If you are truly in a medical emergency do not go to this hospital. They will watch you bleed out and vomit and still make you wait for an available bed which is not even a bed. They put you in a chair. I don t know how this place is open. It needs to be shut down immediately. Not to mention you will be waiting the maximum amount of time for any test results. Stay away from this hospital. This is a hospital you go to if you want to die. Stay away!!

I went to the emergency for an accident. At Long Island Jewish valley stream. Yes I waited for a long time, but it was worth it. I was then admitted as an out patient upstairs but the treatment was excellent what ever you ask for the staff was there to assist. When ever the new shift come in they would introduce them self. I have to say it s the cleanest hospital I have seen. While I was in the emergency admissions during the night they had the patients remove from section so they were able to deep clean I mean dusting the tv monitor, walls, computer, everything etc. I would definitely recommend this hospital to anyone.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.

Clinical Services

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

Everyone seem to be helpful and fast but when it came to the co-pay part, it seem as if the right hand dont know what the left hand is doing or is that what they pretended. I paid up front $100.00 before my surgery. After my surgery the day or 2 later, Northwell hospital was trying to sell me a walker that I needed for $100.00! I got it from Amazon 43.00 Then around my 4th month being home, I received a bill from Northwell claiming I owed them $100.00. I paid it not really remembering I've paid it already. They reinburse me but its was for $99.99. Huh? A penny less isn't going to break me. It was the principal of the matter. But WHY?

Went to the er with my dad for a cut that needed stitches . Karen was very rude . My father did not want a cut scan because he didn’t have a headache and she responded with “ if that was my father “ .. very very unprofessional . Everyone was so hostile . It’s like they were being forced to do their job . This hospital has always been terrible . My uncle came and was misdiagnosed in the er before and another one actually fell unattended and died !!!!! You need to do better northwell !

I have been coming to this ER for years but I will never come back here. They no longer treat patients with dignity and care. I explained to the staff that I am in pain and I am unable to sit down for long periods after sitting in the waiting room for 2 hours. They transferrede to the back and put me in a chair. The nurse proceeds to tell me “we put you in a chair to move things along”. Today I did not feel like a patient I felt like a number. As a nurse of 8 years I am disgusted by the care they are providing now. Take your insurance and all the fees you will be billed out of pocket to another hospital.

The worst hospital. Especially when it comes to the emergency room! I have to say it is clear as day many of the workers do not care about the patients. On top of this hospital being unorganized many of the workers just sit and gossip , laugh and scroll on instagram.. I took a sick loved one in and there was one family that stuck out to me everyone was crying and trying to get through there was no security guard for them or the line that was accumulating of people to get a visitors past to see family. Then they started cursing out the staff that was present asking valid questions that they ignored…no compassion just sick plus we sat for 2 hours no communication just dragging their feet and acting as if we are disturbing them.

I want to extend my deepest gratitude to the incredible team at Long Island Jewish Valley Stream department 2c the exceptional care my father received during his stay. Every person involved in his care went above and beyond, and their compassion, professionalism, and dedication made all the difference during a challenging time for me. A special thank you to Doctor A. Edward and NP C. Morantus for there expertise and attentive care. They always took the time to ensure i understood everything clearly and compassionately. I'm also so grateful for the kindness and support of PCAs M. Turner, P. Roberts-Murray and N. Francis, whose care and presence made my father feel seen and valued every day. To Physical Therapists E. Godswill and D. Arora—thank you for your encouragement and patience in helping him regain his strength. And to Speech Therapist K. Coronado, your dedication to his progress and comfort truly stood out. We felt supported, informed, and cared for every step of the way. Your teamwork and humanity were a gift, and we will always remember the difference you made. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

I went in thru ER. Was admitted with double pneumonia and AFIB. The medical staff REFUSED to give me my Heart medication because they said my BP was low. I explained that I don't take the med for BP but for AFIB. 2 days no meds. They stopped my warfarin instead of adjusting the dosage. Once again for 2 days. Some of the staff was seriously prone to discrimination which made for a very unpleasant stay. I was there for 9 days and left as sick as when I went in. The day after I was released I was admitted to St. Francis hospital where I am being treated for SEVERE and uncontrolled AFIB. Withholding my meds for my heart and for my clotting factor contributed to the severity of my current situation. THEY DO NOT LISTEN TO THE PATIENT.

I have been to this hospital a few times even when it was Franklin General. I had outpatient surgery and everything went well aka Excellent. I don’t know why people are saying bitter things about them here in the reviews. I have been to a few hospitals through the years It’s the hospital not the Garden City Hotel. As my Aunt would say you don’t know what a good day is until you have a few bad ones. This is a GOOD HOSPITAL I am grateful to experience great services. The hospital is a building and the people, employees aka staff that make the situation awesome I am full of awe after being a patient here Thank you

Wouldn’t come back here even if I was bleeding out - Took 10 hours just to get an X ray done. For over 8 of those hours my dad and I weren’t even provided with a room and when we finally were it was a shared one. This Would’ve taken even longer if the manager Moheb Hussaini didn’t help speed up the process. We went in at midnight and I got discharged past 10:30 AM. Thought the process would take a couple of hours at most but ended up Wasting my whole night which is just ridiculous.
