About Ridgeview Institute – Monroe Inpatient Services

Substance use disorder treatment is available to adults, adolescents and seniors. Their treatment includes a gender specific program for women. The adult program provides medication management, individual and group therapies, education groups, recreation and sessions with a psychiatrist. They specialize in schizophrenia, psychosis, depression, anxiety and co-occurring substance use disorders.

The program uses evidence based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavior therapy. Once you have stabilized, you also have access to recovery management and aftercare services to help maintain your healing.

The adolescent program is for young people ages 12 to 17 who have a psychiatric disorder. This program does not treat substance use disorders.

The senior program is available to those who are cognitively capable of goal setting and self examination. The program addresses addiction, psychiatry and senior adults with cognitive challenges who require more structure and direction. The program addresses the older generations’ unique behavioral concerns and often more complex medical issues.

The inpatient Renew program is for people with addiction and co-occurring mental health conditions. The program typically begins with detoxification. When needed, medication assisted treatment is provided to minimize withdrawal symptoms. The program provides integrated care that is necessary to achieve sobriety when dual diagnosis is present.

Your discharge plan typically includes connections to providers within the community and support groups that help ensure you have continued care to maintain your sobriety. They accept many major insurance plans and will verify your insurance coverage before you are admitted.

Son and I very dissatisfied with the medical treatment of his Type I diabetes while he was a patient in the facility. He was vomiting one evening so he asked the head nurse for a ketostix to check if his urine ketones were high (which is a life threatening condition for Type I diabetics). He was informed that the facility did not have any ketone urine strips and vomiting is normal for diabetics (not true and can be life threatening for them). I spoke with the head nurse by phone and she told me the same thing. I drove to Monroe with Ketostix from home hoping a nurse would check his urine. I was able to have a police officer accompany me but the head nurse refused to speak with either one of us and refused to provide the testing strips to my son. Thankfully he was discharged home the following evening and he got his diabetes symptoms under control within a few days. Very scary for both of us and the disregard for his physical health during the admission is appalling.

my son was here for severe depression an was vaccinated for something without prior permission. I was not consented with nor gave permission for any shots nor medication without consulting me. Just because a child is there DOES NOT give them the right to over rule a parent.

They confiscated my protection. Refused to admit a drug test. Refused to give me my prescribed medications. Continuously changed medications. Refused to remove a viral patient from a non viral cell. Placed hygiene kits with the names of every patient, SSN, MN, phone numbers, all personally identifiable information in a bin at the desk and encourage patients to go through it. Edit: The reason I was in this facility is because kids working at a store wanted me banned from the store so they called the police saying I threatened to kill the president and for some reason the police went with it, told me I was arrested (I wasn't the police have lost their jobs since then) and took me to a hospital which also commits felonies against their patients by giving them experimental drugs without consent. This facility steals belongings, keeps patients longer than they're legally allowed to. commits felonies by giving patients medication they don't need and even causes deaths by not giving people medication they do need. This facility will give a false diagnosis without any proper questionnaires or vetting. The majority of the staff is rude and unprofessional, they're regularly getting in trouble with HIPAA due to their practice of hygiene products and labelling as mentioned above. And their Smyrna location is even worse with physical assaults being reported by an absurdly large number of patients.

Accepted Insurance

Ridgeview Institute – Monroe Inpatient Services works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Aftercare, which is sometimes referred to as continuing care or relapse prevention, is a type of structured care meant to help you continue with the progress you've made after completing an addiction treatment program. Most of the time, you'll continue receiving support after a treatment program by partnering with their case managers and staff to identify and access the resources you need to remain sober.

12-step icon12-Step

12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

sober-living iconSober Living Homes

Sober living homes in Georgia offers an alternative to the abrupt change of moving from intensive treatment to an unstructured home environment. Men's and women's sober living homes replicate everyday life situations, but they do so in a sober environment while also reinforcing healthy habits. This reduces the chance of relapse. Individuals who could use extra support after rehab or don't have a stable home environment can benefit from this transitional option.

heart-hands iconIntervention Services

Intervention services helps family or friends of addicts stage an intervention, which is a meeting in which loved ones share their concerns and attempt to get an addict into treatment. Professional intervention specialists can help loved ones organize, gather, and communicate with an addict. They can guide intervention participants in describing the damage the addict's behavior is causing and that outside help is necessary to address the addiction. The ideal outcome of an intervention is for the addict to go to rehab and get the help they need.

partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program

Designed for individuals who don't require round-the-clock care, a partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a form of outpatient care with a higher level of support. PHP treatment can be an alternative to inpatient hospitalization or a step-down option. With daily sessions lasting 6 to 8 hours, up to 5 days a week, a partial hospitalization program may offer medication management, relapse prevention techniques, and behavioral therapy interventions. PHP treatment can be fully or partially covered by insurance.

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

24-hour clinical care in Georgia reduces the risks involved in detox and addiction treatment. Without access to professional medical care, individuals may experience withdrawal symptoms that become life threatening. For example, alcohol withdrawal can cause delirium tremens, confusion, and cardiac symptoms. Without medical supervision to step in, these symptoms could potentially turn fatal.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

A quality drug rehab in Georgia can help you overcome addiction. This environment is designed to help you address the complex issues contributing to drug dependence. The goal of treatment is to give you the tools you need to make a full recovery.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Addiction treatment programs in Georgia help individuals to address substance abuse problems. With various programs available, including outpatient, inpatient, and partial hospitalization programs, you can find the right level of care for your specific needs. You can generally expect drug and alcohol rehab to incorporate evidence-based therapies, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), skills training, recovery meetings, and mindfulness-based therapy. When combined, these interventions can successfully help you overcome addiction and continue to enjoy long-term mental health.

While in treatment for a substance use disorder, mental health services are provided, and you have access to a mental health counselor or therapist round the clock. Clinical staff constantly monitor your care, and you receive a number of mental health therapies including individual and group counseling, relapse prevention education, and coping skills training. Other mental health offerings will vary by rehab.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image

LGBTQ Program

Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
military-program thumbnail image

Military Program

Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
seniors-program thumbnail image

Seniors Program

Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
teen-program thumbnail image

Teen Program

Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
program-for-women thumbnail image

Program For Women

Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

During rehab in Georgia, you may engage in motivational interviewing. This typically lasts one to two sessions and is designed to address any ambivalence you have toward change. It helps you explore your current situation and motivations and commit to making changes for the future.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

The skills you learn in couples therapy are designed to help you successfully address relationship challenges as they arise. These skills can include anger management, conflict resolution, communication, and problem solving.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation. Structured family meetings can be arranged if the patient and treatment team determine a family meeting would have therapeutic benefit

Many life skills involve coping with emotions and stress. Others involve completing tasks that allow you to live independently. Examples include finding a job, managing finances, and nutrition. During rehab in Georgia, you'll work on any skills that are lacking to ensure you have the tools for success post treatment.

By incorporating recreational therapy into an addiction treatment program in Georgia, you learn to discover new interests and develop health and healthy coping mechanisms. Activities could include painting, group sports, or yoga. These encourage social interaction and support your physical fitness, which are vital factors in a successful recovery journey.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Ridgeview Virtual Outpatient A Life-Changing Experience I will say this every single time: Dr. Green changed my life. Before I met her, I carried a weight I couldn’t name—heaviness, blurred boundaries, and a deep disconnect from myself. But through her guidance, I discovered the power of self-love. She taught me that saying “no” isn’t selfish—it’s sacred. She reminded me that I deserve peace, and that healing begins with permission to protect my spirit. In her words, “Depression is not an option.” And when she says it, you believe it. You feel it. If you're truly ready to begin your healing journey, Dr. Green is where you need to be. She doesn’t just treat symptoms—she reaches your soul. Your inner child will feel seen, heard, and finally safe. A note to Ridgeview: The only challenge I’ve faced is the delay in paperwork from hospital doctors. It’s a real concern—especially when patients are trying to keep their jobs and pay bills while navigating recovery. These delays don’t just affect us; they affect Dr. Green’s ability to support us fully. Streamlining this process would make a world of difference. Still, as long as you’re under Dr. Green’s care, you’ll begin to transform. You’ll meet a new version of yourself—one that’s lighter, stronger, and free. So get ready to heal. Get ready to live. And most importantly—get ready to let go. With gratitude, Mimi

If I could give more stars I would. Ridgeview Monroe IOP with Dr. Debbie was great I had a fantastic awesome experience with her. She understands and get you through your toughest times. I deal with multiple of illnesses from physical to mental and I never felt heard until I started IOP with Dr. Debbie. I was shy and not really talkative, pluse wasn’t expressing my emotions at all. Now I’m more honest with myself and my directors thanks to Ridgeview Monroe and Dr.Debbie. Oh and can’t forget the nurse Dr. Odyum as well.

I take my hat off to the people that work here as I know how difficult their jobs must be. This was my family member’s first hospitalization and it was a positive experience. My family member was anxious and fearful about being in the hospital but the staff helped to reassure her that she was safe. Thank you to all the amazing staff there that helped my family during this difficult.

I HIGHLY encourage anyone thinking about utilizing this facility for medication or behavior stabilization services for dementia patients in GA to seek another facility for the proper care of your loved one. To state that communication is absent and lacking is an understatement from the Director of Compliance/Risk Management, Program Therapist, Patient Advocate / Court Liasion, Nursing supervisor and care team management. There is a complete failure to provide transparency in the care being rendered, care plan outline, routine updates or accurate medication records to the POAs while family is in there or upon discharge. The facility is so poor on communication that they deceive you to think your family member is stabilized when in fact they leave drugged up and dirty without proper hygiene care provided. You are better off never sending a loved one here. A formal complaint was filed with the state of GA on the lack of care and legal communication required to a POA which must be addressed and investigated.
