About Holy Redeemer Hospital

Holy Redeemer Hospital is a 239-bed facility that provides many medical services to Meadowbrook, Pennsylvania residents. They offer emergency services as well as inpatient and outpatient care including behavioral health.

Their outpatient program is offered through Philmont Guidance Center. They are staffed with marriage and family therapists, licensed counselors, social workers, psychiatrists and psychologists to work together to get you the care and healing you’re in need of. You’ll get a custom treatment plan that might include age-specific counseling groups and various types of individual or family therapies.

Inpatient care for mental health concerns include treatment for PTSD, substance abuse, anxiety including panic attacks, domestic violence, impact of disability or medical illness and many other concerns.

If you’re not sure if you qualify or need treatment, you can speak to a behavioral health specialist. They will listen with compassion and discuss the treatment options available.

I like that this hospital has an app to give loved ones information about how the hospital care is going. This app is called EASE and will send updates to any mobile device you choose.

Holy Redeemer Hospital is part of Redeemer Health. This is a Catholic health system that focuses on providing care, comfort and healing following the example of Jesus Christ. They offer pastoral care as part of their services.

Staff was nice but never received my son s birth certificate. I had called several times and they always gave me the run around sending me to other departments and no one answered and left voicemails and after a year they finally gave me a number to call vital records and because of this hospitals negligence, the vital records department told me I have to pay for it since it s passed the 6 months period when I have been calling since my son was born telling them that it hasn t arrived. We have cameras and everything always on the look out and it never came yet they said they sent it out mind you with a chuckle at that, like nothing in this situation is funny cause I m not laughing. Since I finally was given the number to calI this department now I have to pay for my son s birth certificate that I haven t even seen or received. Never again am I going here.

I will never go to another hospital. It s made such an impact on me that I m changing my PCP & my children s pediatrician to Holy Redeemer/Meadowbrook. I ve been a medical biller for years & I ve never seen such a top notch group.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient rehabs specialize in providing comprehensive care for clients who choose to remain in their homes and communities during treatment. Their services may include transitional support for clients stepping down from intensive inpatient programming. Ambulatory medical detox may be provided for clients at low risk for withdrawal complications. Many programs include evening, night, and weekend services to accommodate clients who are working professionals or caregivers. Addiction counseling and life skills training are common treatment modalities.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Clients engaged in intensive outpatient programs (IOP) live and work in their home community while receiving frequent, high-level care. These programs offer personalized care designed to evolve with the clients' changing needs. Many intensive outpatient rehabs require a minimum of nine hours of treatment per week, but high-risk clients and those in early recovery may receive up to 20 hours of care weekly. IOP services generally include addiction counseling, recovery education, and holistic therapies, such as massage.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Clients receiving services from a rehab aftercare program are usually stable and in the maintenance phase of recovery, having completed detox and/or intensive inpatient treatment. Rehab aftercare services can vary widely based on clients' individual and evolving needs, but often include peer coaching, relapse prevention support, 12 step program induction, and medical, mental health, and social service referrals. Individual care plans are typically developed by the client in partnership with their case manager and care team.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
Intervention services bring extensive experience to the planning and conducting of drug interventions in Pennsylvania. These experts can facilitate interventions in a sensitive manner that encourages positive outcomes. The goal of the intervention is to educate the individual about addiction and the consequences of their substance use and encourage them to get the treatment they need. Interventions can be effective with all types of drugs and alcohol addiction.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
With a partial hospitalization program (PHP), you can participate in intensive rehabilitation treatment with the ability to return home at the end of the day. For a weekly minimum of 20 hours, a partial hospitalization program can take place up to 5 days a week for an average of 90 days. During PHP treatment, you can receive relapse prevention strategies, medication management, individual and group therapy, and other behavioral therapy interventions.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
Because the severity of withdrawal symptoms can fluctuate, constant monitoring under 24-hour clinical care in Pennsylvania is recommended for early recovery. As you undergo detox, medical staff will supervise your health and ensure severe symptoms do not develop or threaten your life. Professional counselors will also be available to treat mental and emotional health needs.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
A medical detox is the safest way to wean your body off drugs and/or alcohol in an inpatient setting. When detoxing from addictive substances, the physical and psychological side effects of withdrawal can cause mood swings, anxiety, nausea, or flu-like symptoms. In medically assisted detox, a team of medical professionals are on hand 24/7 to help alleviate potential withdrawal symptoms, administer medications to alleviate withdrawal symptoms, and ultimately keep you safe and comfortable throughout this process.

Treatments

Alcoholism is a syndrome of dependent alcohol use. Also called alcohol use disorder (AUD), the symptoms include craving alcohol, not being able to stop drinking, and feeling anxious or irritable when not drinking. For many people, alcohol rehab in Pennsylvania is a beneficial treatment. Programs offer many levels of care, including medical and behavioral therapies.

Drug rehab in Pennsylvania is devoted to the treatment of addiction. Levels of care, treatment methods, and settings differ, but the aim of each program is to end drug dependency and empower participants to achieve long-term recovery.

Pennsylvania's specialized dual-diagnosis addiction treatment programs prioritize comprehensive care for individuals with co-occurring substance use disorders and mental health conditions. Providing various levels of care, including outpatient, inpatient, and partial hospitalization, dual-diagnosis experts use evidence-based therapies, recovery support groups, and education to treat both disorders, promote mental health, and improve your quality of life.

In Pennsylvania, dual-diagnosis rehabs specialize in providing comprehensive care for individuals facing both mental health and substance abuse challenges. These facilities offer personalized treatment plans, integrating evidence-based therapies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), and experiential therapy. Other recovery services, like 12-Step meetings, skills training, educational groups, and an aftercare plan will enhance your odds of long-term recovery.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical behavior therapy in Pennsylvania is an evidence based technique that involves group therapy, individual therapy, and phone coaching. Group sessions focus on learning behavioral skills. Individual therapy gives you the opportunity to apply what you're learning to your personal situations. Phone coaching allows you to call your therapist during the week for help with challenging situations.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Motivational interviewing in Pennsylvania gives you the opportunity to share your perspective and explore your ideas and motivation for change. Your therapist will walk you through the four steps of engaging, focusing, evoking, and planning to empower you to make any desired changes in your life.

It is important to process the impact that traumatic experiences have had on your life. During trauma therapy, you and an experienced therapist confront these experiences and the emotional impact it is had. This helps to reduce your symptoms of stress and anxiety and improve your overall mental health and well being.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

Teach vascular compressions. I was in for superior mesenteric artery syndrome TWICE and was not heard. I’m diagnosed and receiving the help I need now from DH, but this syndrome deserves acknowledgment! Radiology needs to learn about Aortomesenteric angle This refers to the angle between the abdominal aorta and the superior mesenteric artery (SMA)—which becomes dangerously narrow in SMAS, compressing the duodenum. This syndrome is debilitating and needs to stop being dismissed. The male nurse in the ER that finds enjoyment in pushing patients out of the beds they waited hours for and speaks down to them is wrong! Do better and get educated.

The administrative incompetence of this organization is mind-boggling! They refuse to update my insurance for a DOS from last year. They are trying to tell me that there is no such thing as a Jefferson Health Plan. Hey, guys, how about that insurance ID card I presented to you? You're seriously going to indicate you can't bill a Jefferson Health Plan because you think Jefferson is just a Healthcare system? Get it together already! Use the information on the card I presented. It is clearly a health insurance ID card. Did you think it was some kind of VIP card for a Jeff hospital? Come on, Cathy D.

Horrible experience. Brought daughter in for trouble breathing. Was there Friday, Sunday and Monday for the same problem. Finally was able to get a chest X-ray on Monday. Was not tested for flu, covid or rsv. Nursing staff was busy with personal conversations and referring to people as dumb and stupid,, not patient care. No doctor assigned after 2.5/3 hours in Er, nebulizer treatment finally given after 2 hours and nurse didn't set the flow properly and laughed when I told her. Room was filthy. Maybe night staff should go back to experience training. Apparently, they are unaware the of the mission and values of the health system.. Triage nurse, valet and security were great. Never had a problem until tonight.Unfortunately, because of this experience I will need to rethink my family's medical care.

My pregnancy and delivery were a bit messy but all of my doctors and nurses here were great and kept everyone safe! I had 2x a week appointments with MFM for a a good chunk of my pregnancy. Everyone in that office was nice and really payed attention to every change. I was induced early and since my body had to fight it so hard 😅 I met a lot of nurses. We went in on a Tuesday and left on Sunday! The Nurse who was there for my first epidural placement handled everything quickly when my BP dipped and kept a close eye on baby’s heart rate. Then finally the nurse who was on duty leading up to my c section was so sweet and followed me through surgery and recovery. The docs who ended up doing my c section was so reassuring and kept me distracted during talking about work (aka horses. Iykyk). The maternity ward was mostly good. They have a community fridge, nice clean bathrooms, I hated the bed after that long of a stay but they were still nice. Stef was the most helpful though. Either she really likes her job or she’s a great actor! Either was I felt super taken care of and educated by her whenever she was working! Dr Kean was also my favorite doc throughout the pregnancy.

I recently visited the maternity department with my wife, and I gave one star an unpleasant experience we had with the receptionist on duty. The person at the front desk was not polite and showed a very poor attitude towards the patients and visitors. There was a clear lack of interest, professionalism, and kindness in the way she interacted with us. I was not satisfied with the service provided to me and my wife during this important and sensitive moment. Poor service

This is my second time staying at this maternity hospital, and once again, I’m convinced it’s the best place in Philadelphia for mothers. I’ve been here for two days now, and I want to express my deepest gratitude to the entire medical staff. The nurses are incredibly kind, patient, and genuinely caring. Each one of them made me feel supported and comfortable, always ready to help with a smile and a warm heart. Their attentiveness and compassion mean the world to me. The doctors are true professionals. They explain every step of the process clearly—what will happen, when, and why—which gave me a strong sense of calm and confidence. I truly feel like I’m in good hands, and that’s so important, especially during such a sensitive and emotional time. Thank you all so much for your care, kindness, and dedication. You are the best!
