About Glenwood Behavioral Health & Addiction Treatment

In northern Cincinnati, Ohio, just past the Mt Airy forest, you’ll find the Glenwood Behavioral Health Hospital. This is a larger center that provides many services relevant to the needs of those seeking mental or behavioral health treatments for various conditions, including addiction. Their addiction treatment options include inpatient treatment for adolescents and adults, as well as partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient and standard outpatient programs.
A Facility Geared Toward Holistic Healing
Their inpatient treatment facilities provide 24 hour supervision and access to nursing staff, so that you never feel like you’re at risk of being alone when you’re in need. Their program starts with setting up a detailed and personalized care plan.

It may include a variety of different addiction treatment approaches like individual therapy, group therapy, psychotherapy, and medication assisted treatment. They also offer family support classes and certain types of activity therapy.

Beyond the core therapeutic elements, their sprawling campus is equipped with a gym, courtyards and hiking trails, allowing you to contemplate on quiet walks or exercise in your downtime. They also have dieticians on staff who can help you build a steadier eating plan if that feels like something you need to do.
Helping You Find The Right Outpatient Program
Outpatient programs are typically best for those who’ve completed intensive residential programs, individuals who don’t need as intensive a treatment program, or who have responsibilities that they simply cannot neglect. If you’re in one of these three categories, they have an outpatient program that can match the intensity of your need. Close to the hospital, you’ll find Fox Preserve, Felter Park, and other similar locations you can use to relax and explore before or after outpatient visits.

My son was admitted there Sunday. I have tried to find out how he is, but I don’t have a patient code, nor any idea how to get it. They will tell me nothing, and are very rude. I can’t even talk to his social worker without it, so I have to just pray that he is there and alive. He was at university, everything was open, I spoke with his social worker several times, and to him. Unfortunately, they did not have a bed available, so he was sent to this hellhole.

Absolutely disgusting place. It’s filthy in the patients are treated like trash. they don’t get any real help. They just get put on meds and constantly asked if they want to kill themselves. There’s no real treatment at all. The staff members are terrible. They constantly ignore the patients and are very unprofessional, extremely unprofessional constantly talking about sex and other inappropriate topics such as drugs and clubbing in front of patients under 18 they also have open relationships. There are barely any cameras on these units so they are free to just do whatever they want most of the time I feel like Display should be investigated.

This facility deserves no stars. They should be shut down immediately! My child was here for a week and if I knew just how bad her time there would be, there is no way in hell, I'd have let her go there for one second. This facility did not communicate with me, except wanting me to authorize medication changes, and they messed up everything. After too many med changes to count, I said no more, unless I talk to a doctor. They do not watch these children properly. Know how I know? My daughter was attacked by another patient and not only did the staff fail to keep my child safe from being kicked in the stomach and hit and punched in the head multiple times while she was laying down sleeping in her bed. The only thing that got the staff off their behinds to get that violent patient off my child was hearing my child scream for help. After that, they did not do any medical follow ups to check how she was mentally or physically after the beating, and they tried their "best" to lie about it, telling me hours after the attack happened that the roommate pulled my daughter's hair, then tried to blame her, and cover it up. We could hear the nurse on the phone telling my daughter to not tell us what happened, "be quiet", that nurse said. I believe her name was Jasmine or something like that, it was morning and afternoon Thursday 11/20/25, that this nurse was on adolescent unit 2. To hell with that! We record calls too, you know. Sometimes she even hung up on me. The staff only said to me that the doctor examined her and ordered neuro checks after I found out what really happened and gave them hell about it until I got there. Yeah, do an exam and neuro checks, over 20 hours after the attack. That's quality care. Which, my daughter said that even then, nobody examined her like we were told. As soon as I found out what really happened to my child while she was in their "care", I rushed down to get her immediately. The staff trying to tell me I'm taking her out AMA. Um, no! I'm taking her out because she is not safe there. Guess what, I was a nurse and worked in health care for decades, so I know what should have happened. The staff here screwed up big time and they know it. When we were there to get her, no medication information or prescriptions were sent with us, so I had zero clue what to do or even continue the changes, if they were on the paper. I ended up calling her regular doctor's office oncall provider for instructions and they set us up with what she needed. Glenwood's facility is a joke when it comes to security too. There was no metal detector or scan of any kind when we got there. We could have had weapons on us and they'd never know. Once everthing was set and we were leaving, nothing happened with the door, it should have because they put an ankle monitor on my daughter - without telling me whatsoever! The alarm made no sound, no locking or anything, we all just walked out. Apparently the staff failed to remove it and since nobody told me about it, I didn't know it was there. As soon as we got back home I took her to our local hospital to be examined. We feel better now that she is out of there and safe.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Clients who have just completed detox or who are at an increased risk of relapse, such as those experiencing a life crisis, typically enroll in an inpatient rehab. There, they receive housing, meals, and intensive clinical supervision. Inpatient treatment typically involves extensive individual, group, and family therapy. Clients may also participate in life skills training to support their long-term sobriety. Integrative rehab centers offer a variety of evidence-based holistic therapies, such as meditation or equine therapy.

Intensive outpatient programs (IOP) are designed for clients who need frequent, high-level care but do not require, or choose to forgo, inpatient treatment. Most intensive outpatient rehabs offer a minimum of nine hours of treatment weekly, though clients may receive up to 20 hours of care as needed. These programs typically combine various treatment modalities, including individual, group, and family counseling, medication assisted treatment (MAT), addiction and recovery education, and evidence-based complementary therapies, such as acupuncture and massage.

Outpatient rehabs offer robust wraparound care for clients who are stepping down from intensive inpatient care, with many facilities providing multiple levels of care, including partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), sober living/halfway housing, and standard outpatient programming. Clients may also elect to enroll in outpatient care immediately after completing inpatient detox. Those who are at lower risk of withdrawal complications may also choose to receive ambulatory medical detox from an outpatient facility. Outpatient programs typically involve addiction counseling, recovery education, and/or medication assisted treatment (MAT). Holistic therapies, such as art and music therapy, are commonly available.

Designed for individuals with moderate to severe addictions, a partial hospitalization program (PHP) provides a more intensive form of outpatient therapy. PHP treatment can serve as an alternative to inpatient hospitalization or as a step-down option after being discharged from a hospital or residential program. A partial hospitalization program typically requires a minimum of 20 hours weekly for an average of 90 days. Depending on your care plan, PHPs can include relapse prevention, medication management, and behavioral therapy services.

Programs

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Clinical Services

Individual therapy for drug and alcohol addiction treatment gives you a safe space to discuss your emotional, mental, and physical challenges. Your therapist will guide and support you as you collaborate to develop personalized strategies to manage your stress and navigate the challenges of your recovery.

Participants of group therapy sessions typically learn coping skills, communication techniques, and relapse prevention strategies. This unique set of skills helps you to navigate the challenges you find in the community and supports your long term sobriety.

Family therapy offers a group time to collectively make an effort to understand and combat the issues and challenges associated with addiction. Therapists work with family members to establish healthy boundaries between each other and their loved one who is addicted, improve emotional support systems, and work together toward a sustained long term recovery.

Cognitive behavioral therapy in Ohio may occur in individual, group, or family sessions. It involves focusing on specific thought and behavior problems. Participants learn coping techniques and are asked to practice them as homework between sessions.

The main goals of dialectical behavior therapy are to teach you how to regulate your emotions, develop positive ways to cope with stress, improve your relationships, and live in the moment. This therapy lasts about six months and involves weekly individual and group sessions.
