were very rude and treated us like crap if you acted up even slightly they gave you a shot which knocked you out, parents would call and they wouldn’t let us talk to them, they refused to give me water once. This place makes you feel even crazier than you already are and overall does more harm than good, if you’re thinking about sending your child here I strongly suggest you reconsider. I’m sorry to every person who’s ever had to stay in this place.

No patient advocate available . Lying nurses. This place is dangerous and nothing but an insurance scam. Not enough staff to properly care for truly mentally ill people they just drug them and keep them there. No daily exercise, you can only go outside if you smoke and they call that smoke therapy. The only reason they have any programs during the day is so that patients don’t get ahold of anyone who can help them out. They will turn the phones off just so you cant use them for important things like getting yourself out of this dangerous place. Spent a week in a room with a suicidal woman and saved her life, a nurse screaming for help and no one else ran to help her because they don’t really care. The only reason they clean up here is when they are worried about the new CEO. Absolutely disgusting people who don’t treat humans like humans. You are just money here and someone to drug. Got the nerve to be charging $40,000 for a semi private room. $40,000 to traumatize someone. Still working over this trauma from January this year.
