Accepted Insurance

Northern Westchester Hospital Center – Inpatient works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

ECT is a form of treatment in which controlled electric currents are passed through the brain, sometimes causing short seizures. Treatments are done under general anesthesia. ECT appears to change brain chemistry for the better, and has been shown to provide fast and sometimes dramatic improvements in severe mental health conditions that can exist alongside addiction, including depression, bipolar disorder, psychosis, and suicidality. ECT is also often used by those who prefer it to taking medication.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

I have to say ive been here many times and was reluctant at first due to horrible past experiences. I prayed over it. My mom was very sick. And this time the experience was amazing fast and attentive staff. Everyone was so friendly. The doctors took great care of my mother. When we had an issue with 1 nurse the nurse manager came and spoke to us immediately and apologized. Very grateful. You can tell the staff must have went thru some changes as it reflected in every area everyone treated us with great care and compassion from the Intake to Er to the 4th floor. Thank you!

Last week I was in the emergency room after I received a Dog Bite. I hadn’t been to that hospital in probably like 15 years so I was so confused of the changes when I got there, but that’s only because I was used to it looking a certain way. I saw a nurse practitioner and in total saw three nurses and an x-ray technician. All of them were beyond friendly. I was in a lot of discomfort & my blood pressure was higher than normal and it had been for the 48 hours since I received the Bite. I told the doctor I was taking dual action Advil, which is a combination of Tylenol Advil and she wrote out how much of each that I could have in a 24 period. She gave me a lidocaine patch, which I had no idea you could get over-the-counter and made a huge difference to my discomfort. By the time I left my blood pressure was normal. I had tried to go to pulse urgent care prior but they were nothing but rude & I felt uncomfortable. I didn’t want to go to the hospital because I wasn’t sure it was emergent enough & just felt bad taking their time away from others who would be emergent but they gave me plenty of time and attention. They helped file the report for the bite with the health dept. I was traumatized from the attack and they handled me with care. Thank you!! 🙏

I went to the emergency room for Severe bloating and right-side abdominal pain. I was put in a shared room, which is fine. However, the noise level at the nurse station was loud. They were talking, laughing, and joking; at one point, they had music on. I had to get up and close the door to my room. I complained to the nurse, and the noise level soon dropped. Lastly, the Nurse practitioner and the Doctor did not touch or check my belly. I came in for bloating and abdominal pain. One would think they would at least check my stomach. I was sent home when bloodwork came back good, and I was discharged, not knowing what was wrong with my bloating and right-side pain. I will not be returning to this hospital.

My mother was in their er yesterday and has not yet heard back about a simple test result after several promises of calls with info and prescription. Infection confirmed and no medication yet. Unacceptable.

So it starts off with I press the button for the nurses station to let them know my mother is bleeding badly again. Nobody shows up over five minutes. Had to flag. Somebody in the hall goes to get the CAT scan done. She comes out gushing with blood call the nurses station let them know Again nobody comes to the room. Had to flag somebody down in the hallway. I was told by three different people she’s gonna get stitches. Right before that the doctor comes in and asks me. Should it be the tape or stitches? I’m like really stitches cause she’s gonna pull the tape off and with the amount of gushing blood tape isn’t gonna work. Nobody ever comes back probably over an hour later. Doctor comes in to do the stitches. Does not ask me if I get queasy with blood or anything. I’m the one that’s holding down her hands as he’s trying to give her the needle I said don’t you have a nurse that comes in. He goes to me. There’s none available so I’m here the whole time Holding her hands down, wiping up the blood that is dripping down her face down her eye and supposedly the nurse is gonna come in to clean her up. He comes in. She’s soaked in blood back of her neck, her clothes everything ask for a robe cause it’s all over her robe never comes back with the robe. He walks by I said thanks for the robe. Don’t worry about it. I took care of it so this other nurse comes in with the robe I tell her it’s not needed now I took care of my mother she says why are you being passive aggressive? I said to her you don’t know what I’ve been going through here all day she goes yeah me too. Are you kidding me it’s your job. You don’t like to get another job. then I’m talking with My Son on the phone. She just happened to walk by at the same time I said ugh disgusting so she must have some sort of a complex I told her if I have something to say I’ll say it to your face. Because she said it’s a federal crime . For what??? I wasn’t talking to her. had to ask for water for my mother cause there’s no IV. There’s nothing now she’s starving EMS won’t get here till 1130 at night and the stitches were done around 6:15 p.m. 96 years old laying in bed the back of her hair and clothes full of blood and nobody cares. They do not care, no compassion and no empathy. Turn around and run.

They just sent me an email to donate to them even after my patient review where I said they were not the best. I was not going to even review on here but the audacity kind of annoyed me. I understand people have positive experiences so this is just mine. This is also my experience in the ER department for reference. I’m also using an account that does not have my real name. There are so many things I want to share, but I’ll stick to the main things. The nurses annd staff ignored me throughout the night when I requested meds to help me sleep because they did not give me 3 of my meds, one of them was a sleeping pill. I asked for it every hour or so, 2 times. The psychiatrist sven put in for the sleeping pill by 12:30 PM and then the nurses claimed they didn’t have it nearly 2 hours later after me following up 2 more times. Then I asked for an alternative and she said she’d look into it, I followed up twice about this yet the nurses kept brushing me off. Back to the 3 meds, which they claimed they had. Didn’t tell me about the fact they didn’t have the meds until after my mother left after going to my home to get things for me. They did give me Tylenol for cramps two times (I was there from 6:30 PM to 11 AM. I told them I had a migraine due to lack of my meds. I told the nurse and she just looked at me like “what do you want me to do” because they didn’t have my meds for migraines or any meds for them. So I asked for coffee, but I can’t have hot coffee because my POTS gets set off (I get dizzy and can faint) so I just asked for ice too. the nurse rolled her eyes and went out of the room and said to another nurse “I have to get iced coffee now” it sounded very rude, as if I was an inconvenience for my medical issues? Like I was bothering them when they weren’t giving me my meds or forgot to fill them and told me before it was too late to take them? I just needed support and some hell with figuring out what to do instead or my other options. If I didn’t have other medication options, then a little understanding would have been very nice. At one point, at around 4 AM the nurses were at the nurses station talking so loudly about politics and the war (this was back in November) and one of them was hollering about it, I had to ask them to shut the door. It made me uncomfortable and anxious because I already didn’t have my meds, sensory overload from a migraine and other things. I think it’s unprofessional to talk about it so loudly that it sounds like they’re shouting. I talked to the patient advocate the next morning around 8 AM and the nurses were not nicer after, I think they took it to say I was complaining when I was just advocating for myself. I also have Autism and at times had trouble communicating and the medical issue that I went in with made it so much harder for me to talk. It was extremely unprofessional of staff to treat me like that, especially because I couldn’t communicate that I knew I was being treated unfairly and it just got worse and worse as time went on.I’m not sure if they thought my autism was more severe and I didn’t understand how much they were mistreating me but the entire time I knew something was wrong and when I finally spoke up to the patient advocate, the nurses seemed to take it personally. I just hope they do better and don’t shame patients for having medical problems that aren’t their fault. Better communication and honesty about medication should be a standard that is met always.

Worst hospital ever!!!! Don't take your loved ones there. Entire staff are rude and incompetent , no hourly rounding, inappropriate, and careless. Rooms and bathrooms are filthy. They won't ever answer call bells and will let fall risk patients walk without assistance. Employees that ARE NOT passionate about their job shouldn't work in the hospital field. This is a field of caring individuals. Treat others like you want to be treated it can be you or your loved one in that patient bed one day!
