I've liked each doctor I've had, however, I've been there less than 6 months and already on my 3rd doctor. Meaning there is no continuity of care. I'm struggling with my meds management since transferring here

I have been taking my boys to Dr Raj for almost 7 years and feel he's a phenomenal physician. None of my kids have reoccurring medical issues, but with children, injuries and illnesses do pop up. He shows what I feel to be the perfect balance of concern without overreacting and over medicating. He's proven over time that I can trust him when he says something needs to be taken seriously vs will resolve itself. He's engaging and listens and his nurses are very friendly. The facilities certainly are not grand, but he is a fantastic doctor.Advice on long waits: you will be there a while if you have an afternoon appt. For whatever reason, things pile up after lunch and you can be waiting upwards of an hour to get back to a room. I schedule for morning appts, arriving somewhere around 9-10am, and we are always back within 10 mins of our appt time. The office staff can be curt on the phone (I think they're understaffed), but I've always found them to be very polite in person. One thing I appreciate is when I call the day of for some ear infection or injury, they will put me on hold, relay the issue to Dr Raj and ask him what he'd like to do, and they have always made a way to squeeze us in.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

If I could give them zero stars I would. At the beginning of the year I called this provider because they took my insurance and made an appointment. Had to wait until March for an appointment and when I arrived I was told they did not take my insurance. They went ahead and saw me anyway and, gave me referrals and did blood testing. So far none of the referrals have been viable and my Endocrinology referral has been rejected twice because they failed to ordered the correct tests. I finally got another appointment in June and waited over an hour after my appointment time to see the provider. Again, this was to ask for the correct blood test so I could actually see an endocrinologist that I had needed to see since February. Since the provider was an hour late to the appointment, the lab was closed by the time we were finished. I have attempted to return to the lab and they are always closed. There's nowhere they have posted hours for the lab but apparently they need an hour and a half every day for lunch. I've never had that much time for lunch anywhere I've worked in my adult life. The people here are rude and incompetent. And it turns out they do take my insurance but they gave me an appointment with a provider that did not take my insurance. I hate that this is the only place we can go.

I’ve been a patient here for a while, but I’ve had a terrible experience with new provider, Joly Wu. She’s completely dismissive & no compassion at all, in my opinion… My visits, have been 1-3 minutes long, because she doesn’t even bother to check or listen to any of my concerns. I spend more time in the lobby and patient room waiting on her than I do talking to her. Because like I mention she just walks in and walks right out. I had to stop her from walking out this last time by asking her questions as she just walked in & handed me my “Discharge paper work” without even actually hearing me out at all or even SEEING ME. 1min after she walked in the room she was ready to walk right back out. Her tone of voice & her dismissive attitude just upsets me. I respectfully left but will be the last time I see her. I used to love going here & seeing Dr. Mary, so this provider has some BIG SHOES TO FILL. Dr Mary was so amazing. She was compassionate and helped me find solutions to my problems. Although she was temporary doctor she help me more than any doctor has ever helped me. I was bummed when she left. My appointments with Dr. Mary were 20-30 minutes long, and she would do a whole physical, listen to me, and help me find solutions. She was truly exceptional, so i definitely feel with joly wu is nothing but a waste of money. She also assumed that I was on state insurance and brushed me off. I don’t know what her view on that is, but it makes me feel like she doesn’t care because she assumes we are on “state insurance” I’ve been disappointed ever since the first visit, with new provider so decided to give her the benefit of the doubt because although Semar has had bad rep in the past I had good experience thanks to Dr Mary & Doc Charles. Now I leave with such big disappointment. For the record, I’m not on state insurance (not that it should matter). I was happy before this new provider, but it will be the last time I go see her. I refuse to keep wasting my money on a provider who doesn’t care about me.

Life can be difficult. Misunderstandings happen. I came into the office and was told I would need to come back for a blood draw because I didn’t fast. After the staff collected more information I was told I could have the tests done. I live 48 miles away so i was happy that I could be taken care of on the visit. Thank you staff for listening to me and making this visit just as good as it could be.

@ front counter, prior to my appt. I'm required to sign electronically for their mystery privacy policy? Same for some HIPAA (CYA) garbage. I asked for a copy of what I signed. They didn't like that at all. I never received copies of what they required me to sign, though I repeatedly asked for a document to read before signing, they told me I could reschedule. It just got worse from there. What a scummy scam operation! Get them in-n-out fast & keep them in the dark. I was asked a bunch of questions that I had already provided answers to when I scheduled my appt. So, as I waited to be seen, I watched & learned; seems they prefer dumb, old & poor people; easier to take advantage of. 😕

David Watkins is my provider, albeit when I try to return his call, or his nurse Lynnette's urgent message in Epic (their stupid CRM), I'm on hold for 20+ minutes ultimately to speak with a phantom call center in Yelm. I want to the ER to avoid potential death due to high blood pressure. No one at Sea Mar seems to care, because they never, ever return phone calls, including Lynn at the Yelp call center who thinks I am satan.
