About River Rock Treatment

Burlington is a picture perfect location for recovery. Known as The Queen City, the town is built on a slope of the northern Green Mountains overlooking the mirrored waters of Lake Champlain. Peaceful and serene, this is the ideal location for introspection and healing.

Addiction often has its roots in untreated mental challenges. With this understanding, they treat both mental health and substance use disorders. The PHP includes 18 to 25 hours of treatment each week, and the IOP has three sessions per week that are each three hours long. Both programs allow you to address the root causes of substance use, which may be trauma, social expectations, chronic illness, and more.

I appreciate that their treatments use proven methods as well as holistic approaches. Beyond counseling and therapy, they include meditation to help you stay in the present moment. They also offer Acudetox, a unique acupuncture therapy that is believed to help reduce cravings and improve sleep and mood regulation.

In the winter there are many great skiing destinations within a short driving distance of the center. Skiing is a great form of exercise that can be a fun substance free activity for you and your new community.

The River Rock program is incredible. The clinicians and staff are knowledgeable, compassionate and passionate about what they do. I attended the IOP program a year ago. My experience there was so impactful on my overall wellbeing. I now work in mental health myself and confidently refer patients their way knowing they will be supported through their mental health and sobriety journey.

I want to add a personal review of River Rock under my name because I’m truly happy of the program and what it has done for my family. I don’t necessarily identify as being an alcoholic but used substances as a way to cope with bad times. Through the intensive outpatient therapy program River Rock provides I was able to gain a clear understanding of how to navigate problems at home. I went through the process a few years ago and then my husband felt compelled (thankfully) to do so after. Since then, we’ve been able to navigate life in a more healthy manner. They use a multi-faceted approach of different therapies including CBT, DBT, life coaching, adventure therapy, group sessions and one-on-one therapy to make sure that people get the help they need! We’ve been able to create a more holistic life that benefits us and use the tools given to get through hard times. We are more connected and practice self care including cold plunges and are building a space to install a sauna at home. Communication is better, my husband has been alcohol free for over a year and a half and we are able to navigate life much better. If you are questioning getting help in any capacity, I would recommend at least reaching out to River Rock. There is no shame in wanting to take steps to achieving a more healthy outlook on life. They have the resources to meet you where you are. With love, Kim.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Clients may choose to enroll in outpatient treatment to facilitate their transition out of intensive inpatient care. Working professionals and family caregivers may also prefer to remain in their home and community post-detox, making outpatient treatment an ideal option. Many facilities offer a full continuum of care, including partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), sober living, and standard outpatient programming. Psychotherapy, recovery education, evidence-based complementary therapies, and medication assisted treatment (MAT) are widely available in outpatient programs.

Intensive Outpatient programs are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs. The Intensive Outpatient Program gives patients the chance to participate in a structured treatment plan part-time while they transition back to home and work or other responsibilities. This program provides half-day treatment (Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 9:15 am to 12:30 pm).

Programs

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Clinical Services

Trained therapists typically facilitate group therapy sessions. These sessions help support drug and alcohol addiction treatment using evidence based techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. You begin to understand the link between your thoughts and behaviors, which helps to break the chains of addictive behavior.

Using a personalized approach for drug addiction treatment allows your therapist to tailor interventions in your individual therapy sessions to your unique circumstances. During your one on one sessions, you explore the underlying causes of addiction and develop effective strategies to manage cravings, improve mental health, and ultimately achieve long term recovery.

Addiction impacts the entire family unit. Families in Vermont use family therapy to foster open communication and resolve the inevitable conflicts that were created by addiction. Therapists help to improve relationships and strengthen the recovery process for the individual struggling with addiction.
