About SalusCare – Grand Avenue

Located in Fort Myers, Florida, SalusCare is a behavioral healthcare facility serving the Southwest Florida community. They offer a residential treatment program called the Transitional Living Center for adults recovering from addiction. They also have a transitional care program which is a longer residential program.

Treatment Focused on Co-Occurring Disorders

During the short term residential program, clients can receive treatment that targets co-occurring disorders. It’s common for individuals who have a substance use disorder to also have a mental health disorder.

Treatment for co-occurring disorders will focus on treating both mental health and substance use disorders at the same time. Talk therapy approaches that may be used to help you include dialectical behavioral therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy. These approaches focus on adjusting thoughts that hinder your recovery and developing coping skills that can help you manage better.

Transitional Housing to Start Living Independently

In the longer residential program, you’ll stay in either a 14 bed women’s or 16 bed men’s transitional house. You’ll get the experience of living in a home life environment while pursuing education and employment and also continuing to receive treatment. They require you to meet specific income requirements and contribute a portion of your income toward your care to continue living in the residence.

SalusCare is not far from restaurants and shops in downtown Fort Myers, Florida. As you transition to an independent lifestyle, you can start looking for fun things to do in town. You can sit and enjoy a relaxing day at Centennial Park or visit the IMAG History and Science Center.

wow where to beginkicks patients out on the street refuses them access to their belongings like cell phones, medicine, clothing, identification and bank cards. They pretend they are a rehab but what they are is a glorified money scheme, they get funding from the government and charge the residents rent regardless if they have a job or hours at that job, the gotta pay or you guessed it, straight on the street. I witnessed this myself today, they refused to return the belongings of a patient they kicked out on the street in the middle of the night without so much as a jacket, just the slippers on her feet and a t shirt with shorts. It took her family 2 days to locate her in downtown fort myers off her meds that they withheld along with all of her belongings that they are illegally keeping from herIf you have a loved one with a dependency issue, please do not send them to this place. Its dirty, they do not care about anything but getting that dollar and when you no longer produce for them, its out on the street.UPDATE 1/31/2023after the management insisted on the 30th, that we had to make an appointment to recover personal property they took anything that they didn't steal for themselves and tossed it in the dumpster. several people attempted to stop them, offered to hold the property until it could be picked up and were threatened with punishment if they removed the stuff from the trash dumpster. We had to call fort myers police department and get an officer to return to the property and crawl in the dumpster to find what was left of the stuff. Several items are missing, theft by the staff most likely as the cowards hide behind locked doors and issue trespass citations saying you cannot come get your stuff, they charge rent, steal your things and kick you out if you relapse after months of being clean.THE Department of Children and Families regulate this facility and I have filed a complaint with them. I want these people to know who is coming for them. It is me, I will pursue criminal charges as far as I am able, and civil litigation as well for grand theft. The value of items stolen exceed 500 dollars and that is grounds for litigation.love the canned reply from themI just hope the complaint I filed with the state hits them where it hurts the most. They cannot treat people the way they do with impunity. Even addicts have rights and these people take advantage of these recovering addicts when they can least defend themselves.they can address specific concerns with the state regulatory agencies. in case you are not sure I am the one who filed the complaint

Under-qualified staff, unlicensed technicians handling controlled substances, my controlled medications were given to another patient by mistake on multiple occasion. Inaccurate med log, pills missing. Sloppy management and lack of compassion.I saw multiple people discharged for almost nothing who relapsed and died over a vape or a cigarette.

Accepted Insurance

SalusCare – Grand Avenue works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
sober-living iconSober Living Homes
Sober Living Houses (SLHs), aka sober homes or halfway houses, are safe, substance-free, supportive living facilities for those recovering from substance abuse. Ideal for those who've just been through inpatient or outpatient treatment, SLHs are supervised environments with rules that support sobriety, such as curfews, shared chores, and therapeutic meetings. Residents are also often trained on life skills and coping skills to make it easier to transition into society. SLHs also provide a strong sense of community that can lead to the kind of deep and lasting connections with other sober individuals that supports a new, healthy lifestyle.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Florida provides quality treatment to help individuals overcome dependency related to a wide range of addictive substances. Programs address both the physical and mental aspects of addiction in order to help you make a full recovery.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

A lot of people there made me feel like I was at the bottom of the Barrel. In fact I've been clean longer than most people in there. They went through my belongings. Treated bugs improperly. They just had a field day destroying my belongings. Broken makeup missing toiletries and allowed one particular girl to provoke me until I blew up at her. They said that they were following protocol when I complained. However they know nothing about admitting someone into a facility and they certainly don't know anything about treating for bugs. My suitcases actually came back with fleas in it. I don't have fleas. For that matter I don't even have a dog if I could leave no star I would but unfortunately I have to leave at least one
