Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

When you receive 24-hour clinical care in Indiana, you'll be under constant supervision from highly trained medical staff. Nurses, doctors, and addiction specialists provide medications and other treatment to address withdrawal symptoms and any additional medical needs. Common medications that are prescribed include valium and Librium to relieve alcohol withdrawal, and anti-depressants to relieve cocaine withdrawal. For opioid abuse, doctors may prescribe methadone or naltrexone to manage cravings and clonidine to treat high blood pressure.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

When removing addictive substances from your body under the care of licensed medical professionals, the process is called medically assisted detox. Once you've become physically dependent on substances like alcohol, opioids, or benzodiazepines, quitting can be uncomfortable or even dangerous. To minimize risks to your health and overall discomfort, a team of medical professionals monitors you 24/7 and provides medications if necessary (like Suboxone or methadone) to ease potential symptoms of withdrawal.

partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program

A partial hospitalization program (PHP) can provide intensive rehab on a short-term basis. While PHP treatment typically requires a commute, telehealth may be available. PHP treatment costs can vary but are often covered by most insurance. The program duration can vary to meet your specific needs and require you to meet for a minimum of 20 hours a week for an average of 90 days. PHP Treatment services often include relapse prevention strategies, medication management, individual and group counseling, and other behavioral therapy interventions.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Persons who require high-level support but who do not wish to leave their homes or communities may enroll in an intensive outpatient program (IOP). Clients typically commit to a minimum of nine treatment hours across three therapeutic sessions per week, but many programs offer up to 20 hours of care weekly. Most intensive outpatient rehabs provide a combination of psychotherapy, recovery education, and holistic care. Medication assisted treatment (MAT) is widely available for those in alcohol or opioid recovery.

outpatient iconOutpatient

If you need some flexibility and choice when it comes to your recovery, outpatient rehab programs are a great option because they do not require intensive inpatient treatment. Clients remain in their own homes and may continue to work or attend school while in active treatment. Outpatient treatment typically includes addiction counseling and continuing recovery education, including courses in self-care and relapse prevention. Medication assisted treatment (MAT) is available in many treatment centers for clients in opioid and/or alcohol recovery.

12-step icon12-Step

12 step programs foster participants' long-term sobriety through personal growth rooted in spiritual principles, though religious affiliation is not mandatory. Most 12 step meetings are non-denominational but are based on the belief in a higher power. Participants learn to understand and address the causes of their addiction, accept responsibility for their choices, and relinquish control for that which cannot be changed. Regular group meetings and mentoring by a self-selected sponsor are required.

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Clients receiving support in a rehab aftercare program have completed inpatient care and may also be preparing to exit formal outpatient care. Outpatient services are typically categorized as rehab aftercare, but these services often continue beyond the cessation of formal treatment. Rehab aftercare services are designed to promote life-long recovery through comprehensive, wraparound care, which may include medical, mental health, and social services. These programs are usually created in collaboration with the client's case manager and care team.

telehealth iconTelehealth

Virtual healthcare visits have become commonplace in recent years. You may schedule an appointment with a therapist, primary care physician, or other medical specialist and meet with them online rather than in person. This type of virtual medical practice is referred to as telehealth.

inpatient iconInpatient

Inpatient rehab provides intensive, round-the-clock care and is designed primarily for clients who have just completed detox, those in early recovery, and those at an increased risk of relapse. Inpatient treatment typically includes extensive psychotherapy that draws on various modalities like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and motivational interviewing. Clients also learn the recovery-focused life skills needed to promote sustained recovery. Many inpatient drug rehabs also offer evidence-based holistic therapies like meditation, yoga, massage, and experiential therapy.

Treatments

This is really a 1 STAR review - but people don’t usually read those. The 5 start reviews are created before the patients leave - because they are harassed to do so, not because they genuinely felt the need to write a review. Most people leave this ICFR and end up in another rehab. The truth about this place is appalling. Check out the one star reviews before sending your family members here. They have incompetent and completely inexperienced “therapists” that will ensure your family member feels that they are the victim and need ICFR’s support but no one else’s. Not to mention the way they encourage and allow disturbing behavior between patients (see the one star reviews). They will also lie about your insurance covering their “services” to keep you there, but nothing is covered (again look at the one star reviews as this happens often). Do not send people you love here. This the worst rehab facility I have had to deal with so far - and I unfortunately have had the opportunity to deal with 5 others. 0 stars if I could. This place is absolute trash. If you love your people, take the time to do the research and send them elsewhere.

I can honestly say from the admission to the discharge process I was very pleased. All the staff treated me with respect and dignity. The group and 1:1 therapies were exactly what I needed to find my WHY. I was given the tools I need to assist me in building a strong foundation for my recovery journey. During my 30 day stay i witnessed clients return that I'd seen discharge and they were welcomed back with open arms....no shame or judgment.....ps.. you will gain weight. They feed you potatoes everyday!

I have never left a review on Google before. But I know how scary the process is to find a treatment facility, especially for a teen. My 17 year old daughter just finished a 45 day stay here for mental health. This is our honest review. Positives: She has made huge progress while in the program. She has been to many facilities and this place helped her the most. She didn't experience one single staff member she didn't like. They all treated her with respect and love. The facility is very nice and offers a lot for their patients. She felt that the group therapy was very beneficial. And that's usually rare. Negatives: Communication isn't always great. There were several incidents that I didn't find out about until my daughter told me several days after it happened. She said the food wasn't great. It also seems like they accept too many patients. It's hard to give each one the attention they need when it's so over populated. All in all, I don't regret having her go there. She had more positive experiences than bad. The staff truly care about the kids. I will be forever grateful for the care she received while there.

I recently spent time at ICFR and was initially hesitant about getting sober and beginning my recovery journey. While the first day was intimidating, the staff quickly made me feel welcomed, safe, and genuinely cared for. From the techs and nurses to the therapists, group facilitators, and case managers, I never once felt judged—only supported. I want to give a special shoutout to one of the facilitators, Connor. His groups are the best!! He truly cares and was always willing to listen when I needed someone to talk to. Thank you, Connor, and thank you to the entire ICFR team for making such a difference during a difficult time.

My Experience with ICFR- Mishawaka-South Bend Entering recovery was one of the hardest — and best — decisions I’ve ever made. When I first walked into ICFR, I was overwhelmed, scared, and honestly unsure if it would even help. I had tried to get better on my own so many times that I was starting to lose hope. But something about this place felt different. Today, I’m 2 months clean and feeling stronger every day, and I can honestly say I’m proud of how far I’ve come. I’m still a work in progress, but I’m finally moving forward — and that’s everything. The staff at ICFR were not only professional but deeply compassionate. They never made me feel like a failure — only like someone who had the strength to start over. From the very first session, I felt seen and supported in ways I hadn't before. The therapists didn’t just go through the motions — they listened, and they challenged me when I needed it most. The group therapy sessions were powerful. Hearing others share their struggles helped me realize I wasn’t alone. We were all battling something, but we were also healing — together. The sense of community became just as important as the tools I was learning to stay clean and mentally strong. Was it easy? Absolutely NOT! The techs and nurses are amazing there! Corwin and Tyler, I love and miss you guys! If it weren't for you two, I am not sure what I would have done. Scott, Shane, Austin, and Zach you are the glue that holds it together. Thank you all so much for everything that you do for the residents. I had a few bad experiences at ICFR and Max said he would handle them, and I do not feel they were. I did not feel safe there at night or on the weekends because of a few bad apples and Techs. Many other female residents felt the same way. If you’re considering a recovery center or wondering if recovery is worth it: it is. And you are. But PLEASE verify, double and triple check with your insurance company if they are in network!
